heroes of might and magic 2 for gameboy color

just another gameboy game that came dead in the last month sad : (

nice thing is they will send me a prepaid mailer to send it back to get another one (AHHHH Ebgames is holding out on us. they got games they dont even put on their webpage : )
 
I was actually surprised at the piss poor condition of some of the old GB and GBC cartridges I got during their discounted old cartridge sale last year. I eventually got all of them to work, but I certainly wouldn't have kept them if they weren't dirt cheap.
 
well.. cartridge games are so hit and miss anyways.. and who really takes care of those GBC carts besides like real hardcore kind of gamers.
 
Less than 5% of the stuff I've bought from ebgames.com has been non-working. I always just return it in store.
 
I've had 3 defective GBC games, and one PS2 game in the past month and a half. The PS2 game I was able to return to B&M, but I had to send back all three GBC games and wait for replacements. One wouldn't load, another would freeze and the main screen, and another would freeze up when you tried to save. All the replacements they sent me work fine however. It's juat a pain to wait even longer for a game you want to play.

I just got a defective Kung Fu Heroes (NES). I called and they said they'd send me a pre-paid mailer so I could send it back and get a replacement. I haven't gotten the mailer yet though :(
 
i ordered kung fu heros and i got a good copy, and i think its an awesome game, but for 1.75 you have to be able to accept a couple bad ones.
 
Update: got my pre-paid envelope today, so I'll be sending Kung Fu Heroes back tomorrow and hopefully getting a new one next week.
 
Did you even try to clean the cartridge contact? 90% of the time thats the problem. These are 10 year old games, that may have not been played in, well, 10 years.
 
I didn't use rubbing alcohol or anything, but I blew on it a lot :) Seriously, the cartridge was in bad shape; it looked like it had been used to play field hockey with or something. Doesn't eb test these before they sell them?
 
You should clean any carts you get used (especially something that looks like it's in terrible shape) before plopping it into your system as your system will eventually get gooped up with grime and crap from the dirty games if you don't.

If a game looks like it's in great shape with nice clean contacts I sometimes skip cleaning it, but even then you usually get a pretty dirty Q-tip if you bother to do it.

That's what I use. (There have been threads devoted just to that topic - what to use - and the consensus is generally isop rubbing alcohol.)

I get the strongest stuff they have at Target. 90%+ I think.

Just plain old water will work most of the time. The trick is to scrub the contacts. As long as you don't use an abrasive cleaning tool, you won't damage the cart. And always let the cart dry before you try playing.
