Good Anti Virus software for PC
You claimed that Norton uses "more system resources" and I said FF uses the most of mine, and Norton is no where close..

basically saying that Norton isn't a hog as many people will lead you to believe
Uh, I was comparing Norton's system resource use to other AV apps, specifically Avira, not to all other programs in general.
No, not quite. I was refuting someone's post that said Norton didn't detect all viruses. It has nothing to do with that.

I use Norton, because it works for me. I've been virus free for five years plus, it doesn't slow my system down, and it's stopped a couple viruses and hackers over it's years. The point it is, it works well for me, and that's what matters.

Some people's computers react better to programs then others. For instance, my computer doesn't like Macafee (however it's spelled). But I'm not going to sit here and continue to debate rather Norton is good or not, or free or not. I choose to pay for Norton, which I buy on ebay for like 10 bucks, but it doesn't matter.

Just use what program works best for you, and with that I'm done debating
Avira would work for you too, and better.

I wonder if you would pay for an ugly car with bad MPG, is someone was offering you a better-looking one with better MPG for free.

Someone in this thread or a recent similar one posted on how to get the pro version of AVG which includes firewall and other features. I've heard good things about AVG and am going to give them a go, I've been a McAfee user for a while but I'd been thinking about trying to switch over and that deal got me to give AVG a chance.
Kaspersky Internest Security
I second this! It seems to be the best out there. In fact, It may work a little too good....When I install regular software, the Kaspersky chimes in with warning messages..

I use Kaspersky, for 2 years not one problem
Also having Vista could've helped also

much better than Norton, Norton actually blocked my streaming to my 360
What do you guys use for firewalls with these free virus programs?
Hardware firewall. Software firewalls are just something else to run in the background and fk up. Yes, there's one included in Windows, but....
 i like how you think i have no idea what im talking about. Avira can be WAY too sensitive at times that conflict with a lot of apps and stuff (such as IDM). There have been a couple of cases were it just breaks after updating (just stops scaning and updating). While it does have rly good dectection rates, it have some flaws that sometimes let some keyloggers and backdoor trojans through. Sometimes it has a hard time decteting embedded viruses. I can go into more reason but that leads into the relm of warez.

 PhrostByte, why do you keep posting that picture? XD
Well to each their own I guess. I've never had a single issue with Avira. False positives yes, but only because I have heuristics set on the highest level. Never had an app conflict, has not once stopped scanning or updating, or let any loggers/trojans through. Kaspersky, NOD32, and AVG have all failed me in terms of protection.
