GOG Deals Thread

7th Legion, BloodNet and Rex Nebular are from my wishlist though I wish the sale was better and not sure if I want all those games. I'm a fan of adventure games so likely will just pick up Rex Nebular though it's not a high want...the other two games just look OK.

Rex Nebular has only been on GOG since March and is seeing its first sale. I think some of the other games in this sale are also relatively new to GOG. I'd guess we'll see a better price on Rex Nebular this Summer or Fall.

True I'd much prefer at least 70%...not like my backlog isn't already bad just on GOG alone...haha. I think this week in indie bundles alone I added at least....10 games maybe....I'll never kick this backlog's ass.

The game wants to take you down a certain path. That is fine with me, but you must purely think of the game as a glorified visual novel. I am interested in the other games by Phoenix Online though. The graphics are very well done.
I've been playing The Last Door since it's been in beta (and also before Phoenix Online decided to go the publisher route and market The Last Door), and I can tell you it's the first indie adventure game in recent years that utterly and TRULY does everything right that did the classics. Of course, it adds a modern touch, mind you, but if this game existed in the 80's or 90's, I can assure you it remain your favourite adventure game up through the present day.

It really is THAT unbelievably fantastic!

EDIT: I didn't mean to say that it's "clunky" like some of the older Sierra and Lucasarts games are, but it is SO reminiscent of the best adventure games that we know, that you MUST play it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that... As you may noticed, the game definitely matches the graphics of the adventure games of yesteryear, as well. So, if you don't like that style, or the inherent (slight) pixel hunting that comes with it, then don't purchase it wait until it's 70% off or higher.

I don't mind the old pixely games, but that one looks like a fucking parody on pixely games... It looks even MORE pixely.

I remember seeing the the trailer and thinking it looked great. Brought back memories of how SF and even anime SF used to be. I hope its a gameplay trailer.

Wow - I had totally forgotten about that game...
Yeah, I can entirely understand that, considering CD Projekt Red has kept their lips tightly sealed for the most part about Cyberpunk 2077. However, my brother-in-law was hired onboard specifically to work on the game, so I tend to have not forgotten about it (but it definitely is pushed towards the back of my mind, nonetheless). :p

Also, from what I understand about the direction and theme the Cyberpunk team is trying to go for, it's supposed to be to the effect of Ghost in the Shell, but a bit less graphic and abstract/existential. Bear in mind, though, that I never watched much (or really any anime) in my younger days, so this is all hearsay, seeing as I've never watched Ghost in the Shell, myself.

Isn't graphic, abstract, and existential the entire point of the cyberpunk genre?

Not that cyberpunk is nearly as relevant in 2014 as it was in 1984, but still.
Again, I'm only speaking from what I've been told, but yes, I do have to agree with you on this point. I'm guessing it will be less "Blade Runner-esque drama" and more action (seeing as it IS a modern RPG game, of course), but still with the sense of sci-fi philosophies that the cyberpunk genre brings with it.

Less graphic, so there's no exploding heads in Cyberpunk. I kind of wish they would have gotten Ghost in the Shell instead, from what I've seen of Cyberpunk it's not as interesting or well known.

Or this could just be about the Witcher mobile game that CD Projekt Red said they are working on.

You owe it to yourself to at least see the 1995 movie... There's a reason it's 94% positive on rottentomatoes.

There's not much Anime-wise I rave about anymore but that is one of the ones I still will. It's almost more foreign/art film than Anime as far as I'm concerned. The TV series and sequel film are just kind of eh I thought but the original film really is quite excellent and one of the few Anime I would recommend to people who normally don't like Anime.

The series was just way too fucking slow. And that's coming from someone who enjoyed the original Dot Hack...

I'll second this, the 1995 film is excellent... and yeah has that foreign/art film vibe, but the TV series is unremarkable.

Have you guys been watching the new GITS: Arise series? Its faster paced, but I think only 2 episodes are out, so I don't know what to think yet.

Admit it; you had to Google that quote, didn't you, boyo? :p
Just because you did doesn't mean the rest of us are uneducated, oldtimer.

...though I can see having read Catcher as being a point against me in the education department.

Wow - this thing is FAR off the rails.

#1.  I had the complete DVD set of Gits for about 5 years.  Never watched an episode and sold it.  Don't miss it a bit.  (And I do watch anime...  but ....)
#2.  Cyberpunk - Ugh...  Not a big fan of Blade Runner stuff.  It was weird...
#3 - Mobile announcement - NOOOOOOO

All that being said, CD Projekt has earned a good amount of trust.  I will certainly check out their new game.  If they do a cyber punk game, it will probably be superb!!
