I finally got around to returning a 360 HD-DVD add-on yesterday. I bought it last April for $127, when the retail was still $200 I think. I never got around to selling or trading it. I actually let a friend borrow it and he watched King Kong with it. He wrapped everything back up and wasn't impressed. When I heard about the new $50 retail price, I was considering buying it again to get the 5 free HD-DVDs, but I missed the deadline for the rebate out of laziness. I went to return it yesterday, still had the receipt, along with a set of $40 knives that I thought were a good buy, which I lost the receipt for. There was a little hesitation on the guy's part to return it, but after he spoke to a manager, I had no problems. I considered rebuying it, b/c the price came up $31. I might go back and pick it up, but I'm not sure yet. Don't even know if it's there. Got my $180 back. I use to work at a returns desk at a different Sam's over the summers when I was in college. I've gotten a lot of deals from them. Just posting cuz I'm bored.

You might wanna put up your flame shield, as I'm sure there will be people in here saying 'zomg you committed return fraud by returning a USED item' very shortly.

I did this with a crappy Emachines PC I got from Best Buy, when faced with the loss of 15% of the value of the item through restocking fees. I found a better deal and had already set up and tried out the computer. Thank God for clear packing tape and my ability to remove old tape with surgical precision and apply new tape.

Seriously, not cool man.[/quote]

actually sam's club has the best return policy in the world, no time limit on returns (opened or not), with the exception of computers which i believe is 6 months, i personally havent returned anything from there, but i have had a few friends buy tv's from there, and a yr or more later returning it and getting full value, to get the next better thing for approx the same cost.

Sams club deserves it, they sold you items that everyone in the industry knew was going to be obsolete, they should suffer at the losses occured now. Believe me, i guarantee you are not the only person returning HD DVD merchandise to Sams Club. I went to Costco a few days after the warner news and the return area was littered with hd dvd players. Tough noogies.

Uh...yeah...wait...what?

i'm not going to flame you.. how else were you going to get your 180 bucks back if you didn't return it?..

the only thing though that sams club is good for is the great food deals.. i load up on granola bars/dry food products everytime i'm there.

Sams here pretty much sucks but I guess it doesn't suck that badly cause of the return policy, most things are only a few cents off what you would pay in another retail store (at least here), but if you were buying a big ticket item like a TV and were able to return it because it broke or you didn't like it it would be well worth the 40$ membership fee to not have to deal with CSR issues at other stores.

The Walton Family are worth 20 billion each. They donate on average a combined $1,700.00 to charity each year. All while the average Walmart/Sams employee makes $7 an hour.

fuck them and good for you.

its not return fraud if they know whats going on. i hate douche bags that commit return fraud too. but return fraud requires deception and he didn't commit any type of deception.

Yeah Sam's Club accepts returns on open items, it would only be fraud trying to return it as a new item to a store that doesn't give refunds for opened items

Somewhat related but is it me or have the game deals at Sam's Club and Costco gotten worse and worse? I saw some 360 games for $19.99 or basically retail price, no discount at all.

like i said earlier, i know that sam's has an unlimited return time on opened items....

but does that also include video games, cause if so it would be an unbelievable deal for $50-60 to return a game after your finished with it and move on to the next one on your list of must haves.

I had no idea of their return policy, and I shop there all the time. I'll have to remember this in the future...

he didnt return a game
he returned the HD-DVD add-on.

I see no reason to go to Sam's Club- Costco's ten times better and they've got really good people running the company. They pay excellent money, too, and the employees are nice and not dumbasses.

Not to mention that a Costco is right down the street from me- I can walk there. :D

Do you know anything about these charities? I know for a fact that people who "donate" their fortunes (Rockefellar comes to mind) often "donated" to "charity" fronts where the business of the non-profit was more to do with politics or ideaology than helping people. Sean Hannity "donates" to the heritage foundation a large lump of money every year, for example, but that "donation" is really just supporting a bunch of neo-conservative idealogues who claim to be preserving American history even as they endorse violations of civil liberties and call the ACLU Islamo-fascists!
