Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City-Multiplayer thread-Tues-Weds 10pm
It could. I didn't check what size the install was that it did on my HDD. Though now I am a bit intrigued to see if it did install a smaller file.

The only thing that bugs me about using the disc version over the digital download one is that with the dd version you get to have the music and other content from GTAIV as opposed to just the content from the episodes if using the episode disc version.

Then again, I'm enjoying the music in the episodes more than I think I enjoyed most of the music from the main game.
same here would have been nice to have the GTAIV music on disc as well i can't complain though i'm loving all the new tracks the GTAIV music was so-so

I only really listen to Liberty Rock Radio most times, though I really wish Rockstar had put in the ability to use your own music off of the HDD like I used to do on the original XBox. That would've been interesting to have in multiplayer, where you're cruising down the road listening to whatever you loaded up and even more interesting if you could've used ZIT(the 'music service' from the game) and had a friend download the same tracks.

Still waiting on that new ps3 model since i have my system on 8 hours a day.
I was just wondering if you can fire your weapons while navigating the city by parachute. I was also wondering about some of those new vehicles and what game had bike cops. So far the lost multiplayer looks better but does that game have nitrous for the races. Can you use nitrous in freemode or deathmatch?

yeah i thought they would include in-game music as well  i usually listen to liberty rock and LCHC for L&D and K100 and Vice City FM for TBoGT as for the ZIT thing never gonna happen there cracking down on any means to pirate music now a days

i can answer the parachute question no you can not shoot weapons while using it

I think Best Buy has it for $30 this week, but I swear I read about people trying to get it for $20 already.

Thing is, you might wanna consider the DLC version though, Kube. The downloadable version requires GTA IV to play though, but you get all of the music/content from GTA IV in the episodes.

You know, when I first heard these addons were xbox only I was pissed. Then I heard they were 20 bucks a piece. Then I'm like damn, that sucks. But now, I'm working my way through lost and damned, and damnit these are some quality addons. Totally worth the money. Love the music too.

I don't know if it's just me or not, but has anyone who has the episodes on disc experienced any slowdown or parts of the game world not loading in right as of yet? I was driving around Alderney last night doing the Drug Wars in the game and I was racing to get to the drop off point when I noticed the game was seriously slowing down and part of the expressway bridge overhead wasn't loaded in.

It popped in(a common occurence for GTA games usually)a couple of seconds later, but it was still unusual that it was slowing down that bad.

Anyone with the downloadable versions have any noticeable slowdown as of yet either? Just wondering on this...

Yeah. I was going pretty quick with a sports car or other faster vehicle when the slowdown and major pop in happened, so maybe I wasn't giving the game enough time to load it in.

You getting red dead redemption? I have 42.xx in walmart credit to use up so that's going towards red dead :D Used another GC with 42.xx for EfLC last night lol.

Yeah. I've had RDR pre-ordered from Gamestop with the rest of my credit I had there for over a month now. Normally, I don't pre-order any game, but I wanted RDR for a while.

Now if I Am Alive ever gets out of the development hell it's in and gets a concrete release date(been pushed back to 2011 sometime as of now), I'll probably grab that.

As of now though, my next pending game is Transformers: War For Cybertron, assuming we get some actual in game action footage prior to the game's release in June.

The only other game I'm anticipating this year is Socom 4. If Zipper doesn't give us a great socom game, unlike /6 I'm officially writing off the series for good. So I hope it's going to be good.

Thing is, I might also buy another copy of Demon's Souls, since the UK is getting a deluxe edition and right now it's less than $60 US to reserve a copy of it and have it shipped to the US.

Considering it comes with a hardcover guide, hardcover artbook and a soundtrack cd besides the game itself, I'm really considering it.

Then there's also a listing for that I Am Alive game listed on one of the same importing websites showing a May release date, so I have a feeling that a version of that game may get a stealth release.

I certainly hope if it ends up releasing that it's not a glitchy mess though.

Anyway, if you or anyone else wants to play some GTA Episodes one of these nights, let me know as the Thursday 10pm isn't written in stone.

I'll probably finish up lost and damned, atleast the story. Then go onto gay tony. Not sure when that'll be, but I hope some people in here show up so we can have a decent online match going. Just some crazy freeroam madness would be sweet.

I've already tried some of the modes in BOGT and the deathmatch/tdm is only good if you're used to the weapons in the game by then. I've been using the sticky bombs to blow up cars pursuing me while doing the Drug Wars side mission in BOGT, though I'm running out of those and they cost a good buck each to rebuy them, which is why I'm going to study that one map that shows hidden weapon pickup locations.

Maybe if I can find a source of free weapons, the main game will be more fun.

As for free roaming, it's great in BOGT, since you have an attack chopper with rockets and chainguns and the NOOSE APC readily available.

But it seems like the multiplayer for this game may be DOA unless you have non CAG friends like me to invite into the games, since there doesn't seem to be too many CAG's who are playing this right now.

I only used to hop on GTAIV freeroam with friends anyway. I used to never play with random people. I can have just as much fun playing around in LC by myself hehe.

I used to do the free roam back in GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas(some insane chain reaction crashes used to happen in those backwoods areas in SA).

But it seems every time I make a random free mode I get people practicing for DM/TDM in there, so I make sure I have an attack chopper and I mow them down with rockets/chainguns.

i've had a couple of times where the framerate slowed down badly for a couple of seconds then it fixed and weird pop-in stuff as well that i don't experience on GTAIV (60GB btw)

I'm going to be blowing up this game in a couple weeks online. Too bad my ps3 broke and i didn't get to play this on 4-20 when i had 4 kinds of purple weed. Hopefully i will be able to get in the groove with just silver haze. I can't wait to try out those new bikes and have choppers chasing me again as i do 360's accross town and bust endos on dead players faces.

I'll add you Dtrain. Looks like i should be getting the game today and the system today or tomarrow. I will be playing this one online alot along with red dead redemption, uncharted 2, wipeout hd, and a litttle killzone 2. I like to think I'm good but killzone is still confusing.

You ever play MAG, Mr. 420? I got it from a HWV going out of business by me and I can't stand it. But it's a perpetual online only shooter and probably would be tons of fun if I didn't suck at most shooters. LOL

But I couldn't say no at nearly $30 off it's current price.

I thought MAG was worse than MW2 and socom which were my 2 east favorite ps3 games out of the 35 games i own. I just got gta and got faked out on a big box delivered that was full of cushion holders for my sister.:bomb:(whatever they are)
Amazon said my ps3 was processed like 6 hours ago but they didn't say what city, so it should be here tomarrow or wensday at the latest. I got a hard drive enclosure for the 640 gig hd I had in my ps3 so hopefully i can transfer my info to my new ps3 and not have it say it can't read the external drive. If the ps3 pulls something like that then I have a external hd that is fat35(32 whatever) compatible that i will use after i transfer it's data to another drive. If I lose my valkyria chronicles data i am going to flip.

It's a hell of a game, kube. There's all sorts of crossover appearances of characters from each episode and from characters from GTA IV as well. But the multiplayer is definitely lacking(at least on the Ballad Of Gay Tony side).

I don't know about gay tony's multiplayer. The controls for aiming seem to be slower, there are hardly any modes, and there seems to be more slowdown. Those new vehicles are just annoying because they shoot out explosive rounds that don't really kill you but just stun you for like 10 seconds before they actually kill you which is really annoying. The single player looks great though, Luis seems like he is going to be really funny.
TLAD multiplayer seems to be much better. Better controls, awesome modes, but it seems to be dead. I didn't see one person in any of the lobbies so i had to play instant game. The single player in TLAD looks just awesome when you and your gang are riding in formation. I like the fact that i can kill some of those chumps in my gang and get new guys. The first thing i did was ghost ride the president of the club into a gas tank.
Overall i'm pissed that most people seem to still be playing the OG and that rockstar murfed this by not making it real dlc and actually a different game which now has 3 different deathmatches for 3 different game all with the same city. I hope the multiplayer picks up otherwise i'll just mostly be playing single player.

LOL I knew I should've offed the club president by crashing him into something as soon as I saw that each of them had health bars, but I decided to play the game normally and now the last mission is an insane firefight from what I've seen in the 360 version guide I got for a penny from Best Buy.

Shit. Ahh well. But what irks the shit outta me in this game is that the difficulty seems to ramp up insanely at times while in other missions it's a damned cake walk. Some of these firefights have been hellish.

It doesn't matter if you have a mic or not, since I rarely use mine anymore. I got so annoyed with the 'gangstas', people blaring their own music into my eardrums and people just screaming into their headsets that I threw mine off a couple of nights.

Most times if there's something I want ya to pay attention to I'll send a quick PM or open up a text chat and invite everyone into it.

Then again, sending PM's and text chatting is so much easier when using a USB keyboard plugged into the PS3 as opposed to typing via the controller mid game.

I'm mainly planning on going back through BOGT and L&D to do the side missions to get the bonuses for completing each 100%, which can add up to some really sweet weapons in single player in BOGT that're available right at your safehouse.

Lucky for me I have the 360 version of the guide, so I can just flip through to see what side missions and hidden weapon stashes are worth it and where they're located.

So does anyone want to pick a day so multiple people can show up and i can actually try these TLAD multiplayer modes? Right now I can play anytime so i hope to see some people in Liberty soon. I haven't been able to try out any of the new modes but i hope bike races have bats because i was having a lot of fun in those single player races last night knocking people off their bikes.
I'm guessing they've removed Vigilante missions from the DLC (at least TLAD)....
Yeah. I'm guessing that's why I wasn't able to view the current crimes via the police computer in either episode.

But what annoyed me was that you were at least able to search some of the main characters in GTA IV and see if they came up in the database in the police computer. That even came up to an error in the episodes.

I can't believe I already beat TLAD, I was trying to determine if i was half way through or I just beat the game and then the credits rolled. Top that with the fact that my ps3 fat died with gta4 stuck in it an hour after the filtering patch that i had been waiting for over a year came out, my brand new ps3 slim goes into rocketmode with Liberty stories in it, and the fact that they nerfed the multiplayer and I'm pissed. Gay tony or red dead better be really good otherwise I'm only paying half price or lower for Rockstar games anymore.
So yeah if anyone wants to set up a day for some events we should do it before red dead comes out cause i don't know how much I'm going to come back to this game. It took me over a year to beat Niko's story and I played around 2000 games online in the og gta 4 but I don't see this game lasting half that long unless we get some dedicated nights cause the lobbies are dead. I guess everyone is still playing gta 4 cause the animations for your guy got nerfed in the episodes.
Playing gay tony freemode is really annoying cause of that new chopper with rockets and machine guns. If someone is good they can fly around at about 800 miles per hour and kill everyone with unlimited ammo. Now that might be ok but with the lag in this game it is almost impossible to bring a good pilot down from the ground unless he actually stays in one place. Only problem is that heli goes about 1000 mph with lag.

You mean like that one tool from that last game we played in at the airport? I still suck with the choppers in this game(as compared to GTA Vice City where I could turn on a dime and take out criminals in Vigilante mode with just the chain guns), but that's my main reason for only playing free mode is that I'm practicing.

That's why I usually make a private free mode.

I'm definitely up for some Chopper Vs. Chopper tonight or sometime soon, but like you said the multiplayer for this doesn't seem to be taking off as not that many are playing the mp.

This is a reposting from the PS3 FAQ thread (not sure where I'm more likely to find some advice):

I need some help with this- I have the original GTA IV disc, and I downloaded both Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony a while ago from the PSN store, didn't get to try them until now. They both had icons on the game menu, I pressed on their icons and they both installed one after the other (took a few minutes), and then the icons disappeared. The problem is I can't find how to play either add-on game! There are no icons for them that I can see anywhere, they're not accessible from GTA IV main game when I choose "Load Game", it doesn't come as an option when I start "New Game" (it just automatically loads the first mission of the original game called The Cousins Bellic). So how in the hell am I supposed to access the add-on missions? I haven't completed the main game yet, could that be it, that they only allow you to access after you complete all the Nico stuff?

Please help! I have everything including the original game disc on my PS3. They're all US items, so I know it's not a compatibility problem. And my PS3 is working fine otherwise. I paid $40 for these add-ons and I can't even play them. So damn frustrated right now.

Thanks for any input, I appreciate it.
