GOG Deals Thread

66% off was GOG's new 75% off last sale...now it seems like 50% is GOG's 75% off this sale....and GOG you're going to make me buy 3 or 4 other games I don't want with it? Ummmmm...no.
Huh? Aren't the majority of games in this sale listed at 75% or more off? And if you don't like the bundles, it looks like you can just buy the individual games from the bundles at their discounted prices. Not sure what you're complaining about.

Didn't one of the sites (EA?) Say something a month or two back about they were going to start giving digital copies to those who had physical copies of old games? I remember thinking I could do that with a few of my old games but then I forgot about it.

Anyone remember reading about something like this?
EA always had that. Just talk to one of their Indians on support chat.

It's tempting, to be sure. No uplay to deal with. No Tages to deal with. The price is as good as it's been on Steam.

It's missing one of the POP games, but I already have that one on Uplay.
Which one has Tages or uPlay on Steam? I can't find any info about it...

A little of this: Shitty GOG math

So GOG is really close here, technically they aren't yanking my crank with their "up to" terminology...but really, couldn't quite make it to 75%....

Mostly this, though. Let's say I already own Walking Dead 1 on Telltale or Steam (I know ewwwww...DRM). So I remove WD1 from the bundle, I can now buy WD2 and WD: 400 days for 6.75 and 1.25 right? wrong. Here's what happens when I remove WD1 from the bundle.

That's a load of horse shit. Screw the God damn bundles and let me buy the individual games I want...

Also, don't get chocolate (shit) in my peanut butter, meaning: don't toss a Indie Gala Bundle fodder game in the bundle to force me to buy that along with 3 older games that, in order to get 74.999999% off, I have to purchase the $0.63 game from GOG for $2.99.

See above about horse shitty GOG bundles.

That's it. Please continue to hurt my whore feelings.

Peace out (drops mic).

Yup. But it's the only one I looked at on Steam to check DRM. I did check others on Nuuvem, where they aren't Steam and do have Tages. Well, the one I checked, anyway.
Yep. All Nuuvem's PoP games, except The Forgotten Sands, are Tages :/

Ah, I see. I just saw the individual prices and that you could remove certain games...didn't know that pushed the other games from 75% off to 50% off... That kinda sucks... But, then again, I guess the whole point behind bundle marketing like that is to get you to spend a little money on games you might not buy on their own. At least you can still get the games at a discount, so it's not a "buy everything or get no discount at all" proposition.

And, ya, I guess the math is sort of fuzzy on some of them...but it just seems like they have a policy of ending their prices in "9" and rounding up to do it... So some games are $6.29 instead of $6.25. Which, true, might add up to a few dollars if you're buying $100 worth of games, but it doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me...and most of the games I've gotten from the sale were actually 75% off ($5.99 games for $1.49 and $9.99 games for $2.49).

Hey,

I still buy things from GOG, have bought stuff even from this sale, I'd rather have things on Steam, as that is where I look first for games that I actually end up playing.  GOG is pretty much nostalgia purchases for me.  Now, I have a big enough backlog that unless GOG can coax me with decent prices on games I can't find on Steam, I don't buy.  I'm getting to the point where even if I can't buy them on Steam, it's most likely only a matter of time before it will be (Star Wars X-Wing, I'm looking at you).

I would never (ok, most likely never, unless the price was under a buck? or something) buy an indie game from GOG. Why? because it will be on Steam and it will be in a bundle.  nuff said there.

I think GOG's (remaining) market is basically people who must absolutely have DRM-free.  I think it used to also people who wanted Good Old Games, but GOGs exclusivity deals with publishers on certain games seems to be getting shorter and shorter.

Oh, I forgot about people who want to buy Indie Movies...erm....yeah.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents.  I actually like GOG, if I knew they were going to have certain games exclusively I would buy those games from GOG for a reasonable price.  I would like my wood paneled bookshelf back to remind me of last week when I lived in my parent's basement.

Why doesn't GoG have Fallout 1&2? Gamersgate (I think it was, one of the other services) has it DRM-free, so I wonder why GoG can't get it.

They did have it for quite a long time, but they were forced to remove it after the rights transferred over to Bethesda. Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics were all free on GOG shortly before they were removed.

I can't believe even those modern, big, mainstream Lego games are a buggy train wreck, I really wanted to get them.

Very nice sale for me otherwise, almost wiped out my entire wishlist.  I'm disappointed in the repeats but I can't expect too much more from GoG and it is nice for those that have missed deals (like I was in Paris for 3 weeks).

I can understand the hate about the wrong discount being advertised, but itsn't that pricing how bundles work on Steam too? My only recent experience was with Rocksmith during the Winter Sale, but buying tracks from a bundle separately led to a lower discount than when I bought the bundle outright. TBH, I think Gog handles bundles slightly better because I can get the better discount if I already own some of the games in the bundle, without having to rebuy the games, which I believe is how it works on Steam.

I think GOG handles bundles differently, not necessarily better than Steam. I do appreciate if I already own a game in a bundle, I don't have to purchase it again. But countering that positive is the negative of throwing an unrelated shitty game in the bundle.

Steam pricing on packages is also sometimes wonky, don't get me wrong. It doesn't bother me as much for some reason (I'll have to pay attention to their packages (that's what she said) more this sale) . Steam wanting me to rebuy the games in a package if I already own them sucks though, but GabeN's gotta Gabe.

Ugg now that GOG is repeating sales i'm getting more tempted by not as good percent off stuff such as Shogo and Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb.

Don't give in to the 33% off side!

Okay, so since the Ultima bundle is up...

What are the Ultima's worth owning/playing?

And are there any to avoid?

Side note -> I already own Ultima 4 + 7.

7 is my favorite but none of them have aged well. Probably the most accessible for a modern audience is 8 because it's kinda sorta like a retro pixel pre-Diablo, just much slower paced. It's an okay game but not a great Ultima game. It's sort of the Dragon Age 2 of its era. But the visuals are the last before the switched to 3D and those 90s 3D games like U9 just have not aged well either.

Honestly if you haven't even played 7 yet then don't bother.

I would like Ultima 7 as well but don't want the whole bundle :([/quote]
I h8 Neuro5i5. I had been blissfully ignorant of Soldak series, now I vaguely want them.

So say I want to try the really old Might and Magic games for kicks. Is it actually worth getting any of the crap post-6, or should I just wait for that 1-6 pack to hit $2.50 by itself in some stupid insomnia sale twenty years from now when I happen to actually be awake at the right time?

That'd be great, and that is the one, but I can't use PayPal at the moment. Would Amazon GC work for you? Otherwise, thanks for the offer.
I'd prefer PayPal but I'll end up spending money on Amazon for my kid at some point so that's fine. Friend me on steam or message me through here and I'll get you sorted out.

So there's a little drunk zombie Abe getting his old zombie pappy his mad dog 20/20 in the brown paper bag from the cooler next to dad's computer chair. Brings a tear to my eye, it does.

He isn't old enough to bring me my life blood yet. Soon Abe Jr will be doing my bidding like any child/slave should.

For crying out loud, can you please update this?  The sale going on right now on various games is pretty good.  I picked up BlazBlue:  Calamity Trigger for $2.49, Shadowrun Returns for $3 and Shadowrun:  Director's Cut at $4 to name a few.

Make a new thread. Nobody really gives a shit about gog as you can tell since the OP hasn't changed in ages. Be a go getter.

Sigh, another day of repeats, fuck this sale.

Anyone in here want a code for SimCity 2000? Just got one from GOG, but I already own the game.

Will give it to you if you have been a member of CAG for over one year and at least two positive feedbacks with 100% rating overall.
