Mmm, looks like I'm the only one missing the reference here. Whose avatar is that?
That would be spoderman. The dude always knows when and where key drops happen in these forums. Rumor has it that he has a basement full of half monkey children that constantly peruse the forums, looking to feed his thousand steam alts.

When codes disappear or end up "used" when they shouldn't be, guard well your remaining key cache, for the spoder may still be near.

Ahh, hahahah.

Damnit, has someone been spying on me?! How did that rumor get out??

I wish they'd have a doujin bundle again. I bought and finished Higurashi a long time ago from them and want the next part of Higurashi, or maybe Umineko this time. No good places to get VNs for cheap usually.

*Note: You might hear me complain about this a lot, so get used to it.

But in the name of heaven, please no more Hatoful Boyfriend. I still don't understand how that... thing was even greenlit, much less wormed its way into Groupees. Never again.

*Note: You might hear me complain about that a lot, as well, so get used to it too!

Remember the one that "almost" got away? The one you thought you'd dealt with?

I guess I wasn't quite as dealt with as you thought, "daddy."
That... is... phenomenal! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Avian based bestiality doesn't do it for you?

Most of the ones on Steam (and a few that aren't) have been in indie bundles at various times albeit spread out over time. There's also the big Steam summer sale coming up next Thursday.

There are some VNs on Steam? Do you know which ones? I looked but couldn't find any.

Might I suggest

. I'm sure your foot could find a much better room than lostunderwear's ass.
Well, I usually use Priceline, but this is a special occasion.

I can tell you right now that's not a great guide (just looking at the first few entries, Spirited Heart is a raising sim and Planet Stronghold is an RPG), but it's definitely a place to start, anyway.
The Winter Wolves stuff is sort of hybridized VN and other stuff. It's still got a fair bit of VN elements to it but yeah if you're a purist then it's not straight 100%.

There's a couple of other things not on that list here and there that depending on how far you're willing to stretch the definition could be considered a least in part of visual novel. To the Moon for instance. And there's maybe a few Adventure games that are really heavy on the story and light on the puzzly, pointy clicky stuff that are almost VNs, like The Cat Lady.

For the more standard weeaboo stuff there's Sakura River but they are pretty awful. Hanako and Christine love I think are decent. Sake Visual's Backstage pass is good if you like Dating Sims but it and the Winter Wolves stuff carry a niche price tag.

The RPG mechanics in Planet Stronghold aren't even good, and the VN part is half-assed. It's like they tried to do both but failed.

Sucks that Ever17 hasn't been released on Steam. It's been sitting in the registry for a long time.. it'd be the best VN on steam by far if it gets released.

Yeah, the attempts Winter Wolves has made at RPGs have been some of their most underwhelming efforts yet. Loren's especially bad, boasting bad VN elements, bad RPG elements, and just plain awful writing. I was honestly surprised that was one of the first things they managed to get Greenlit.

Of course, this was before I realized just how terrible most of the things that get Greenlit really are, so it's not at all surprising in retrospect.

To be honest, I don't think Renpy is really cut out for making RPGs, but he tried. *shrug*

While the writing can be cringeworthy I still think some of the other stuff on Steam is far more heinous like Fading Hearts and Dysfunctional Systems.

Cafe 0 (currently on Greenlight but will probably get in) is okay-ish but really short.

Hatoful and Paca are really just riding the coattails of the goat simulator completely ridiculous games are cool trend.

I'll have to see how the 'deluxe so you don't get a Steam key for buying it in the Groupees bundle' version of Higurashi turns out.

The PS2 version of it, which I don't think was ever localized has much better art.. so my hopes aren't high for the steam release. They shouldn't even be refusing to deliver steam keys if they aren't replacing the art, but whatever.

To be fair, Hatoful's first wave of popularity, even in the English-speaking parts of the internet, was well before Goat Simulator, though the timing of its Steam debut is certainly a response to it.

I also played a "romance a T-Rex" VN before GS, so it's not like the genre of games dedicated to ridiculous dating is a new trend.

Well I was referring to Devolver Digital suddenly becoming interested in putting it up on Steam. I knew those sort of games existed as niche items before that, just like those oddball German simulators did before they started suddenly flooding Steam, which incidentally is what prompted the whole Goat Simulator joke that turned into a game thing.

On the topic of VNs, (that I started, yes I know.) it looks like Narcissu 1 & 2 is free to buy on Steam. It actually looks really good. I'm excited about it.

It's not bad, just depressing as all hell.

I imagine they'll eventually put the third game out as paid DLC, and are putting the first two up for free in the hopes people will get interested and buy it.

Bobbytastic needs to wake the hell up.
You rang?

Problem is I didn't buy the bundle yet. And since everyone only wants to pay $1 (which is reasonable), I'm not really interested in going in for $2, because there's no return on the extra $1 I'd be spending. Nevermind all the time put into doing orders.

I can't imagine too many people here bought the bundle at $2 either. Hopefully someone'll come out of the woodwork or just bite the bullet and go in for $2.

Oh bleh, decisions decisions. No one wants to be the martyr and take the hit for a $2 crappy bundle to get everyone else a $1 crappy bundle.

I guess if there are 4 people willing to pay $1.25 or 5 willing to pay $1.20 etc then it could work, that way the host would get the extra dollar back. *shrug*

So do you need to have bought the $2 bundle before the dollar days started in order to get the extra bundles? IIRC that's how it worked last time.

DOLLAR DAYS are in effect. If you buy one bundle at the $2 tier, you can buy extra bundles for $1 and receive the $2 tier games!
Doesn't sound like it, but I certainly can't confirm.

I'm interested in cheap bundle too if someone's doing.

Shouldn't be too much over $1 because paypal fees are pretty big :/

yeah if you bought the $1 you're out of luck, since there's no way to increase price paid
Says "If you already made a purchase and want to qualify for higher tier products, simply increase your payment with Donate more button on your Profile page."

Dug up an on post that seems to suggest you can buy in the full bundle today and still gift extra copies at $1. It wasn't easy to find either. Thanks CAG 3.0. Your search is really useful.

The whole Dollar Day$ thing surprised everyone, I doubt there was a CAG that had any insight to this being a real possibility. No worries at all, I wasn't out to make a profit but just to get my bundle price down and help out others as well. In the end the 9 CAGs who PM'd me and myself all got the Be Mine 12 bundle for the same cheap price. Everybody won.

I guess we all know now that perhaps buying a Groupees bundle (or a Be Mine bundle specifically?) early isn't the best idea. Because even people who buy at $3.50 today could still reap in the benefits of buying additional $1 gift bundles. I assume they might reevaluate that in the future as it would drive people to wait on buying until a few days left. Groupees has been trying a few new things with their bundles lately though, maybe this is another test to see how many more bundles they can push.
