This is so extremely YMMV, but the guy at the store couldn't get the 50% bonus coupon to work because they had a 30% in-store trade special...So he manually stacked them...with my Edge it was a 90% trade bonus on NSMB toward SMG2

Some of you GS employees will have to tell me how that worked, cuz I'm still scratching my head.

Infinite and Torna - It should work for both of you. They'll give you an Edge card which you can then apply online with the number on the back.

Torna, what you can do to sheild yourself better is to buy SMG2 and ask for a gift receipt. Then when you return it the next day, do so with the gift receipt and they'll put that credit on an Edge card.

I just got done doing this.

Yesterday, I went in and preordered SMG2 by trading in two games for the $40 credit. I still owed $11.xx, with tax.

I just picked up the game and paid off the balance by trading in one more game and using the 50% trade boost coupon.

In the end I had about $9 leftover credit. I asked to have it put on my EDGE card, but the system wouldn't allow it. The GS rep just put the leftover balance onto a giftcard.

The only annoying part is the fact that I have to carry around an extra card until I use it up

So, B2G1 free weekend sales are totally random and YMMV? How frequent are they?

Different regions have different managers who have different profit margins and different rules. YMMV. If you see a store doing it, you go there. You don't drive by hoping for all the stores to do it.

Just doesn't work that way very often in my experience.

one store around here has had a b2g1 the last 2 weekends. its the only store in the area that has had them for whatever reason. too many good deals online lately so the b2g1 doesnt even seem like that much a deal anymore.

Dammit, wish I would've seen this post a couple days ago. The TiV on Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll already dropped to $9.50 + $4.25 (50%) + $0.95 (Edge) = $14.70, it's not quite the $22.40 but I still might bite since the Best Buys seem well stocked and I really wanna be able to get RDR on the cheap.

Are there any other good flips that would work for this deal? I'm also planning on trading in a Mass Effect for the $20 towards RDR.

Wow... Best Buy Cerritos would only let me get $20 off of one copy of Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll, even though the RZ coupon says "Limit 3 of each title per platform per offer." The manager tried to explain to me that it means I can buy those other games but I can only get $20 off one. Yea you ing moron I know that I can buy whatever I want, but what it means is that you need to understand the grammar your company uses in its coupons.


UPDATE: Went back with 2 more RZ coupons and went straight to customer service and ran into the same problem, so i guess it's a system error. At least the cust serv girl was intelligent enough to understand the lingo on the coupon and gave me the two games on one coupon. Now... I just gotta find a GameStop that will take 3 copies of the same game.

I've never traded games for other games with coupons before:

If I trade in:

NSMB + (PS3) CoD:MW2 + (360) Splinter Cell for SMG2

it would be

(25 + 24 + 23) 1.6(coupon & edge) = SMG2 and 65.00 overage on edge card right?

I traded in 3 crappy PS2 games I picked up from a yard sale for $5 total using the 50% bonus trade in credit coupon + Edge and got $29.xx, paid the remainder in cash, and then took the Super Mario Galaxy 2 to another Gamestop on the way home 10 minutes later and they refunded me the full value in cash, LOL. I got back $54.xx cash (including tax). I just turned around and ordered it off their site for $40 + $20 credit.

Yes the overage would apply - someone noted that they got the overage put onto a giftcard.

As for my situation, no I didn't get a gift receipt at all when I made the original transaction - I simply took my three games in with the coupon and Edge card, and I specifically asked if instead of buying SMG2 I could just get the credit put on a giftcard or my Edge, and the guy said "no, for the coupon to work SMG2 must be purchased in the same transaction".

So I said fine, the credit with all the bonuses amounted to $29.xx, I paid the difference in cash (about $25 including tax). Receipt showed the trade ins with the bonuses and also the Super Mario Galaxy 2 purchase.

This was at the location right next to my office, which I hit when I was leaving work...I then directly went to another Gamestop that is along the way home, took the receipt and game into the store and said I wanted to return it because there's a better deal online. The girl scanned the receipt, scanned the game, and said "would you like credit or cash back?"

I was surprised that they would offer cash back or at least full cash back instead of the exact credit/cash combo that I purchased the game with, but nope she gave me the full cost of the game in cash without a problem.
