As the title says, God of War for the PS2 is going Temporary Price Cut at Target beginning November 22nd through December 19th. This is YMMV, but it definitely applies to Midwest Targets and seemingly most all Targets nationwide.
$23.88 for this game is a great deal! Thanks OP and person who mentioned the coupon.
Only for titles $29.99 and above... I did score a good deal on Warriors with it though, $33 a/c
you can get it now for 20 dollars at best buy if you are persistant.
How does persistance make the price drop to $20?
still must wait for 20 bucks then 5 dollar BB coupon
Me too. I have plenty of cheapass games to keep be busy until then.

Finally, a price I can pay for this game

General consensus is this is one of those games that'll never go GH, right?

Ultimately this game gets to $20 and EB will have it PO for $17.99 or $13.50 after online coupons and I will use my store credit to get it (which was gotten by at least doubling my money from the cash I paid). So, I'll pay $6 for a used (but complete copy).

Until then, I'm busy.

I'll bite on it now. It'll be worth the 9 stinkin dollars, since it'll probably be at least another 8 months before it's 20 bucks. Thanks for the post.

It's a great time to be a cheap ass gamer.

No, most popular sony games will go GH at some point

Yeah, I forgot that it's Sony developed.

This thing is most certainly going GH, no? I mean, it sold the requisite number of copies, right? It's also been almost 9 months since it came out.
Why would this be YMMV? I thought all Target drops/sales are universal except for clearences.
Temporary price cuts vary by the district sometimes.

Thanks OP. Picked it up in Apex, NC. This should be in a different region if you are in South Dakota! A few more reports and we can remove that YMMV.
Even hotter with the $5 off coupon at Target, which expires on the 23rd.

Edit, doh, it works only on games $29.99 or higher.
When I saw the original thread I thought it was dropped to $29.99, then you had the brilliance about the coupon... I was psyched and ready.

I get to Target this morning and check the price in the scanner... to my disappointment, I see that it's on sale for $28.88. Not fucking cool Target. Not fucking cool. $28.88 seems like a random sale price... it almost seems like they dropped it an extra 1.11 to avoid people using the coupon on it!

Guess I'm waiting for greatest hits. Maybe before the end of the year so I can finally use on of those $5 off any PS2 coupons I have at BB...

Oh well, thanks anyway, OP. Good deal for those not as cheap as myself. :)

Edit: Price drop was active in the Poughkeepsie, NY store -- the game wasn't marked as such in the case, but the item scanner showed it as being on sale for $28.88.

At Target, a price that ends in 88 cents indicates a temporary price drop or something like that. It's just the way their system works.

So I show up at my local target (Mobile, AL.) today after work, and head over to the games section. After a few frantic moments of searching, I find the gem I was looking for: God of War. It was marked $49.99, and my heart sank momentarily. Pulling myself together, I ask a clerk to get out a copy for me, so I can see how much it costs. She looks at the tag, then at me, and remarks condescendingly "It's $49.99". I give her my best "go-to-hell" look, and ask her to scan it. We head over to the register, my stomach tying knots that a Boy Scout would envy.

The gun passes over the UPC code, and I watch her face intently as it screws up in confusion. "Huh. It's $28.88." I smile with my own brand of condescension, and reply "I know." After paying a great price for this incredible game, I stroll triumphantly out the door, clutching my pride and joy close to my heart, feeling like a king.

Okay, so it wasn't that dramatic.....but it was a good read, right? ;)

Moral of the story: Price cut confirmed in South Alabama. Woot!

I called and the guy on the phone said it was on a "price break," I asked him how much but he wouldn't tell me, so I assume that it's $28.88. I'll go check it out later, hopefully it is that price :)

Just picked this up at Target. And with some persistance, was able to use the $5 off coupon as well. Total = $25.85. :D Thanks to the original poster.

Just called the Target in Fair Lakes shopping center, in Fairfax, VA. He said it was $49.99. Then I asked him to scan it, and he said the system is reporting it as $28.88.

Confirmed in the Mission Valley Target store in San Diego, picked it up there yesterday for $28.88. Not sure how many they have left though...

cool so you got a noob frienly cashier to use the 5 bucks of any 29.99 game or higher?

Intown Atlanta, GA

Confirmed God of War is $28.88 at the Target on Moreland (Edgewood Shopping District).

The crappy thing about this Target is sales tax is 8%
Not to be a curmudgeon, but do we really need more confirmations? Obviously the system is nationwide.
You are being a curmudgeon . . . let the kids have their fun, old man :)

I picked up the game for $23.88 after coupon. It appears the computer system automatically took the $5 off even though the coupon specified $29.99 or higher. It may be worth a try (but hurry up, the coupon expires today).
