Graphics Card Conundrum

CAGiversary!
Hello all!

Currently, I have a single EVGA GTX 470 in my PC that I built a few months ago. My father said that if I wanted to in the future, I could buy another graphics card so I could SLI my two 470's together.

After acquiring a few new games, I wanted to purchase another GTX 470, but saw that EVGA does not sell this particular card anymore (or they do but for a ridiculous price)!

According to what I have heard, it is impossible to SLI video cards in a different series together (400s with 500s) but would I be able to SLI an EVGA card with a PNY or Zotac card?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, you can do that as long as they're the same model. If two cards are clocked differently, it will pick the lower clock to run them both I think.

different manufacturers doesnt matter, you only have to match the card, which in your case is another gtx 470.

the different series thing only applied to rebadged cards (the 8800 gts, 9800 gtx+ and gts 250 were the same chip) A gtx 470 and a gtx 570 would not be compatible for SLI, you could only use the 2nd card for PhysX
