Going to get a DS, what games (GBA or DS) should I get?

I'm looking to pick up a DS and two are three games. One of them is going to be Mario. What other one or two should I get. They can either be GBA or DS.

It would help if you offered some genre preferences. While the DS is just getting started there are potentially dozens of good GBA games you could enjoy.

The Golden Suns are easily the best turn based RPGs that are completely original to the GBA.

Don't have a DS so GBA suggestions:

Fire Emblem (playing right now, great!)
Namco Museum (if you're into old arcade games, Dig Dug/Galaga!)
SMA4/SMB3 (good but takes some time go get used to the small screen for me)
advanced wars
Golden sun 1 both should be cheap
both are gba

feel the magic maybe
damn good suggestions

The first golden sun is flat out amazing. Advance Wars is also pretty fun.

Fire Emblem for GBA or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA are both awesome.

Metal Slug Advance is a really cool new GBA game too and FF I and II Dawn of Souls.

Feel the Magic
Kingdom hearts: Chain of Memories (would really recommend this one)
Final Fantasy 1 and 2 Dawn of Souls
Advance Wars 1/2
Fire Emblem
Sword of Mana
etc.,etc.,etc.

Feel the Magic, Mario, Mr. Driller (only if you like puzzle games).

Those are the only DS games worth buying at this point.

GBA wise - Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars (preferably number 2), Mario World, Wario Ware, Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls.

All good games. If you're into action (and can take a little punishment), I'd highly recommend Mega Man Zero games also.

Yes Mr. Driller is definately for those who liked puzzle games like Chu Chu Rocket and Tetris.

I've been collecting the Mega Man Zero Series :D

Still working on the first one that I got at CC $5 sale.

I like Urban Asphalt GT for the DS . Thats only if your into racing, sometimes Mario is just to adventurous and I need a quick reflex game.

Get Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy I & II, Onimusha Tactics and Shinning Force for GBA and Final Fantasy III for DS.

As much as I don't agree with DenisDFat, that was totally uncalled for.

Some more suggestions, F-Zero and any of the ports of Mario from Mario advance one up to 4. Mario versus Donkey Kong is also a lot of fun.

I'd have to chime in against Golden Sun, its filled with every damn RPG cliche.
Super Puzzle fighter 2 is a great game to just leave in your system all the time, you can pick it up, play, and put it down anytime. Also supports a second player with the same system. player one uses control pad and L trigger to move pieces, player 2 uses B A and R triigger to move pieces.

a little off topic, but im going to have to protest against capamerica's sig in which the ds obliterates the psp into pieces. i myself am a ds owner and have been totally nerding out over it, im no rocket scientist but i can see the signs that ds is going to fizzle the second psp busts a nut in america. the ds has one of the most abysmal launch lineups, and the most promising titles (provided we are 100% sure they will be released) are all rehashes: xenosaga, baten kaitos, and final fantasy 6... psp on the other hand isnt even released worldwide and has several final fantasy titles announced, a metal gear solid game as a launch title, and many other high end titles tentative. if there is anything to glean from past system launches and failures, its that weak game lineups (1st party and 3rd) are absolute in deciding how a system will fare.
on topic, mario 64 and feel the magic are the highest rated ds games, and if youre looking for certain genres of gba games, just look the scores up at www.gamerankings.com

Astro Boy - Awesome Treasure Game. gba

Feel the Magic - It's $24.99 at best buy so with the GGC u can get it for $20. ds

Wario Ware - Best.Gba.Game.Ever.
