OK, I must let this insane rage out of me. Why are devoted fanboys so stupid? Why? I have this friend. He loooooves the Xbox. With a passion. But he's an idiot. He does not listen to reason. Unless it means praise for the Xbox of course. We had a very lengthy game debate today. Strike 1: He says his friend opened up his Xbox and replaced the processor with a more up to date one. WHAT?! You can't do that! I tell him. Consoles can't be upgraded! Your stupid dude! he tells me. Microsoft just didn't say you could! You can if you want! What a RETARD!!! Strike 2: EGM is apparantly biased against Xbox. When I told him that Halo 2 had been delayed to the Fall, he got all defensive and said that EGM lied because they hate the Xbox. Uh, right, EGM just blatantly lies for the hell of it. Strike 3: According to him, the Xbox has sold more units than the PS2 and GC COMBINED. Right. I'm just gonna leave this one alone. Well, three strikes. He's out.

Now listen, I'm not pourin' haterade on the Xbox. I admit I do tell him that Xbox sucks, but just to piss him off. I like the big green box. But why is he so stupid?! WHY?! I dont' understand! What is wrong with his brain! And according to him, every Mario, Zelda, and Metroid game sucks. Every time I mention a Sony or Nintendo blockbuster, he just says Halo over and over again. What do I do to shut him up?!

That is pretty retarded. I got to be the first to admit I'm not an XBox fan, but I'm also not a Nintendo Fanboy (I definintely used to be, but I then tried other systems) or PS2 fanboy, it just seems to be that most XBox fanboys are just, well retarded.

No disrespect to all the XBox fanboys, it does not pertain to some of you...stress on the some, since it does pertain to others.

Only thing that interests me on the Box is Fable.

negative reinforcement works. every thime he says x-box, halo or anyhting else for that mater, zap im w/ 50,000 volts. hell, do it just for fun. it seems to me that x-box fans arer the most irratinal out there. maybe its some form of penis envy, making up for what they dont have. they say the x-box is the best, because they know its not and theyre insecure in that fact. most can only mention halo, because it is known to be a good game. but all fanboys suck. if they had the money, they would own all three. i do :D

Well, I don't want to hate on PS2 fanboys. But, I'm serious when I say this, through and through, when it comes to console debates, PS2 fanboys are always the most unreasonable. But, yes I agree that it is really stupid for him to say that EGM hate Xbox so they say that Halo 2 is pushed back again. Unless, EGM has a conspiracy against Xbox, hmmmm :whistle2:k .

I'm sorry, they aren't ALWAYS the most unreasonable, just most of the time, atleast in my debates. And I'm not saying they are unreasonable because they love the PS2, it's just the points they bring up that are so stupid and not true.

Agree to disagree and move on. Its not really worth fighting over, specially if you might end up hurting each other and not being friends anymore.

hes a fanboy, you cant do anything about it.. he'll probably realize that in years to come. if you call him a geek, he might stop or get mad. anyway,

strike1: true you cant replace the processor with a more up to date one, but you can replace it IF and only IF his dad designed the processor which is unlikely. but, you can easily mod it, which i think is what his friend did..

strike2: i used to think EGM was leaning more on nintendo back in the N64 days.. its just that there were more quality games for the big N that time and the PS1 was flooded with crappy games. now, its so hard to decide which game to buy since most are actually good in terms of quality! EGM is the most UNBIASED mag i have ever known.. to think i used to subscribe to both EGM and Gamepro.

strike3: obviously he hasnt been reading the business news recently. worldwide sales of the PS2 rank no.1 followed by Xbox.
Strike 3: According to him, the Xbox has sold more units than the PS2 and GC COMBINED.
I love my Xbox, I love my Cube, and when I get a PS2, I'll love it too. The winning system for me right now is the Cube b/c of its superior exclusive games. With that out of the way, you're absolutely right, your friend is really, really fucking stupid. I say throw him in a pit full of PS2 fanboys and let him have it. Either they'll kill eachother outright or argue until his head explodes.

The numbers I have seen are World Wide PS2 1st by far. Gamecube 2nd followed by Xbox.

In the US it is true that the Xbox is in second but the Xbox is doing so poorly in Japan that the Cube has outplaced it world wide.

Of course it's doing bad in Japan, it's the first time a major game system contender hasn't come from Japan. It actually makes me happy that WE finally get more cool stuff than they do, they usually have all these awesome Japan-exclusive things.

Yeah I agree, it's kinda nice to get stuff first. It's also nice to see an american console again (that's actually selling well), it looked for a while that the jaguar was going to be the last.

PS2 fanboys are by far the most unreasonable. I don't think anyone can claim there was a decent PS2 for the first six months of the console's exsistance and they fly off the handle and try to say things like The Bouncer was awesome.

They also get extremely pissy when you point out their versions are inferior to those on other consoles. Or when you insult their precious Final Fantasy series (In my opinion, extremely justified insults)

Yay, I thought ppl were gonna not know what I was talking about when I said PS2 fanboys are the most unreasonable.

..Well, Strike one shouldn't really be a Strike, considering u can upgrade the processor. A company is selling modded xbox with 1.4 celerons's in them now, with 128 megs of ram (64 more then normal). People are also putting Xenium processors in them. But judging from the other 2 things he said im sure he knew nothing about this and was just bs'ing. Anyways, here is the site if u wanna check it out. http://www.friendtech.com/

Right you are, ken:

I'm not trying to start a debate here but it seems that Halo is always the "Xbox Fanboy's" heavy hitter. But guess what. Halo is all they have. Their only argument. Nothing more. So when your friend says "Halo" in an arguement, point out that its a 2 year old game AND the only one he has to argue with.

Hate to break it to ya. Madden 2001. This was far more than just decent. Only people who don't like sports titles will disagree and their opinions are biased anyway. :D

Your friend's right about one thing:

http://xbox.upgrade123.com/contentid-3.html

It is possible to upgrade an Xbox CPU up to 1.4 Ghz.. but it only works for a handful of games, namely Halo =)

Anyways, there's nothing wrong with having pride in American engineering, but at least get your facts straight ... at least the Xbox is bigger, louder and faster, more than any American car can say.. but that's best left for another thread...

Whoops sorry afedock and banky, didn't realize you had posted. I was about to post about the DreamX 4 hours ago but my friends dragged me out to a bar and I just got back. I had the response already typed up so I just pressed submit... don't player hate

It reminds me of a few years ago, with the N64 and Goldeneye. I swear to god, that's all my friends talked about.

Gran Turismo 3 (and soon, 4). End of discussion.

P.S. And there are no online EA Sports games for Xbox, boo ya. And all of them on PS2 support voice chat.

P.S.S. And you really can't count out all the great games either, the ones that aren't heavy hitters. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Jak II, Champions of Norrath, among soooo many others. And Final Fantasy XI is gonna be INSANE. You can't name many great exclusive games for Xbox. I can only think of Morrowind and soon Fable.

Oh no, no EA game online, LOL, and you think I care they have voice chat? I don't know if you've been living in a cave, but ALL Xbox Live enabled games have voice chat. All of you are alike, you always so, "Well, yall don't have as good as games as us." It's so much bullshit. Xbox has some good games, maybe not as many good games as PS2. But, hey, atleast the system itself is better. I mean PS2 is so slow the framrate drops on Soul Calibur on special, shiny, fast attacks.

See. Take away halo and what do they have? Nothing. Slow down in games does not equal poor hardware but rather, inexperienced programmers. (For examples of great programming see GT3, Metal Gear Solid 2, and soon KillZone). [-X Yes, Xbox is more powerful, but bigger isn't necessarily better. It's all in the implementation, not the specs, and the sales charts clearly depict the winner in this case. Can't argue with the facts.

Think about it, what was the first nex-gen console to come out? PS2, and don't you think good third-party developers would want a slice of that when if first came out? Plus, the reason PS2 sells more is because ppl buy it as mostly a DVD player, not knowing it sucks as one and actually destroys the system. And, the other reason is because all the stupid casualy gamers that don't know shit buy it.

I think this is a prime example of what Mr. Anderson was talking about. Especially the degradation in point towards the end. What do you think Mr. Anderson?

Someone earlier mentioned that the xbox is a good thing due to the fact that we now "get games first." Getting games first has very little to do with where the console was designed and manufactured, and everything to do with where the DEVELOPER is located. Y'know, the people that make the GAMES, not the CONSOLE. Sure, having a console maker in the states almost guarantees a jump in the number of fully funded and distribution-supported US developers, but what it comes down to is the amount of competant developers in the west.

XboxMaster wrote: Of course it's doing bad in Japan, it's the first time a major game system contender hasn't come from Japan. It actually makes me happy that WE finally get more cool stuff than they do, they usually have all these awesome Japan-exclusive things.

We will never get cooler stuff than Japan, ever. Even Microsoft gives them all the cool stuff, like the limited edition consoles. We don't even get games before them unless it is an American company developing and publishing the game.

That is the worst argument ever. If WHEN a game is published matters to you, then you are a fanboy. If a game is good, it is good. Its actually impressive that it has been 2 years and Halo still remains fun and without a competitor on any system.

PS2 and Xbox have just about the same amount of good exclusive games. The main problem with PS2 is that it has no multiplayer games. Xbox at the very least has Halo, the Goldeneye of this generation.

There have been MULTIPLE major game systems that came from the United States. The fact that it was near 20 years ago doesn't mean they weren't major consoles.

Looks like I didn't word that sentence correctly. I wasn't trying to say that Halo's age was the main point of my argument, but rather its solidarity. (The age card was just to get under the Xbox fanboy's skin. :D) But seriously, Halo is the ONLY title Xbox fanboys have in their (troll) arsenal. I'm not saying that Xbox or Halo aren't good. Just pointing out the narrowmindedness of certain Xbox fanboys and their overuse of the Xbox/Halo comparisons.

Well I don't know about that. It's sort of like when the Genesis came out, almost all the good sports games were on that system. I'm really not into racing games (well ironically Gran Turismo 1 I was) but I never got into any of the newer ones. For me its all about the shooters. In my opinion the Xbox controller S is perfect for FPS , alright for fighting games, not so good for racing games. I can't really think of a good FPS on PS2 off the top of my head (oh I'm going to get flamed for that one), but there are alot of RPGs, racing games, crazy Japanese games for everyone. I don't have time or money to get all those other games, and I like shooters and actiony games.

So guess what, Halo is good enough for me. And so is Ninja Gaiden, whenever it comes out. I don't really care if something's an Xbox exclusive as long as its fun. I play Madden and ESPN NBA till the cows come home. I'm sure this has been said many times already, but its up to the person playing the system whether its good or not. Its a free country, everyone is in their own right. And when you say how fanboyism is stupid citing reasons why that system sucks... umm.. you are a fanboy yourself.

i agree, when someone states their opinoin, someone else is always trying to prove you wrong. Everything has its ups and downs, in this case it is video game systems, and both systems have certain strong points in different genres for their games and their systems. So know one is wrong in this. I just want some amazing RPG game to come for XBOX like a final fantasy, though i am still true to the FPS/S, action, and sport games for xbox and if good enough, PS2.

This thread has some fanbois in it :p, does anyone know the tru king of game systems as far as sales?

Ps2 defintely has the game varity advantage, nets my most playtime out of three systems from me.

xbox, modders dream, illegal and legal ones. In addition has the better version of a game in most cases. dvd playback can be unlocked without kit, but its 4 ports make up for the dvd playback kit imo.

GC, Strong First party, low price+ features through the GBA
------------------------------------------------------------
But fighting over a game system is like saying coke taste better than pepsi. In the end its whats better for you that matters. Your Friend is pretty clueless but so were you about the Xbox's upgradability.

They all have their strong points and weeknesses,

I think its interesting that EVERYONE'S missing the point on this one. Without Americans there would be no video games at all. That's right, an American invented the first video game...

The Japanese just reversed engineered it like they did with other electronics, cars, porn, the list goes on...

I think I've had enough of XboxMasters foundationless rantings. I really don't think people buy the PS2 because its a DVD player, you can get one now for like 30 bucks. Daphatty makes THE argument against the Xbox. No games. Halo is ALL you have (at least at this moment). Name ANY great, not system-blockbuster (i.e. Halo, Vice City, Metroid Prime), exclusive games for Xbox. ANY.

I'm all hyped for Ninja Gaiden. I don't own an Xbox, but I'm gonna borrow a friend's just to play that game. But I agree. Halo is pretty much the only game they have at the moment. Actually, I'm a bit jealous of them having 4 player DDR too. But otherwise, I deem Xbox the lowest of the three.

I like the Xbox, but i hate Xbox fanboys.
