A collector's edition for God of War: Ascension has appeared on Amazon.

The edition, available for pre-order now or $79.99, features an 8-inch Kratos Statue, steelbook case, avatars, dynamic theme, soundtrack, a pass for "all future DLC releases" and code for double multiplayer XP.

This may be one of the best CE's I'd seen in awhile. You get ALL future DLC, and a statue a steelbook case and more and it's $79.99 instead of what I believe most CE's this gen are $99.99?

Just noticed release date not until March 2013, I was thinking it came out this year. But anyway for those who like to preorder ahead of time...I may lock one up myself soon.

Yup, pre-ordered soon after it was announced. At least this CE makes sense unlike the one we got for God of War III.

I'm really looking forward to the multiplayer aspect in this game, can't wait!

thanks OP! I just pre-ordered one, figured what the hell..hard to beat $80. I bought the GoW 3 CE at launch, I remember some GSs clearing it out at like $40 or something, but not much lower than that..
 
Yeah I posted this earlier but I literarly just decided to jump on it now. This is the first game I've preordered probably since the PS2 I think, 7 or 8 years ago. I usually never jump on CE's because I dont care about statues and stuff, but all DLC included made me have to go for it.

I love the GoW series, but it's tough to imagine paying full price for a new one after seeing how bloody fast God of War 3 dropped in price.
 
It's a sweet CE...I swore myself I wouldn't buy God of War until later down the line though...crap.

Good price, solid physical offerings, and digital content.

Honestly, if it added in an artbook it would have been perfect.

Although we'll see about the quality of the statue when it comes out.
 
I rarley buy collectors editions but this is freaking god of war !!!!! Not to mention for 15$ more you get all of that sweet stuff that the regular edition doesnt have. Ill pre order this edition :)

While I can't speak for everyone, I'm not pre-ordering for the DLC; I'm pre-ordering for the statue.
 
I'm not all that excited about the DLC pass. Santa Monica has never made an MP game and the DLC will likely be all MP based. As far as we know, it could be nothing more than shitty weapon/character skins or maps, which wouldn't be that great either given how tiny the demo was (and I doubt other levels will be much bigger).
 
I was not that interested in the game, was going to wait till it was cheaper. But when I saw what the CE came with at price....I was sold, damn you Sony you know how to get me.
 
This is a Sony's CE, so chances are they will make a ton of them and see them dropping in price later on.

History repeats itself on Kill Zone 3 Helghast Ed, Infamous 2 Hero Ed, Uncharted 3 CE, GT 5 CE, ...

The only exception to it may be LBP2 CE and GOW 3 CE. Though they were still not too hard to find shortly after release.
 
Damn statues get me EVERY time! Pre-order is really tempting although chances are the price will drop before ya know it.

Outside of a very YMMV target clearance cycle GT5 CE has been very hard to find and has actually gone up in value.

You're correct about KZ3 and I2 and UC3

I played the MP at E3 and it was a lot better than I personally expected. It is a lot of fun, probably more so than the single player (I'm not a big fan of God of War, I have played every single game in the series so far, and I really liked what I played at E3).

I don't see the reason for this thread though, seeing as this isn't a deal at all but the usual Collector's Edition for the usual price.

It's become completely standard for CEs to get a thread when they go up for pre-order. It is useful for those that are interested. Isn't what this bloody forum is for!?

Also, screw the statue. Steelbook and DLC for an extra $20 is plenty worth it... I never like the statues. haha

Could not agree more.

That's why I rarely support DLC in general, especially when it is simply an unlock code on the disc you already own.

Big shame on most developers.

Back on subject... I will buy this. I like steelbooks. A lot. Statue doesn't hurt either.

Good luck finding a retailer that will ship that internationally. And even if you do, good luck understanding the game since it'll be in Spanish.

Plus, it sucks that it doesn't include Ascension.

I am not much of a collector, but I love the whole God of War saga and would buy that Omega edition in a heartbeat if it were released in English, be it a UK or US version. I love these games and Ascension looks sick too.

God of War is the series that made me buy a PS3. I first played it on the PSP and loved the game. I also own all the GoW games so I ordered the CE.
