GitS: Solid State Society LE Tin Pre-Order $15 at BB.com.

$12.99 online again!

I placed another order for instore pickup this Sunday. The $17 shipped copy will be going back later.

The weekly ad shows the picture of the regular edition for $12.99. Very likely the online store messed up again. It would be interesting to see what the LE would ring up for in the store ;)

For the GitS steelbook, the inside security tag is located DIRECTLY UNDER the supplemental dvd disc. Hence, that disc has noticeable scratches on the get go. I think this is a packaging defect for ALL the limited edition dvds in the first release batch. So be wary and get the scratch remover ready...

WTF! Were they brain-dead?
WTF! Were they brain-dead?
I agree, they dropped the ball on this one...my copy was shipped to me late last week and somehow the bonus disc was scratch free.

good stuff thanks for the quick heads up.

Mine arrived... dented all to hell to the point of being basically crushed. I didn't open it and plan on going into a B&M store to get it exchanged. I have an odd feeling this will be annoying.

Anyone who thinks they missed it might not be out yet. I just went to a B&M Best Buy today, and found that despite the ad's showing of cheap version, the SKU number had the tin version.
The register still rang it up as $30, but showing an employee of the probable mistake got me the deal. So it may be best to check out a local BB to see if they also had the mistake.

I got to Best Buy pretty early this morning and was quite surprised when my copy rang up for $12.99 instead of $29.99. :D

So the SKU under the picture was the tin version? Last time they wouldn't give me Avatar S1 because the picture was incorrect and the text was. I bet this time they'll say the picture was right and the text is wrong.

I went today because I was too hasitant to get it online (Considering I havent watch the series, but striving hard to get them)

I found 2 left, and they were labeled (in store label under the item) $12.99
Score.
Not quite, I am told by the biscuit that the 12.99 is actually 14.99 for the regular.

So we argue, and she ends up calling her boss, boss says she has to honor it, but throws away the tag along with the SKU that will allow any other CAG to obtain it. So out of spite I buy the other one on the floor.

So now I have two. This is in the RGV, and if you dont know what RGV is, you are not from the area, just in case I took the last two from the Best Buy here that will be sold this cheap.

If anyone wants to trade anything for my second copy, I can send it to you or if you are willing to pay for it thats fine to. Ill rather do this first that flip it on Ebay.

I got in on the deal but was charged 14.99 and yet apparently it went down to 12.99. Anyone care to explain why it never updated?

Also it sounds like some people got out of paying sales tax. Is there a state without a best buy?

Thanks in advance.

John

There are a few states without a Best Buy, but also a few states with no sales tax (e.g. Oregon).

Haha, sometimes when battling for legitimate deals I see this look in their faces that makes me feel like they want to hit me.

Of course, they are fucking jealous.
I would be too if i didnt know about CAG.

just imagine working at CC and having some mexican walk up to you and buy a 512 MB mp3 player like nobody's business.

Caught that one in another thread here, its been a good day.

The label I saw at best buy today clearly said SSS Limited Edition for $12.99. Not our fault that they messed up. I only saw one copy left, the other one was being held for me for online pickup :D

I was kind of afraid they'd pick up on the regular/limited edition pricing mistake (if it is one) and picked out a regular edition copy for me, but good thing they brought me a LE

Kinda Funnies! My local Bestbuy (Independence, MO) had 2 copies LE version tag $19.99 Each. And 20 copies Regular version tag $39.99 and the Divider Tag $12.99 for LE version but Rangup $29.99. Lucky i get the Printout from BB online & the Divider from the store so they honor it for $12.99 plus taxes ... Kinda sad they do not let me use the 10% off coupon.

I'll call they corporate later this week cos i felt disrespectful & rejected whenever i used the coupon. Also, my american friend used the coupon with no hassle.

Went to one best buy here. They had literally 30 copies of the regular edition, none of the LE. I guess they are expecting this thing to sell like the original movie (which BTW just had another re-release that comes with both the dvd & umd).

I checked out my local Best Buy and no luck with any pricing screw ups.

However, with the Right Stuf "bargainboom" sale which ends today, you can get the LE for a whole dollar (!!!) less than Best Buy's correct price of $29.99.

I thought I'd wait until today when I could go in-store to see if I could get the same deal without paying shipping. I missed it online now going in-store looking for a mistake is about the only shot I have.

Why's this hypothetical guy gotta be Mexican?

Anyway, I went in and they totally knew about the price mistake and gave it to me, AND let me use the 10% off coupon. I got it for $12 something out the door. BAM!

I saw this deal at dvdtalk

20% off code for any order before 7/31/07
coupon code: WB68SP

my buddy scored 5 BlueRay movies: 300, Blood Diamond, The Departed, Dirty Dozen, and Full Metal jacket for $97 shipped.

I went to Best Buy today and asked how much was the LE DVD, the guy said it was $29.99 and it rang up as $29.99.

Because I happen to be mexican, considering I said I resided in the RGV region, that is Rio Grande Valley. AKA USA/Mexico Border @ gulf of mexico.

That isnt a hypothetical situation, it happened yesterday ;)

Did BB send it in a plain envelope?

I'm still waiting for mine.
wrong thread?
and coupon don't work
You should not give up.... keep copy & paste and activate the coupon then you'll the the discount price.

[PM sent earlier]

Just giving you a hard time.

I probably got the worst look ever when I got the Avatar S1 price mistake honored by a clerk. Usually it's the guy clerks that get the most pissy. ******* *******.
Did BB send it in a plain envelope?

Yeah, it was in an oversized plain brown envelope. The only way I can describe it is that if you can shrink wrap something with thin cardboard, that's how it was packed. I was actually surprised that mine didn't get damaged. I haven't opened the case yet but on the outside, everything seems fine.

Got mine a few days ago in that ridiculously huge brown envelope. I might try to exchange it at the local BB though. It's a bit dented on one of the corners and the bottom disc was scratched by the stupid security thing.

I got mine at the store and made sure there weren't dents on mine but just noticed that there are parts where the paint is peeled off due to scratching. One of the drawbacks of using steelbooks, I guess.

I also noticed the security tag issue, and my Extras DVD has a light scratch on it but I can live with it. What bothers me more is there is a weird splotch underneath where the security tag was, like under the plastic.

Mine finally arrived today, it came in a box that could easily fit two DVD cases in it. I guess it got slammed pretty hard during shipment, because the part holding the CD is broke, so the CD was floating around inside the case when I opened that. And of course, there's a circular scratch on the Extras disc thanks to the most idiotic place to put a security tag ever. :\

I know some people love the Steelbooks, but personally I think they suck. Hard. I had to replace my Hellsing Volume 2 LE because the piece of shit held the disc so tight that when I tried to pull it out the fucking disc literally snapped in half. So fuck the Steelbooks IMO. Hopefully, they're just a fad.

As for the GitS DVD, I might try to take it back if I see that I'm going to be near a BB this weekend or next week. I'm not going to waste gas driving up there because of this, though.

EDIT\ I just thought to check the instore availability through Bestbuy.com, and it seems no BB even remotely near me has it in stock. Ugh. :\ Well the CD looks great, it's not a big deal I guess as long as the Extras disc plays (I have DVDs that look 10x worse than it and they play perfectly, so I'm not all that worried that it won't.)

I went to BB earlier and this is what happened:

a) I found the last copy [there were 4 copies yesterday] of the LE DVD and I went to a nearby counter.
b) I asked the guy in the counter to scan the item. It came up to be $29.99
c) I then explained to him that according to the weekly ad in the BB website, the item should be $12.99.
d) He then calls the senior employee and asks if they price match online deals; the senior employee then said yes.
e) He then looks at the print-out I have [of the deal] and he said that the deal is valid with the regular edition and not the limited edition
f) The senior employee then points out the difference in the pictures of the limited edition and the regular edition.
g) I then explained to him that I was actually looking at the item number and I pointed out that the ad and the LE item number was the same.
i) Finally, I asked if there was any way for him to honor that price and he insistedly said 'NO'.

**I'm trying another Best Buy tomorrow.. hopefully they'll honor it for me.
**I really want this DVD...

I found that my store actually had an in-store sign that said, "Limited Edition $12.99" and that was the best way to get them to give you the good price.

On a small tangent, on the Extras disc there's an interview that talks about the possibility of a third season of GiTS: SAC if the overseas sales do well enough. So people buy this disc!

I went today and didn't pay attention to the ad. However, I did find something strange. I noticed that underneath the 29.99 tag there was another tag. I peeled off the 29.99 to find the tag said 19.97. This might explain why the website was selling it for so cheap. The numbers matched and I was able to get it for the 19.97. Granted it is not as spectacular as the amount some of you guys got it for, but still.

yea the store tag in austin said limited edition thats how i got the steel book for 12.99 just told them it was supposed to be 12.99 the cashier put in the new price

***The clerk told me if anything is scratched to just bring back the receipt and they will replace the item.***

So, about there being a 3rd Season, this item has to sell well....If we are buying it @12.99, is that considered selling well?

So, about there being a 3rd Season, this item has to sell well....If we are buying it @12.99, is that considered selling well?

From the publisher side, they sell the item to retailers at a specific cost (usually much lower than what we pay but retailers buy in large bulk quantities) and the retailer charges whatever the manufacturer suggest's for a retail price (MSRP), in this case, $12.99

. The publisher only counts how many units it sells from its own retail site (in this case Manga Entertainment) and how many it sells to retailers (typically once retailers supply empty they place more orders, and that's how they count units sold).

So we dont actually have to worry about how much we pay retail stores for the item, we just have to make sure that store keeps restocking? Makes sense

So it really was $12.99? I picked it up a few days ago on my way to work. And since I was running late for work I didn't have time to argue with the cashier about the price... I can go talk to someone about this right?
