hey guys.
i've just been looking through and trying to find some details on the hopeful release of the Grindhouse movies onto HD DVD.

but i havent found any info.
does anyone know if there are any plans of bringing those movies into the format?

and also.
does anyone know if they plan on eventually re-releasing some type of collectors edition with all of the stuff from the theatrical version?
i'd love some info.

also.
completely off topic.
does anyone know if there are any plans for 28 days later and 28 weeks later to be brought to HD DVD? or are they blu ray only?

thanks for all the input everyone.

28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are Fox so they are Blu ray exclusive.

Grindhouse could be released on HD DVD since it is a Dimension film that was made after 2005 (after they were bought by The Weinstein Company), but nothing has been announced. Anything before 2005 is owned by Disney (Buena Vista) and would be a Blu ray release.

well thanks man.
you answered my question.

and.
do you happen to know if there are any plans for a sort of collectors version of grindhouse?
with everything restored and all of that?
Doubtful (on HD DVD anyway).
Wrong.

They are set for release in early 2008 on HD-DVD in Germany.

Death Proof - January 7, 2008
Planet Terror - February 4, 2008
I see.
What? Did you just happen to forget that HD-DVD was region free?

If the guy is looking for it in HD, importing is completely a valid option.

A lot of fox films have been released internationally on HD DVD (Fantastic Four, ROTSS, etc) so the 28 Days and 28 Weeks later may be released overseas soon. That said the PQ on 28 days later is so bad I would avoid it like the plague.

well thanks for the info guys.
about the overseas movies.

i know their region free and everything.
but once i buy them.

without printing out the box art or something.
what are my options for having the english cover?
buying the dvd version and switching them out?

hmm.
thanks for all of the info guys.

and honestly.
about 28 days later.
i personally think that its an amazing movie.
i love the atmospere.

and how everyone is vulnerable.
its not your average zombie movie.
[if you want to call it that]

but thanks anyway.
thats just one mans opinion anyway.

HD-DVD cases are smaller than DVD cases so switching them out wouldn't work.

Protip #1: Never ever try to order something from Amazon.de, their prices are fucking insane after shipping/dollar conversion.

Wait for XploitedCinema to get it in. I doubt it will be more than $40 from them, maybe even cheaper.

So far, I have not heard of any inkling that they're going to release the theatrical version of Grindhouse. However, one thing Harvey Weinstein likes to do is make money, so if the individual sets sell well (which seems to be the case), I wouldn't rule out a special edition with the theatrical cut and all the fake trailers.

I think rodriguez made a comment before about the complete grindhouse being release after a year or so and how he was disappointed his trailer wasn't going to be included in the initial release (machete). Chances are they will do like they are planning to do with kill bill and milk it and milk it again.

I saw it in its second theatrical run (in a cheap theater), and Machete wasn't there.

On the Planet Terror dvd comentary, Rodriguez said that a complete special edition Grindhouse set was coming to dvd soon...which is why his 10 minute cooking school wasn't on the Planet Terror dvd.
