Hey folks..it's time to buy a new pair of glasses...

Looking for a store with a large selection with good prices and good protection plans.

Will be picking up a pair of prescription sunglasses as well.

Any good deals going on?

Have already done lenscrafters years ago... don't have a costco membership atm.

My last pair of specs came from, of all places, Sears Optical. They were running a 1/2 off deal at the time, and we discovered the discount comes off the top, before your insurance starts paying. I got my glasses and exam for something like 100 out of pocket.

According to the website, they're having a clearance- certain frames are $150 for complete glasses. With the right lenses and certain locations only, of course, but it could be worth checking into.

I don't reccomend Wal-mart... we used them for a few pairs when I was a kid. My doctor prescribed me no-line bifocals to help slow down the changes in my eyes. We found out after switching to a different place that Wal-mart had been switched me to single vision lenses and charged us for the bifocals anyway (being 11, I didn't realize. Mom was pissed.)
 
if you have a dr. visionworks, thats where i always get mine, $29 eye exam 2 complete sets $99 (frames must cost under 69.99, or you can pay the diffrence) and 1 of you pairs can be sun glasses for the same price i believe, been getting mine there for years. and i think its like $29 insurance or something like that.

It's online and extremely inexpensive. If you don't mind that there is no logo then it's worth the $8 (or higher for select models, most expensive is $15 i think...too lazy to check)

Myself as well as 4 people I know use them. It takes awhile to get your glasses, but it's worth it. Just make sure that when you get your eye exam, you ask the doc to give you your Pupillary Distance.
 
I've mostly stuck with Lenscrafters over the years due to the help there as well as some of the savings. They have a promo right now for a pair of glasses (both frames and lenses) for $100. Granted, there are only 12 styles available on that deal and they may not be your cup of tea, but it's another option.

Also, if you have a AAA Card I've almost always been able to stack that on deals at Lenscrafters. It may have been due to the people I've had (been going to the same place with the same help for ages) but it could knock down the price into a very affordable range if you see something you like from the deal.

Sunglasses though...those would be pricey there.

(Looks Above) Ah, CAG...always bringing the deals and knowledge! I'm just partial to Lenscrafters as well since the two pairs I got "recently" (read: nine years ago) stood up to abuse like tanks. But that's more perceived value than actual value. ;)
 
Costco. Seriously. We're pricing glasses now, and they are WAY cheaper than anybody, even if we use insurance (Costco's cheaper WITHOUT!) They don't gouge you on the extras either...anti-reflective coating is only like $20-30, not $100 like other places. Check 'em out (w/ membership, of course!)
 
seems the latest styles in my area are "thick frames" which kinda give me a edgy look...

Also any thoughts on the frames that DON'T frame at the bottom so the lens lower part of the lens is exposed?

I want some kind of warranty with my glasses like scratch protection and so on.

as for my eyes, well I have small eyes so I want something to compliment them with my glasses.
