Anyone who was thinking of picking it up from Best Buy 50% sale hold off, found a better deal

I have the feeling this can't be an isolated deal, I'm going to scout amazon's site a bit and report back my findings.

edit: WAURRR WAURRRR, Dark Angel S1 is $14.99, looks like the usual suspects may have returned...with a few new BEAUTIFUL faces among the bunch.

Thank you, but no. I already received STL for everything I am going to buy, I just can't buy them yet. Hopefully they will still be available after my paycheck gets deposited.

Ya, I was probably one of the first people to get in on the X-files deal and mine didn't ship till yesterday.
 
yeah..i got the cheapo shipping and that was the first time I got an e-mail from amazon saying my order wasn't going to be shipping anytime soon...i laughed out loud when I opened the e-mail

I doubt it, I'm pretty sure the whole goal of fox discounting the first season is to get you hooked so you pay full price for the rest of the sets.

Wow I didn't know Fox were discounting the first season of the X-Files. Until I get a better paying job Im not buying any of the other seasons at full price though.
I got my first season DVDs in the mail today. I watched the first two episodes and Ive decided to watch them all in order.

Yeah, i just got finished watching 24 season 1 that i picked up on Black Friday, and wow what a difference watching them all in order makes. I am now 10 times more likely to buy the rest of the series on DVD... just what Fox wanted when it decided to discount the first seasons.

This is the first time I have seen X-Files severely discounted, and, yes, their goal is to hook us, but every once in a while good deals will come along that span seasons. At the end of 2003, Costco had a big sale on fox dvds -- all the cartoons (simpsons, family guy, futurama) were $15, I believe, for each set that was available at the time, and shows like 24 (and buffy, I believe) were $25 per set (not as good as $15, sure, but almost a full year earlier, and available on all seasons that were released at the time). That sale was why I joined Costco in the first place, and they have enough other dvd sales to make the membership well worth it. Ok, that was a bit of a sidetrack, but the point is that season-spanning sales are not unheard of.

Also, often when a new season of a show comes out on DVD, stores like Best Buy will give a huge discount if one is buying multiple seasons. If one has the cash, it is often a good deal to buy the entire series at that point (even if one already has some of the sets), and then eBay the ones that are duplicate. Sometimes one can even get the seasons one was missing, and end up with a net cash profit as well. I realize many of you already know this stuff, but some might not have realized it.
