Sacred is definitely worth $2 if you like Diablo clones.

Crusader Kings is a great Turn-based empire management game like Europa Universalis. Also worth it.

Broken Sword 3 is good adventure game. If you like adventure games.

The rest probably aren't worth it.

[quote name='informer']:applause: Haha the links are from slickdeals.net! Why don't you link CAG instead?

Oh ew. I feel dirty for clicking on a couple now.

From GoGamer's listing for Sacred:

"If the player fancies a different approach then the Seraphim, a follower of the mystical Angels, or perhaps the bloodthirsty Vampiress might clench their thirst."

Ahahahaha!! Clench your thirst!

Aren't Crusader Kings and EU both real-time? When I was researching Crusader Kings at OO and QtT most people were saying real-time. I ended up paying more for shipping than for the game. Nice find.

Ahh crap, I didn't know that..

Next time I'll make it up myself (hopefully for the benefit of CAG)

Looking at the reviews for Crusader Kings, it appears it is indeed real-time. I always thought the games were turn-based!

AH HA!

btw why cant a see the stuff after i click the link

see the site layout but not the product itself

[quote name='Mikey777']Just a warning to everyone: a lot of these games use starforce protection

I didn't know why that was important, but ...

[edit] Boing Boing

On 2006-01-30, Boing Boing, a popular weblog, alleged that StarForce was malware, citing several problems associated with the protection system, including disk drive performance degradation, weakening of operating system security and stability.[18]
A day later on 2006-01-31 Boing Boing received an email from StarForce, threatening legal action and stating that the article was "full of insults, lies, false accusations and rumors".[19] CNET ran a similar story and received similar email.[20] However, Protection Technologies has never proven these claims to be false (see Burden of proof).
During the controversy well-known Sysinternals programmer Mark Russinovich analysed StarForce and found "nothing overtly unstable" about it:[21]
“ I've taken a look at StarForce and other than some unorthodox ways of monitoring Cd-Rom traffic and intercepting the creation of all processes and threads, there's nothing overtly unstable about its implementation. What I did find is that the uninstall for Silent Hunter III does not uninstall StarForce, something that's absolutely inexcusable. That's Ubisoft's responsibility, however, not StarForce's.

They are pausable real-time games though, and all of the Paradox games play out much more like traditional turn-based games than real time strategy games.

I got CK for $2. It's the only one of the Paradox EU-engine games I haven't really tried yet.

FYI fatherofcaitlyn:

the problem most people seem to have with Starforce is that it replaces your IDE drivers with its own versions. If you're lucky, everything will continue to work fine. If you're unlucky though, and the new drivers interact badly with your system, then it's not just your game that's screwed, it's your whole system. Plus it seems most games don't remove the drivers when you uninstall them (possibly because they might still be needed by other installed Starforce games). There are horror stories like this one all over the net
http://virtual-hideout.net/articles/Copy_protection_pt2/index.shtml

Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

I read through the article. The guy was a little agitated.

Gogamer has been killing it lately with these PC deals. I'm seriously considering Micro Machines V4 since I don't own any of the PC iterations (and a friend and I could have some serious fun blowing each other up with this one), and Mage Knight Apocalypse (since the reviews seem to score it low for basically no reason...it doesn't sound bad at all to me!).

Finally took the plunge and ordered 2 copies of Micro Machines and 2 copies of Mage Knight, one each for myself and my friend. If I have time sometime soon to sink into them, I'll try to post some thoughts.
