i was in gamestop last night looking for games to purchase for my new ps3 (my 5th xbox broke down in 5 years so i decided to go ps3). i saw god of war 3 and thought it looked cool so i decided to buy it used.

when i got home and opened the case i noticed it had a unused code for the making of video and a few other things such as skins. when i popped the disc into my system on the main screen it said "god of war 3 : ultimate edition

my question is shouldn't game stop have checked if this was a ultimate edition disk b4 hand and shouldn't they have charged more for it?. i only payed 19.99 and got a ton of bonus items with it

Someone sold the game that came in the collectors edition back to gamestop. The person who sold it probably got the same amount trade-in as the regular edition so you just got lucky haha.

Yeah, you got lucky :) GoWIII UE is actually one of the games that has different title on the Main Menu screen. Of course, GoWIII UE's main attraction is the Pandora's box...

I think what actually happens is the dlc that is redeemed unlocks the UE title screen

You most likely got one of the copies of God Of War III that came from the Ultimate Editions that Gamestop converted over to used a while ago.

Unfortunately everything besides the game was chucked in the dumpster, since some CAG's went digging and found a couple Pandora's Box replicas soon after the conversion was mentioned here on CAG.

Of course, the U.S. version of the UE paled in comparison to the UK one where every extra that was in the version here was on actual physical media(CD/DVD) AND the UE there came with the God Of War Collection in the box to boot.

I don't think so... I inserted the disc first before I redeemed the codes (I usually watch the bonus stuff after playing the game to avoid spoilers).
