Great trade in prices on Crappy games?!?!?

Have any of you guys experienced this?? Just a few examples -- when I was living in Michigan and near an FYE (cd, dvd, video games store) I did this deal quite a few times.

Blockbuster was having a 3 dollar off sale all their used video games. They had NCAA 2K3 for sale for 6.99 -- which after the deal was 3.99. I'd take those babies to FYE and they would give me 24 bucks credit a pop!!! So I went to all the local blockbusters and rounded up about 12 of these guys and took them into different FYE stores around and racked up 300 bucks worth of store credit -- which I then used to buy Gameboy Advance SP's right before after they came out. It was great!!

I have also had some luck with some other cheapy games that trade in good at certain places... Like Legends of Wrestling II WAS trading at gamecrazy for 21 bucks or something... Monster Jam was trading for 19 or something... and I picked up lots of copies of those for like 9 bucks or something. (These were all for the gamecube BTW)

Anyway, just wondering of other people have had any similar experiences Maybe we could post when certain places are giving great credit for crappy games!!! Just a thought. Thanks.
 
I didn't know FYE took trades...this could be very useful. I never really go there to buy anything as they have some jacked up prices.... at least at the one in my area.

Why is he going to get flamed?
 
If everyone has to flame me... then so be it I guess. There were about 40+ copies between the three different blockbusters I went to... and for months after they were all just sitting there. I picked 12 that were in near mint condition... and that was enough for me. I wanted 3 gameboy advances so my sis, me and bro-in-law could play together or seperately. Shoot me... =)
 
Maybe I'm wrong because I haven't been in one in years, but isn't FYE like Wal-Mart or Target? To return something, typically you have to give them the impression that you bought it there. They don't really "buy" used items like EB or Gamestop does.
 
FYE will buy your used video games, cds and dvds and sell them back at inflated prices... which as has been pointed out is the reason lots of people don't shop there...

However if you buy certain price controlled items with the store credit -- it CAN be a bargain sometimes.

The only one near me is about 25 miles in the opposite direction from anything, otherwise I'd try this too. I think the one time I went in one, though, their prices struck like Suncoast's, ie, ridiculously high. But if you make 10 bucks or so on a trade in, that could negate that.
 
FYE is like a Sam Goody, except they also sell video games. They have cds, dvds, novelty t-shirts, music accessories (like discmans, headphones), and then video games and vg accessories. Of course, the whole buying back of used games may only be YMMV. I know the one in Danvers, MA has used games on the shelf, so they must buy them. That particular FYE also has a FYE arcade connected to it, which has some decent games. I go there just to play DDR. :)
 
Probably already obvious but I would not advise anyone now to go and buy copies of NCAA 2k3 to trade in at FYE. I'm sure the trade in was done a long time ago (a year ago, as the SPs had not even come out yet) and FYE was just getting into the used game business. I'm pretty sure they've refined their prices now and definitely will not be offering $2x.00 for NCAA 2k3.

Blockbusters let you look at their discs? The ones around me are always kept behind the counter or had locks on the cases.
