This had better be good on every level. It's like a dream game for me who cares little for Star Wars and all your Light Sabering, but would adore living out the childhood fantasy of strapping on the proton back and busting some heads... in a spiritual sense, of course.

As much fun as a Wiimote Proton Pack sounds, I'd much rather see it on the 360:

Daroga, you know you mah boy, but take a closer look at the front of the magazine cover.

Top right corner, to be exact. Clearly says "Coming soon to Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and Playstation 2."

I imagine you mean "exclusive" in terms of GameInformer exclusive revealing, not system/platform. But your title is a bit misleading. Or, at the least, I could see how it might be misleading.

I sort of missed the boat that left for the Ghostbusters Love Island, so I'm not frothing at the mouth, but eh. I'm willing to wait to see what comes of all of this.

Glad you made a thread, cause I was too lazy to do more than post in the GG thread. Wii version = PS2 version + waggle confirmed. :whistle2:(

Maybe it's just me (and I only watched a bit of the first one), but that isn't Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters was a more light hearted movie. Those videos are way to serious, once again in my opinion. It's like a supernatural 3rd person shooter that is using the Ghostbuster name.

I would prefer it on the Wii, because I can't aim for s==t with an analog stick (first person or 3rd person). One of the reasons (besides motion sickness) I have never been a fan of action shooting games on consoles.

This is one case where the addition of "waggle" (or more likely, "pointle") could really make the experience.

From the 360 version. I imagine some similar in a lower resolution for the Wii.

Nope. The Wii, PS2 and DS versions will be "family-friendly," in contrast to the 360, PS3, and PC versions.

But the "family-friendly" version is being done by Red Fly, who are intriguing me with Mushroom Men, so they might be able to put together something nice.

Publisher is particularly optimistic for the chances of "Ghostbusters" because, unlike the young male-targeted "Scarface," it has the potential to appeal to children and adults. Developer Terminal Reality is making a "Ghostbusters" game for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 aimed primarily at the core gamer demographic, while Red Fly Studios is making a version for Playstation 2, Wii and DS designed more for families and casual gamers.
Not sure why anyone gives this schmuck at Varity an exclusive; guy managed to shit on Galaxy in a "review" while recommending users check out "Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, now available for PS3."

I honestly think that is a good way to go with a Ghostbuster title. That 360 stuff seems to dark to be a Ghostbusters game. Seems like any other title with a ghostbuster license.

I'm waiting to get excited to see some gameplay action for the Wii. It'll be very interesting to see how it all pans out.

I almost hope the PS3 succeeds. That way the PS2 can die and games will stop being made for it.

Then finally the Wii will stop getting its awful ports. "UUGGHHHH! Look how horrible the Wii's graphics are! And the controls feel tacked on!!!" That's because it's a PS2 game with tacked on controls.

Back when there was a "Most Wanted Wii Games" thread, I wanted Ghostbusters. Now that its coming true I'm just scared. Though if the can somehow release a pedal for the trap thingy, I will go nuts.

I wonder what could be different.
I don't recall the ghostbusters being hardcore or dropping the F bomb 1000 times or anything.

Good news! The Wii/PS2 version will not be a horribly torn apart and kiddified version of the 360/PS3 version. They have a short blurb in GI (focus is on the HD versions). The graphics are cartoony, as expected - I'll look into scanning it tomorrow if anyone would like.

Single-player story is the same in both versions, but maps are repurposed for multiplayer and have new maps specifically for multiplayer. It supports 1-2 players on PS2, 1-4 players on Wii. So far it only mentions splitscreen co-op and adversarial modes, hopefully online gets in there before its release in 08.
The largest difference from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions is found in the adversarial modes where players battle it out in a ghosts versus Ghostbusters free for all. Ghosts will be able to phase through certain points in the walls, floors, and ceiling. And many, like Slimer, have the ability to fly. Ghosts can also sneak up behind players and scare them, temporarily reducing their max health. Busters are equipped with a standard array of proton packs and traps and each one has a different special ability. Ray, for example will be able to spot where ghosts are going to come through the wall.
More good news! The Wii version will be the lead SKU (for the non-HD implementation), so it'll be a Wii->PS2 port, rather than the other way around as we're used to. Hopefully that means some well-done motion controls.

2.)The Nintendo Wii is our primary version of the Ghostbusters game. We are pushing that hardware to its maximum potential. Where necessary, the PS2 might have some aspects reduced (i.e. only 2-player multiplayer instead of the Wii’s 4-player). But overall, Terminal Reality’s Infernal Engine allows us to maximize each hardware set easily.

Nice. Expecting good things from this then. If Sony was smart they would encourage Developers to do more of this and keep games pumping out for the PS2. Thus continous sales of the PS2.

This game looks like Gears of War. I've had this game in my gamefly Q a while since it was announced. I really hope the put effort into the Wii version so it looks polished and doesn't play like the next gen version, one can hope!

i don't mind that it's cartoony, considering the source material is pretty lighthearted. the scene where they're trying to catch slimer was underwhelming... i hope catching ghosts is more dramatic in the final game.

I also like the cartoony visuals of the Wii version, but there's no way I'll pick it up over the 360 version. It's too bad they could of made the Wii version a sidestory so that I could justify picking up both.

Never mind that is not the game coming to the 360. That was a game done by a different company who never had the consent of Vivendi-Universal and has since been canceled. That footage needs to die.

The new GB game =/= that old "gears of war" style video.

Maybe it has died - you just complained about a six-month-old post.

Botticus, thank you for keeping this alive - I always forget about it but every time I read about it I get excited. Same with the Bob Ross game.

this may be the first multi console title I pick up for the Wii instead of the 360 using your DS as a PKE meter is freaking brillant!
DS-as-PKE Meter *NOT* happening

Silly me. Thinking a developer would actually try to do shit for a Wii game.
It's not that discouraging. Maybe it was because I didn't have a GBA, but the GBA tie-in that was in Wind Waker felt forced to me. The Tinkle Tuner, it was. Ugh.

GC/GBA connectivity isn't wholly comparable considering that it required an extra cable. The points you guys make are somewhat valid, but there's enough difference to be considered.

I'm looking at it as an owner of the game and the console it's developed for, so in that sense GC/GBA connectivity required a cable AND a GBA. The situations are hardly dissimilar: you're building in features that are only accessible to a select subset of consumers.

Didn't Luigi's Mansion have almost exactly the same kind of feature, where your GBA was a make-shift boo detector? The GBA was featured a lot in the game, so I would imagine the connectivity was there. I just wasn't moneybags enough at the time to afford both a GC and a GBA. And a cable.

Dothog, when did you become no fun? The cable isn't a big enough distinction, but it is worth noting.

For example, if all consoles allowed local LAN, and one of them could only do it with cat5 cabling, but the other could do it all wirelessly, it would be worth noting.

I wasn't going to get Ghostbusters anyway, so it's not like this is a big issue to me any other way. It's just that this is the second time in a week or so that we've had a developer say one thing, hype it up, and then dismiss it right at the end (same with Boom Blox).

If you're too goddamn lazy to do it, why bother mentioning it at all? Unless you're all related to Perrin Kaplan, in which case you are only 80% to blame instead of the full monty.
Dothog, when did you become no fun?
It was 'Nam. I saw things I cannot forget. It changed me, man.
My point was the need for a cable was of diminished importance next to the need for a GBA or DS to enjoy the feature.

I won't be getting Ghostbusters either. I'll just play Luigi's Mansion again. And was Perrin Kaplan in full monty? Imagine the cock on her.

I'm sure her's pales in comparison to Anne Coulter's, or Nancy Grace's.

Actually, Nancy Grace can't have a dick, because she is a dick. I haven't yet run across a dick having it's own dick, but maybe I'm just watching the wrong anime to satisfy that achievement.

This thread was at the top when I replied. Also, there is someone from YESTERDAY commenting on the "Gears of War" look of the gameplay. I appreciate you not reading all the posts and being a dick though.
:whistle2:(

At least they have to have aiming with the remote.

Don't they?
They have to if they expect it to win out over the 360 version.
