GOG.com-Evil Genius for $10!

Wolfpup

CAGiversary!
I just got an email:

http://www.gog.com/en/page/newsletter_012/

That mentioned they've got Evil Genius now, and it's $10.

Amazon still carries this for $25, so this is an absolute steal.

I'd buy it, but I bought it at launch after playing the demo.

It's...you're basically playing a pre-Bond getting cool cheesy super-villain, building up your evil lair and whatnot, which is really fun.

It is a fun game! I got it from Direct 2 Drive with my hitpoints a couple years ago. It can get hard when the super agents start showing up and ruining all your carefully laid plans!

uhm GoGamer had the game for 7.90 when they had their last 48 hour sale.

shipping though is roughly 3 bucks too so it washes clean for those that had wanted a physical copy.

oh well...

I want to get it but no monies.... GOG is fleshing out to be great.

Just wish they had better sales than 25% off :p

Apparently, Rebellion got the rights to some older Sierra-published titles.

GOG is also adding Ground Control, Empire Earth Gold, and Lords of Magic SE from them.

Is Empire Earth worth getting? That sounds familiar (not out yet though), like people liked it.

Bucky, Steam's got activation though. Buying it from GOG you actually own it, so this or the retail version would be the way to go.

I already purchased from steam, good deal, waiting for this deal for a long time.

Evil Genius is an awesome game but it shows why so few developers innovate these days: They SUCK at it.

Evil Genius was terribly balanced. Even the professional EG fans on the EG boards will generally tell you nonsense like "Leave the game on all night before interrogating the maid* to get cash." or similar nonsense. Succeeding at EG is just way too unwieldy, and you have to play the game a series of very specific, not-entirely intuitive or enjoyable ways to keep your base from being a slaughterhouse.

Don't get me wrong. I knew all this and I STILL bought EG on Steam for $10. I just think the reason we don't get more games like it isn't because nobody is buying them, it is because developers aren't talented enough to balance their games and not force players to jump through ridiculous hoops to make the game fun.

*I spent an hour trying to interrogate that damn maid because I couldn't figure out that I needed to RIGHT CLICK on the interrogation chair after choosing interrogate rather than left click on it. Seriously.

Evil Genius is awesome and well worth your $10

Honestly, as much as I enjoyed it, I don't really consider EG very innovative. It is a weaker Dungeon Keeper with an Austin Powers skin.
