Here are some new images of Sega's Wii shooter Ghost Squad, ported over from arcade. In this game you use the Wii Remote as a multi-purpose tool, such as targeting enemies, defusing bombs, and rescuing hostages.

Another Shooter game for Wii... I can't wait to get it.

1. Resident Evil
2. Duck Hunt
3. Ghost Squad
4. Karous (Only in Japan)
5. Possible Point Blank Collection or Time Crisis series from Namco ;)

This game will be a great rental. I definately want to play it but don't want to pay full price for it.

I don't know... i have been playing lots of PS3 demos lately and the graphic of this game is very crappy. I know look is not everything, but first impression almost always count, especially i never heard of Ghost Squad before. The only thing that might make me buy this game is game play, if it's fun enough, then yes... Other than that, it's more like Geek Squad to me.

Who knows if they're gonna clean it up at all. Damn fun game, though.

In that case, if the game's price is decent i might bite. Fun games are okay even if they look crappy (but not too crappy).

I loved this game in the arcade. Too bad there's not a rifle attachment for the wiimote. I would be willing to put down some coin for that...

I am SO fucking stoked for this game. Apparently, it plays exactly like Virtua Cop with Justice shots and all, but has wayyyy more features and extras. 25 guns, multiple characters and options, and branching paths in addition to Confidential Mission-like minigames PLUS 4-player multiplayer makes this game the reason I bought my Wii. More lightgun games please!

That is cool - very cool. I would like to see lots of gun games on the Wii - it's tailor-made for them. I still play my Guncon 2 games on my PS2.

to second Brainwave0, i would kill for a good rifle attachment thing. a submachine gun where you slip the wiimote into the barrel. i'd buy that in an instant.

that wii blaster gizmo/sling looks ok, but definitely not as cool as the arcade machine gun.

I'm stoked for this. When it was announced last week I took out my GunCons and played Vampire Night. I'll buy it on launch and hopefully we get a shell made specifically for the game.

I would rather have House of the Dead 4, but i guess i'll settle for any Sega Shooter.. I should go to the arcade and see why they decided to go with Ghost Squad over House of the Dead.

I'm surprised that there isn't a more official gun attachment with all of the gun games hitting the Wii. You'd think that either Nintendo, Sega or Capcom would try to cash in and make some sort of peripheral to go with their games.

Anyway, I can't see playing these games without a solid gun peripheral (not that blaster crap). Waving the wiimote around like a controller takes all the fun out of it. I might have to go to TRU, buy a toy machine gun and make my own Wii gun.

True, and I'd much rather have an actual stand alone gun controller instead of plugging the wiimote into something. It would cost more and would probably end up being white, but a nice assault rifle with blue accents would be sweet. Then Capcom should put out a special gun for UC, something real nice like that chainsaws for RE4.

Definitely excited for this game, played it a lot in the arcade, I like the little touches like picking a character class, missions have a good variation, and it sounds like they are adding enough to the Wii version to really make it worthwhile to play. I am in on day one for this game.

Does anyone has a pic of the arcade gun talked about here? I mean, i just heard about this game now and i doubt this game is still around in the arcades...

I know there's no way in hell it would happen, BUT how awesome would online multiplayer be?

Also, Cosmos, thanks for the pic of the updated wii gun. Hadn't seen it since they changed the look again.

Wow, now i see why people like this game... thanks for the pic of the gun, niceeee. Actually, if one is crafty enough, he/she can mod a cheapy airsoft rifle to fit the Wiimote, now, that would be a cool project...

Its at almost all the Dave and Busters I've ever been to... (be sure to get the million dollar magarita while playing... haha!)

Yosuke Okunari: You will only use the Wii Remote to play the game. The game menus will have almost the same performance as the usual Wii menus. This style of only using the Wii Remote is very similar to the atmosphere of the arcade version, but we will also include the vibration and sound features of the Wii Remote.

Yosuke Okunari: This time, the game supports four-player gameplay. The two-player gameplay of the arcade version is very exciting, but we want the Wii users to play Ghost Squad when inviting friends and playing games with four friends. I can't tell you the details yet, but we want to offer enjoyment of competing skills with friends other than just the co-op mode similar to the two-player multiplayer of the arcade version.

Yosuke Okunari: The graphics are customized for the Wii console. However, I think the users who have played the arcade version should have little discomfort.

Yosuke Okunari: Ghost Squad is not a series title, but we thought it would be perfect for our first challenge on the new hardware. And we also think the depth of the game is suited for home video games. Of course, Sega still has a lot of very attractive gun shooting games and in my personal opinion, I think we should continue releasing them on Wii. However, I can not tell you about our future plans yet.

I'm gonna have to buy one of those third part guns for this game even if I don't want to because I'm too hyped for this one. And don't get me started on the possibility of House of the Dead on Wii.

I'm all for light gun games on the Wii. That duck hunt mini game in Wii Play was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The only thing I'm worried about is the pricing. $20-30 would be the sweet spot. Anything beyond that is too much. $30 is almost pushing it. The exception being something like a House of the Dead or Time Crisis collection. I wouldn't mind paying $40-$50.

Wow, i knew nothing about this game until this thread, and having jsut read it and the IGN interview, if they pull this off i will gladly pay $50 day one for a well done lightgun shooter.

I'm in for $29.99. Anything more better include a gun attachment. Otherwise, lightgun games just don't have the depth and substantial gameplay to deserve a full price sticker.

Otherwise no thanks.

I doubt this game will go for less than $40, but I'd buy it at that price. Also don't forget that to get House of the Dead on the Wii we have to support this game. If this game tanks don't expect the other light gun games to follow.

The arcade game was pretty good, best light gun game to come out in a long time. That gun in the arcade is AWESOME. Like a SCAR-H from R6:V.

Unfortunately that is an experience that is limited to the arcade.

I hope they include an actual light gun mode in this game (no cursor, calibrate for position), but I have a feeling that they won't. He failed to actually answer the IR calibration question in the interview.

I've actually been noticing Ghost Squad in a few local movie theaters lately. Gave it a shot and was quite fun. Without a peripheral it will be severely lacking, mainly because this is a machine gun game.

As far as pricing, the PS2 gun games came at $39.99 game only, $59.99 with the Guncon. Putting out GS at $49.99 is somewhat fair, as it looks like they're trying to make the arcade game deeper and the Wiimote in itself has the build in "light gun". At $49.99, toss in a cheap plastic shell and you got a deal.

Listen to all those "negative Nancys"! This game is gonna kick ASS! All you got to say is that you all are cheap? Doesn't that go without saying, fellas?

Played this at Dave & Busters last night, game is pretty sweet. The gun itself is the highlight though, can only hope they bring something similar to the wii.

If by similar you mean not even close then yeah. A peripheral that big would be too expensive to make and not sell well since gun games don't sell well already.

You also have to take into account that Nintendo may not allow REAL light guns on the Wii because of the wiimote, which means some sort of shell you plug the wiimote into - which may or may not suck.

Speaking of light guns I'd like to ask those who know if all light guns have to be plugged into the tv directly like the guncon 2 or if you can make a light gun that just plugs into the game console?

Yes, there has to be some form of passthrough to register where you are shooting. However, with the Wii, the sensor bar acts as such. So it wouldn't have to be hooked up to the TV to work.

Light guns that plug into the tv only work with standard televisions and will never work with LCDs. LCD light guns now use something very similar to the Wii, with sensors around the tv screen.

Since the Wii is equipped with this already, the question is, are developers going to implement actual light gun controls or not. So far, most have chosen the path of the onscreen reticule, which is fine for FPS, but I prefer to aim and shoot in my light gun games.

Going to keep an eye on this one...looks cool. Love light gun games and I'm guessing it's just a matter of time before there's a flood of 'em coming to Wii...

1. Ghost Squad lets you turn off the reticule. How well that will work is still up in the air though.
you can even turn off the cursor on the fly, and try to aim traditionally (though from the looks of it the game is still just cursor-based, so good luck hitting anything unless you've learned the ways of the force).
2. If a light gun came out for the Wii how would we go about calibrating it so that it shoots exactly where we point on the screen? Right now if you are too close or too far the cursor on the screen doesn't show up where you are actually pointing so how is this remedied? I've heard that if you place the sensor bar right under the TV screen (ie stuck on the tv directly. Not under or on top), that it gives this effect, but I haven't tried it.

With any LCD light gun, you have to calibrate the gun for the position where you play. For the ones I've used, just pause the game, put the gun in calibration mode, and aim and shoot at the corners of the tv screen. This lets the game know the spatial relation betwen the sensor and the tv screen.

Calibration is really quick and easy. The draw back, of course, is that everytime you change positions, you might have to recalibrate. It works for LCD light guns, I don't see why devs haven't already implemented this as an option in any of their guns games.

the new "reload" system in HOD4 gets really annoying quick.

Ghost Squad is a fun game, not sure if I'd pay $50 for it though (as others have mentioned)
