So far, I like it... nowhere near II, but easily better than the slug's pace that was part III... the character models are way better than the Lego Men of III, but my heart will always pine for a 2D Suikoden game... on the other topic, the reason 1 and 2 will be more regarded as the better two of the series is because they have a connection. Characters from 1 returned older and wiser in part 2. You had intergral characters to return in lead roles (Flik and Viktor), cameos (Gremio), supporting role (Clive owns all), and not so secret roles (McDohl). The sequels lost that charm with nary a real carryover from the previous 2 (except in 4, where if you read the guide you know who it is, there actually IS a character from one of the first two games)...
