Are you ordering a title that's out-of-stock or a pre-order? Won't work in either case at Buy.com.

They're going to send you to Google. If you're not using Buy.com's checkout, they can't help you.

fyi you can use the same credit card on different accounts (just sign up with a different email addy), and you can also sign up again using your existing GC account (worked for me)

I noticed at Buy.com the coupon doesn't work on preorders. They Diddy Kong Racing for $29.40 even with shipping it would be $23.40. Too bad.

No Google promotion has ever worked with pre-orders or out of stock items at Buy.com.

However, it DOES work with pre-orders at CD Universe (or did, anyway).

i also notice that they charged right away. all my gc orders are on my statement and i doubt any have shipped.

since the discount happens on the google page..has anyone tried ordering from gamefly and see if $10 code happens?

performance/graphics wise it isnt as good, but it does come with some new costumes and I think an extra gun.

fuck Google Checkout. They haven't responded to any of my requests for a change to the situation (two emails sent to them between Sunday and yesterday, one more just this morning) and I'm turning it over to my bank.

Holy shiatsu I am going to start ordering en masse tonight as well.

However, do they actually send some sort of activation email to your email addy? I.e. when you sign up for Google Checkout, can you just enter any made up email address and then BAM! right there you get the discount, or do they verify the email address?

I'm pretty damn lazy so I hate having to set up a bunch of new freemail addresses to take advantage of this.

So is this still supposed to work? I've never used google checkout before but I'm not getting any $10 off. I got to the link supplied in the opening post, go to buy.com, put something in my cart, click the google checkout button, and get the full price and a button that says place my order. Am I doing something wrong?

edit: Okay, apparently even though it said I was creating a new account, I actually wasn't. I had to go the create new account button before it was recognize I was new, even though I had never had a google checkout account before. I guess I just misunderstood what people described earlier. Oh well. Thanks for this.

I wouldn't worry about it. I placed a half-dozen orders at other retailers, was charged on the same credit card and they all shipped yesterday.

By the way this is in the GOOGLE CHECKOUT HELP section -- I think it speaks for itself for those worried about using (or over-using) this promo...
