Green Man Gaming (Steam) Deals: 25% Off Hitman

GMG has some semi-interesting non-Steam stuff on sale. Bunch of Layernet simulators like

City Bus Simulator, which looks more like Grand Theft Bus if it were made on the Nintendo 64. - $1.40ish after 20% code.

Also Borderzone which is an old RPG that's got a couple of decent ratings there. $2.00 with the 20% discount + sale.

Then there is:
A-Race Extreme Show. $3 after 20% off coupon. Supposedly, this is the lowest price it has been.

This one sounds up Idiotekque's alley

TL;DR - Hot Russian chicks in race cars.
Description
A-Race Extreme Show is a game that successfully blends the genres of thrilling adrenalin-pumping racing and an economic management sim. The aim of a player is to not only become the fastest driver around, but to be a talented manager as well. In the beginning of the game the player has to pick out one of the twelve beautiful young ladies. One of them even exists in reality - she is the winner of Miss Russia contest in 2003. Once you choose a character the task is to make your protégé as successful and famous as possible.

The world of A-Race Extreme Show is a world of a TV reality show where girls from different countries (USA, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden and even the Congo) compete to become the fastest driver and to make a bid for the sympathy of the audience. The more popular the girl becomes, the higher her rating grows, the more advertising and promotion offers she receives. The aim is to make the character a superstar not just on the track, but on TV, radio and covers of magazines.

First of all A-Race Extreme Show is a show and the audience loves to be entertained. The winner is not always the one to cross the finish line first, but the one who manages to amuse the public, the one who does it spectacularly, the one that makes the audience scream and applaud.

In A-Race extreme show, you play one of many women who controls a racing car in a bid to become champion of the show. As the game progresses, the character you chose at the become becomes more and more famous and she gets advertising deals for more money. Of course, the gameplay is the main part of the game but the advertising is a nice touch. The gameplay is okay, but the graphics let the game down a bit here. Apart from that, the game is fun and original, and worth the low price.

So I posted this in the Steam thread then realized this might be a better place for it:

I bought Hitman Absolution Professional from GMG the other day, got my key and downloaded it from steam. Today, I go to start it up an get an error message from HMA.exe saying "there is no disc in the drive. Cancel/Try Again/ok"
LOL - I've done a few searches and haven't found an answer - anyone have any ideas?

I am validating my steam files now - hopefully that fixes it.

Edit: NVM validating seemed to work. It found 5 bad files & now I can get in.
@Ashes: I did a perfunctory search, as well as checking price trackers, sorry I missed that.

@everyone else: did the 20% off coupon stop working for sale games? It won't work for Dishonored, or Doom 3 BFG
Probably better to ask when something was that price/lower. ^_^

I thought he was more into hot Russian chicks *on* race cars. ^_~

I was briefly tempted as the screenshots look decent, but the gameplay video below shows that the physics model is quite simplistic (and the guy driving is using the keyboard). There's another longer video on youtube that confirms that better. 1C racer from 2005 with PS2 level graphics, for $3 and capsule client, I think I'm going to pass. If it was $2 and DRM-FREE, maybe.

But, but, it has Miss Russia 2003!

Oh, I guess that won't work on you.

Is it bad that I kind of want is specifically because it looks and sounds awful?

Also, in that video they are racing on Liberty Island? WTF? That island is not big AT ALL.

Kinda looks like the old Rush games from the Arcades and older consoles. Definitely not something that seems worth the money or time for me, but I guess if you were really in need of a racing game and you've exhausted every other option it would be a good pick. I know the franchise can get a lot of hate, but any of the Need for Speed games that seem to be around $5 regularly must be better than this.

Oddly enough I was looking at Borderzone the other day, but I passed on it as well, I just have a ton of RPG games to play, and they appear to be of higher wuality than this as well

When you take advantage of a cashback offer at GMG on a preorder, are you supposed to get the refund right away or do you have to wait until the game is released? I preordered Bioshock Infinte on 2/25, yet I still haven't gotten any cash back in my account yet.

For the Sim City offer it says cash back should go to your account within 2-3 days of your order. Store credit is given once the game is released. Sounds like you should open a support ticket and ask what's going on.
O god I wish this code worked for Sim City. I want it so bad but the inner cheapass inside me says NO!
Same. The $10 credit is nice, but it still feels like paying full price afterwards. Then you have the inconsistency of playing online this week.

Girlfriend wanted SimCity. Broke down and paid msrp for her yesterday. Fortunately she had not one issue. Played about 8 hours uninterrupted. I was sweating it for a few there...

By the time EA gets this game working for everyone, it'll be on sale for lower.
Is GMG going to carry Arma 3?
Probably yes, but only when it oficially releases I think, so the best deal you can get now is on the steam store.

8 hours straight? Damn, she go hardcore.
Is Dark Messiah region locked?
Other than a low-violence version available in Germany, no regional restrictions on DM o' M&M.

A capcom game at that price? Bought! The only resident evil game I played was the first one, on a friend's psx. The last consoles I had were the SNES and Mega Drive, then I switched to Pc
Is Resident Evil 5 really a Steam key? I figured it'd be Capsule but it says it requires Steam on the product page.
It's a Steam key. I purchased it earlier, and activated it right on Steam.

Yep, it's a Steam key. I used to love RE on playstation back in the day, look forward to playing this.

It's a pretty good game if you're not upset by the more fast-paced action oriented shooter gameplay, but I strongly suggest using the modern control type, I forget what it's called, works so much better than the other ones even thought it's still a bit clunky.

That is assuming you're gonna use a gamepad. ^

I think the control types I'm saying to avoid have right stick make the camera swing around your body instead of aim your gun reticle.

crap, I need to change my email address because I'm using different email address with my paypal account. the confirmation email is so damn long. how long the RE5 promo will last?
RE5 is MUCHHHHHHHHHHH better with keyboard/mouse. Only thing that can get confusing with KB/Mouse are the quicktime prompts.
So what you're saying is that if we played through RE5 a second time, you wouldn't suck? ;)
RE 5 was a bit disappointing after RE 4 and due to having to babysit Sheva but it is a masterpiece compared to the trainwreck that is RE 6. I would grab this version to replace my 360 copy if it came with the DLC.
the dlc was never released on the PC... so that goes without saying that it doesn't come with it.

I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for enlightening me.
Thanks man. I don't know if I'll ever play RE5 again, but Sheva's ass with 4x anti-aliasing... I just can't say no to that.
I bought it 3 times so far, for the 360 ... console of choice at the time, for the PS3 for Move support ... and now again for 3D Vision ... 3Deeeee :booty:

... maybe this time I'll actually finish it. I don't know why I end up getting bored or completely uninterested in them. I've only actually finished RE & RE: Dead Aim so far and bought all of them except Outbreak, Mercenaries and 6, with 4 it was right around the time it turned into one giant escort mission ... I like being alone in my horror games, no partners ... no one to save cart around. Revelations isn't that bad on the 3ds. So far it's been keeping my attention, love the 3D hoping the PC version supports it as well.

GMG's front page says about an hour and a half left ...
I never had a problem with Sheva, she saved me more than I ever saved her. Just give her the bow (infinite ammo) and let her do her thing.
Or play with a friend, like it's meant to be played. Singleplayer in RE5 is kinda boring. Co-op is fun though. It takes a playthrough to unlock the bow..

She always runs into trouble and overuses my *cough* medicinal herbs. And she's fairly useless in combat, not killing any of the enemies. They did a good job with making her look sexy, but compared to playing with another person, her AI is awful.

Never tried co-op. Just don't give her all your herbs and ammo. I don't recall what I did with her on the first playthrough without a bow, but I think she did fine.

This game runs really well on my 560 Ti, was able to max out everything and get around 100fps without vsync. They may not have added a bunch of PC exclusive effects to the game, but with so many PC games having severe performance issues lately I'm not gonna complain about RE5. Looks good.

Did you finish the game solo on Professional? That is where her AI really starts to fall apart. Had to draft help for certain sections because trying to keep myself AND her alive was just too much.

I don't really care for co-op since I like to take my time playing games. I much prefer the way it is done in RE6 where your partner is invulnerable when playing solo. That's probably the only thing I really liked in 6 compared to 5...lol.
