GS/EB Games - Cheap Ass USED GBA Games

As much as I hate GS, these are probably the best prices they've given for some of these GBA games. It wouldn't surprise me that they're trying to lower the quantity of GBA games they have, either. Even if the DS is backwards compatible. Though I gotta say...good luck actually finding some of these in stock.
Picked up Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Golden Sun, Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga, Metroid Fusion, and Shining Soul. THANKS O--oh, wait, that's me. :p

GameStop I picked these up at had a TON of Golden Suns traded in. Nearly took up two rows of the glass stands they have for the used GBA games.
Makes me wonder how so many stores have plenty of copies traded in of one title and while others don't...

For example, I went to one store that had six (!!!) copies of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for PS2 and 4 copies of Tactics Orge for GBA, yet if you go the average store they won't have any in stock. Odd...

It would seem some locations have virtually no gamers who buy the lesser known titles. Seems to be the reason why Ninja Five-O is rather difficult to come across.

Word of advice, dont waste time when buying games, especially used GBA games because there is usually only one copy. I went into a GS today, spotted a few games that I wanted, and procdeded to do a few rounds, sifting through some 360 games and such. Well, by the time I was "ready" to buy it, the store had filled up a bit, so I thought I would grab some lunch and come back when the crowd and line died out. And of couse, when I return, they sold them. And of a Tuesday!

Guardian Heroes Advance is also $4.99 now. great game, been meaning to play through it.
Unfortunately, GHA isn't as great as GH was. :\
yes, but it's $4.99 and without the comparison, it's one of the better gba games, imho.
Unfortunately, GHA isn't as great as GH was. :\
I liked Treasure's GBA take on Guardian Heroes over Gunstar Heroes. AGH was was fun once you dug into the game and stuck closer to its source material, GSH kinda just pissed me off.
As mentioned on this week's Foreplay, I picked up Car Battler Joe for $4.99 and Urban Yeti for $2.99.
Anyone know the trick to getting GS's computer to show you if its in stock? A search on the site shows "no matches found"
Anyone know the trick to getting GS's computer to show you if its in stock? A search on the site shows "no matches found"
1. Do a search for something they'll definately have, say Mario, Zelda, or Halo.

2. When the results show up, scroll to the bottom of the page

3. There will be a clickable link that says 'Show backordered items or items available in store'

4. Click the link and search away

Another way:

Google "*Name of Game* site:gamestop.com" (without the parentheses). For example, I found Urban Yet by searching "Urban Yeti site:gamestop.com." You'd be surprised how much you can find on the site that way. I searched for Link's Awakening DX that way and found it, but the site threw up an error message when I tried the store locator.

I actually like Advance Guardian Heroes better than the original GH. I can understand the love for the original, but I think AGH is MUCH more balanced.

Granted, it still has a good amount of flaws (Namely, the idiotic reaction to two attacks hitting each other.), but if you want portable Smash Bros, it is the best choice on handhelds, bar none.
are these also in-store? i only want River City ransom.
Yes, this applies to in-store. GameStop's prices are always for their B&M stores and online stores (although their older crap is never updated and thus won't likely be the prices listed on the site, like older GB titles).
Dare I ask what the hell Urban Yeti is about? Looks and sounds like a typical garbage 3rd party title from a no-name company. :(
It's somewhat of a 2D GTA style game where you explore the city as Urban Yeti and the missions alternate from being set in the city and mini-games based upon classic arcade games like Rootbeer Tapper and Toobin'. Plus the cheese factor is through the roof.

I talk about it for a few minutes in the latest Foreplay Podcast around 18 minutes in.
Thanks chakan and manthing.

Scored Urban Yeti this morning. Worth the $2.90 for the name alone.
Congrats, wish I could find one. Shipwreck's podcast made it sound like cheesy fun. I'm in a short game mood.

thanks to this, I just got back from my local GS and picked up the only riviera: the promised land for gba for $9.99. I've been looking all over for that game.

ah ok thanks tsukento. Im gonna have to shoot up to one of them tomorrow..ive been waiting for ransom to drop for some while now.i hope i get lucky and updated that price.

hopefully GS's site is right, if so i might be picking up astro boy, castlevania & DBZ:Buu's Fury later on today :) if their still there

**EDIT**
just got back from EB with the games listed above :) so far i only played astro boy but i gotta admit, its pretty cool
when it first came out and everyone was gushing over it, i though it looked like a cheap rip off of megaman & gunstar heroes
and thats basically what it is, megaman in a gunstar heroes game, but its really good :)

A few decent titles have slipped through the cracks and missed our list. Time to rectify that. :D

I found one too... mint and complete...
I would like to add:

$7.99:
Muppet Pinball Mayhem
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=914198

That's certainly a lot better than:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00005NHSA/ref=sr_1_olp_1/104-1497517-2555956?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1188140592&sr=1-1
The purpose of the list was for GOOD cheap ass GBA games. Anything with "Muppet" in the title is pretty much guaranteed to be a failure for games. It's been that way since the NES. :(

Added some more titles. Here's a funny one that just makes you wonder what the hell GameStop's thinking.

http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=914605

Super Mario Bros. for the GBA. It's $29.99. Why would anyone pay $30 (WAY over the retail price Nintendo gave) for a game they could pay $5 on Wii's Virtual Console? Hell, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (Game Boy Color remake) doesn't cost that much.

Actually, it's a pretty fun little pinball game from what I've played of it. Not $45 fun, but certainly $7 fun.

Whoa, yeah, this title is HARD to find. It is also an excellent pinball game. I looked for over a year for a complete one on eBay and finally settled for cart and manual for $17.
Actually, it's a pretty fun little pinball game from what I've played of it. Not $45 fun, but certainly $7 fun.
Seconded. Pinball of the Dead is a stronger title (and four bucks cheaper to boot), but if you're into pinball games, you could definitely do a lot worse than that title. :)

I tried to go to the gamestop in wilsonville tonight. Unfortunately it was 6:00 and they were closed.

I went to game crazy instead and suprisingly they had several copies of mega man & bass. They were selling it for $7.99, and I didnt feel like waiting so I picked it up anyway. Also got advance wars dual strike for $12.

Finding a used Ninja 5-0 for $4.99 in a random Gamestop would make my day.

EDIT:

ONE EBGS in the span of 200 miles might have one copy. So much for that one.

For those people looking for Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, keep in mind that it's one of the most bootlegged titles in GBA history. Check the back of your carts before you buy. I've seen three fake copies of this title in my area alone, and I live in freakin' BFE.

I would agree with that, be careful when buying ANY GBA game at EbStop, you could be getting a bootleg. Although I think there are more pokemon bootlegs floating around than any other game and some are almost impossible to tell from a real game because they have now duplicated the colors of plastic Nintendo uses for their GBA carts. The only way to tell is to look at the contacts of the game for the white printing.

But know that you can get a good one, too.

The first one I found was a bootleg. The second authentic.

And, like SaraAB says, check the contacts. The case is not a reliable way to tell, and in one instance I saw, someone had taken an original game and swapped out just the circuit board with a bootleg.

Finally hit up my local GameSlop today at lunch and picked up:

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - $6.99
Monster Rancher Advance 2 - $4.99
SabreWulf - $3.99

They had a copy of Dokapon according to the locator, and that's the game I was really going for...but when I got there, the label was shredded. I don't mind cart-only on cartridge games, but I just couldn't force myself to pay money for the damaged cart. It sucks too, because that was the only copy in stock within 200 miles of my location. ): Hopefully one will come into stock that isn't screwed up before they stop carrying GBA stuff at all.

Ok, our gamestop has a TON of used GB games, like a whole case full, but NONE of them are priced. Sure they are priced on the back, but not on the front so the customer can actually see it. This is probably part of their little scam to make you buy the game no matter what price it is, since no GBA game is priced either at any location I go to.

Also pokemon yellow rang up for 9.99 at our location, but red and blue were 2.99 each, no copies of the TCG game in stock.

I found a complete mint Golden Sun for $7.99 ($7.19 after Edge discount). This one GS near me seems to be getting in a lot of used complete GBA games.

My local GS actually has a ZOE: Fist of Mars in stock! Hard to believe... And at $3, the deal is unbeatable!

Let's just hope I can make it to the store before it's gone! THANKS OP!!!!
