Alright, well...I bought a GameCube last weekend. I got an absolutely awesome deal. I got a Platinum GameCube, new, with Mario Kart: Double Dash, and I got Twin Snakes thrown in there (also new) for free! Plus the GameCubes now come bundled with the "You've got Cash" thing, so I got Mario Sunshine for $5.

A new GameCube with one controller, plus Mario Kart, plus Twin Snakes, plus Mario Sunshine for about $110? ^_^

I bought Animal Crossing since it came with a memory card. I've yet to play that, though, since it takes so much memory card space. I'm thinking of getting...:
Harvest Moon
Metroid Prime (1)
Wind Waker

What other games would you recommend? I don't really want Smash Brothers. I don't play much multiplayer....er, yes, I do, but only online. Is StarFox any good? That looks like it might be fun, and it's cheap.

Please, if you could, list some Cheap Ass games for GameCube (like under $20) that I would probably like. I realize that like Metroid Prime 2 and Paper Mario and new games like that probably kick ass, but I'd rather buy cheap gems and save money. That's what being a CAG is all about! :p

Thanks for the advice. ^_^

Oh, and by the way, I like mostly all games. RPGs, action, shooting, sports...you name it, I'll probably play it. And I only want GameCube-exclusive games. Cross-platform games I always get for XBox..

And, uh, should I get the really big memory card or the $20 one? I might get like a dozen games, and I don't know if I need that enormous one..

Resident Evil REmake and 0, Ikaruga, and RE4 when that comes out. I basically got my Gamecube for Resident Evil so I dont know how much I helped.
Also to me WindWaker was a no no.
You will get to a part where you have to collect triforce pieces and thats where I quit, it felt more like work than a game, and you have to get a bunch of maps translated and pay a ton of rupees to do so just to find out where the triforce pieces are. I like most of the zeldas, but I despised this one.

+Eternal Darkness -Love or Hate tragedy

+F-Zero GX if you are really good at racing games

+Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes

+Metroid Prime

+Wind Waker

I wouldn't get Starfox Adventures if I were you. It's very short and very easy. But it was fun, I'll give it that.

Good Cube games (that are all probably around or below $20 by now) you might be interested in:

Eternal Darkness
F-Zero GX
Resident Evil
Resident Evil Zero
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Sonic Mega Collection (old-school gaming)
Super Monkey Ball
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Wave Race: Blue Storm

The GameCube, despite what people say about it, has a lot of good/great games for it. I recommend checking out this list of games for a list of some of them.

that ign list is very good. just sort by 9.0 or higher, and pick a genre you like.

edit: or 8.0 or higher, etc.

oh btw, that was a sweet deal you picked up.

Without reading anyone's post or the OP's post and going by the title alone, there are several games that are MUST HAVES if you own a Gamecube.

Animal Crossing
Eternal Darkness
F-Zero
Mario Party (whatever the latest version is)
Metroid Prime
Pikmin
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 4 (when it comes out)
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball
Super Monkey Ball 2
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
Viewtiful Joe
Zelda: Wind Waker

And a fully paid preorder of the new Zelda game.

These are MUSTS.

Memory Card 251 (Black one) should do. Use the Animal Crossing card for itself since you get the gift pack (in-game)

Get the 1019 card. As you're a cheapass you'll be getting more games at a faster rate. You will fill up a 251 card fast enough. If you play any sports games you DEFINITELY need it. Most 3rd party games have terrible memory card optimization for the GC versions.

SoL is a great game... a really great game. I highly recommend you play it before you play Tales of Symphonia, which is also a great game that you should play. Problem is SoL's graphics and gameplay feel a bit dated now, and will feel even more dated if you go straight to ToS. But that said if you like the FF games at all it's worth playing and probably more than a little inspirational to Wind Waker.

Good recommendations so far. No one has mentioned Beyond Good and Evil, a quite short but spectacular Zelda-esque game.

I never played Monkey Ball 1, but part 2 is excellent. I hear you might as well skip part 1 anyway since all of the multiplayer minigames are included. If you're only in it for the single player, it's very very challenging, much like F-Zero GX is. But I say that in a good way.

I haven't seen either PSO mentioned yet, which I consider must-haves. PSO ep. 3 is one of the best games of the year, any system.

I'm also a big fan of Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg. A very good platformer that gets overlooked often.

Yea, I'm a Sonic Team whore. ;)

hey everyone
i just got metal arms:glitch in the system for $10 from bestbuy...has anyone played this game before? it seems pretty fun so far, 3rd person shooter..i was gonna get the ps2 version, but its only 2 players, opted for the GC version since its 4 players and the xbox verson is more expensive for 20..i still need to get a memory card..are there any cheap, for around 10?

If you like Wind waker, I'd say you wont have much problem with Starfox. Other games I'd suggest from my collection based on what youve said:

F-Zero GX
Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2
Metroid 1 & 2
Resident Evil 0 & Remake
Pikmin
Super Monkey Ball
Paper Mario

I'm also one of those guys that bought a GC for RE. Basically get Eternal Darkness and the Remake (Should run you about 20 bucks if you buy used) and then play them both. Everything else on the cube I really dislike--- Tales was a great game, but it was way too short for me, so I ended up selling it back.

Re4 on the 11th(10th if you pre-ordered from Gamestop)-- Basically should occupy you for quite some time.

Definately Viewtiful Joe. The second one is really good, too, but you've gotta play the first to fully understand it and play it well. It's one of the most perfect and hard as hell games you'll ever play.

F-Zero GX
Metroid Prime
You just have to pick up Smash Bros. I can't tell you how much you iwll probably enjoy that game.
Ikaruga
Warioware
etc.,etc.,etc. I really tried just to limit it to games that you can probably find 19.99 and cheaper.

You should definitely pick up the 1019 "big" memory card. You will see that you will fill the 59 and 251 memory cards very very fast.

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 0
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Baten Kaitos
Pikmin 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
