GOG Deals Thread

I'm also very curious about Omikron. I haven't heard of it before, but the premise seems interesting, and then there's this.

...I mean, that almost sold me right there.
I ended up biting because I read more about it and the possessing the soul of the last person you touched thing is sort of similar to one of the main mechanics of Murdered that I really liked (same pub) so I'm hoping this was a spiritual predecessor to that.

Well according to ITAD, GMG and GOG have been trading off pricing it at $2.49 recently, so I'll wait for your impressions, if you think you'll be trying it out any time soon.

You know, if you're willing to #FakeCAG it up in a night of drunken game binging.

I'll try to give it a go at some point. I've been balancing Playfire reward playing, FIFA soccer fever, and then my general horror game obsession. Not to mention I'm supposed to be making a game too. lol

I bought Omikron almost 15 years ago for my Dreamcast. It's looked so good all these years collecting dust on my shelf that I just bought a virtual copy so it can collect dust on my virtual shelf as well.

I've gotta go out for a few hours, so same as before: if somebody sees Jade Empire for $2.99 again, I can pay you back via Amazon GC if you pick it up for me. Thanks.

Never bought from GOG before, how does the DRM-free thing work? Once you buy its tied to your account and you can download all you want?

Sorry if this is asked before.

So was Jade Empire a flash deal? I think that's about all I'll need from the Flash sales I saw.
Yeah. It was in the "second round" of flash deals, which is to say the batch that was only active for an hour after the sale initially started. Considering that we've never gotten it for below 60% off on GOG before, and that was an 80% off deal (my price point was 75%), I'm really hoping that wasn't just an enticement to get all the people who missed it to follow the sale for the rest of its duration and spend more money.

If it doesn't come back, I'm gonna be very annoyed.

EDIT:
NEVER MIND, it's coming back in half an hour. No guarantee yet that it's at the same price point, but every other repeat has been so far, so success! Probably.

anybody know when this is supposed to end? there are some games I want that I don't think will be in the flash sales
Excuse the double post, but...

I'd imagine it won't be for another few days. Even though this is quite different in format from previous GOG seasonal sales, I've noticed the big ones tend to last around five days or more, and they typically have a day towards the end (though strangely enough not always on the last day) where you can buy every daily deal from the whole sale, even the days that haven't occured yet.

I'd at least wait till Monday before you break down, if you decide to.

Jade Empire in next set of deals (activates in 30 minutes). I'm staying up till then though i'm pretty sleepy....guess I can watch an episode of an anime till then...or play a visual novel or just look at my Lego Simpsons Minifigs.

I think it's clear what has to happen here:

Ah makes me want to bust out my Lego tub out of the garage.....I do want that Ecto-1 vehicle Lego play set though....too bad it sold out on Amazon and it only seems to be available at Lego stores...

Is Blood Rayne 1 necessary for BR2?  I won't be huge on the story unless it is really great and don't like redundant games in my library if the sequel is far superior.

Thanks

I've never played BR2, but from what I've gathered, I don't think either is supposed to be particularly better than the other.

If it helps, in BR, you'll be fighting Nazis in the 30s and 40s, while in BR2, you'll be fighting secret vampire cults in the early 2000s.

All I remember from my time with Bloodrayne was going up behind people, sucking their blood and using them as a meat shield while I shot a gun...so must have been good fun...I say get both...they're cheap enough and 1 will come up again as a flash I'm guessing.

Incidentally, this thread over on the GOG forums has been tracking all the flash sales thus far. So if you want to see if a game has been featured as a flash, or simply want to check to see if something has repeated while you were away from the computer, that's probably the best place to go.

EDIT : Here's another helpful resource. Somebody put together a Google docs for the flash sale. Strangely enough though, there are a few games that are listed there which haven't shown up yet. Not sure how they'd know about the games being flash deals if they haven't appeared yet. So I guess you gotta take those entries with a grain of salt.

Very nice. The Rayman games are #1 on my want list on GOG. Looks like I only have to wait another day. I might pick up the Hitman games and the Wing Commander games that I'm missing as well.

Does anyone else sell the old Raymans? I noticed one or two on Gamersgate and UPlay but they are way overpriced and I don't trust them to not have some crappy Tages DRM still.

The good thing (or bad thing, depending on your point of view :p) is that many of the bundles are repeats from previous summer or holiday sales. Not as much to tempt me this time around since I have most of what I want from those bundles.

Hopefully Bloodrayne comes around one more time.I didn't realize it was both games and not just the first.
I'm not quite sure what your impression is right now, but just so everyone's on the same page here: they are selling Bloodrayne and Bloodrayne 2 separately, though both have been in the flash deals. I think BR2 has been on twice now, while the original has only been up once, though I may have missed something, since I haven't been paying as close attention since I grabbed JE.

If you already knew that, ignore me. Just wanted to be sure.

Would be nice if they actually went on sale together at the same time. :p

And DRM-FREE
OMG! Stop reading my mind!

EDIT:

Flash sale, SiN Gold for 2.49.
Yeah, I'm debating it. Just tested the old version of SiN on Steam.

Regardless - deciding whether I buy Sin Gold from GOG (all time low for any version this - and it also includes Wages of Sin expansion + is uncensored) or just stick w/ the old SiN Steam-version (lacking expansion and has some censored/changed content there) - might think of loading one of them onto the laptop.

I should look into if it's possible loading GOG version right on top of Steam-version.

Just so y'all know, it looks like Shadowrun Returns is upcoming in that list for GOG.

I still think HB Store had the better deal for SrR today (deal's dead now), since that came w/ both a Steam-key + DRM-FREE direct download from HB directly.

So just to clarify, if you buy SiN Emergence on Steam ($10 regular price; goes on sale for $2.49 sometimes) you get the original SiN too, right?

Not sure if that is how it works these days or how it works w/ digital-version from Steam.

But in the old days when I bought SiN Emergence from Retail on disc (which required Steam) - yes, that's exactly how it worked.

But, keep in mind - SiN: Steam-version is censored a bit (legal issues w/ copyrighted images + nudity censorship) and does NOT contain Wages of SiN expansion.

EDIT:

They (Ritual - who are the dev's + publisher for this) really should look into getting SiN: Gold Edition up on Steam.

It's silly that it's on GOG, but NOT on Steam.

It's an old game - and they should hit as many avenues as possible.

EDIT 2:

I'm in for Sin: Gold from GOG.

Just bought Tex Murphy.  I loved these games back in the day.

I loved the Thief ones also...  I still have those on disk.

Centauri is superb... and I have it on GOG.  Also comes with the expansion.  Nice game.

Bioforge...

My opinion on that game is the same as each game in the Alone in the Dark trilogy: was one of the best games I've played back then, but I don't think it aged well. I know I won't be playing it again, not because my backlog, but because the graphics and gameplay mechanics.

Out of curiosity, has anybody played Aarklash Legacy? Even if I do one day get it, I'm gonna be waiting a year or two for it to come down a lot more in price, but I'm kinda on the fence if it's even something I should be watching out for.
