GS/EB Coupon/Used Deal of the Week FAQs - thanks oscargrouch
 • Coupon is valid in store (B&M Locations) only, it does not work online.
 • Just print the coupon, not the whole ad.
 • Coupon can be printed from this thread by right clicking on the image, selecting view image, then pressing print.
 • Coupon DOES NOT stack with any other offer, except EDGE cards.
 • Coupon will be valid on the start date of the weekly ad, not earlier. (YMMV on if the employees will do manual override, not recommended.)
 • The EDGE card takes 10% from the original price of the Used Deal of the Week, not the promotional price.
 • Used Deal of the Week is considered a promotion so it will ONLY stack with the EDGE Card, nothing else.

WTF, why does Gamestop want people to trade in Gamecube games, does anyone even have gamecube game anymore? Even more, Is any Gamecube game that worth more than 5 dollars?

Gamecube?? Really?? Wow.

Not surprised they are still pushing trade-in deals to build stock back up after the holiday, but a Gamecube-only coupon?

JP -- thank you as always for getting this posted and ignoring all the people who complain about it!!!

Unlike PS2 games with the PS3 (unless you have an older one) and some OG Xbox games with the 360, GC games work with the Wii, so they're helpful to have on-hand for add-on sales.

Plus, I'm sure people trading in titles they've switched over to Wii versions like Pikmin, RE1 and RE0, it's better than nothing.

This is the most bizarre coupon yet.

1. Why does GS even WANT Gamecube games? It's not like they're red hot items flying off the shelves. I'm surprised they haven't started clearancing GC games out at 25% off, they already stopped taking in Xbox games last year. Shrug.

2. Looking over the TIVs thread (most of the GC titles haven't been updated since last summer so you know the values are about half of what they were then), it doesn't seem worth the ink, paper, and time it would take to print the coupon to get an extra 30%.

Seriously, is there one person on here that's going to use it?

Nice work on this, thanks.
Too bad I already have those Pokemon games that are Used Deals of the Week. :whistle2:?
Is that $39.99 for Assassin's Creed II new? Man that its unusually generous of Gamestop. Might pick it up with my GC.
Games drop quickly these days.

As Shrike pointed out, the Wii is fully compatible with Gamecube games. The 360's BC is a joke; even the select games that work have bugs.

Not a bad deal, but I'm holding out for the next B2G1FREE event.

My wallet's waiting, GameStop; Stop trying to sell me your old GameCube software.

pass
tho the ACII drop is worth keeping an eye, anyone think it's permanent (as in we'll see even cheaper sale prices popping up for it soon) or just a temp. drop?

Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green for $15 each is great by Gamestop standards, but every store in Los Angeles/SOCAL has cart only GBA games - they threw out the boxes long long ago, the bastards.

$15 for cart only copies is bullshit. And I was in a store a few days ago with literally 12 cart only copies of it stacked up in the little glass case, LOL.
Off topic but WTH GAMESTOP?!?!?! Did they just RAISE the price of MASS EFFECT 1 to 22.99?!?!?! when i went in 2 weeks ago it was like 15 bucks! WOW
They do that for all sequel releases.

It could be permanent drop since TrUS also has it for $ 39.99.

Last year GS had the same deal on other Ubisoft games like Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia, and Tom Clancy's End War. With the temporary price cuts, the used prices were still $54.99. It wasn't until the price cut was permanent that they dropped the used price.

More than half the posts in this thread seem to be under the assumption it's 30% off the GC games- the coupon is actually 30% MORE on trade-ins, which is even MORE worthless. You'll be getting pocket change.
Not a bad deal on pokemon mystery dungeon. How was that game?
It's kind of funny that it's on the UDOTW this week. I actually just picked it back up after not playing it in a while, and it's a lot of fun. It's a lot different from usual Pokemon games, though. As a dungeon-crawling RPG made by Nintendo for $5, you can't go wrong. I would recommend it- just read a few reviews before you do so. :D
gonna try to tradei n a super smash bros melee copy with the coupon...anyone know what that would get me in credit
No where near what you could get for it just selling it for cash anywhere else - craigslist, amazon, ebay...

You might get $3 or 4 bucks if you're lucky. They sell it for $14.99...I wouldn't expect to get 33% for it. Probably 20% of their selling price.

I'm thinking of buying one of the GBA pokemon games. Does anyone have a preference for which one I should get? I haven't touched a pokemon game since I beat the original blue version back in like 1998. I have an iphone, so it's not like I'd play it for a while. I probably wouldn't touch it until i went on a long trip. For $11.99 after EDGE, it sounds like a fair deal.

karkyco is correct. Since they sell it for $14.99, you should get something between $3 or $4 before the coupon. I would call and double check if I were you. I would probably just keep it for sentimental value unless theres something you're really really dying to buy with the store credit.

If you have a ipod touch or phone you can jailbreak it and get all gameboy and gameboy advance games for free

That's piracy and illegal, which makes it way off topic at CAG.
It's a fair deal considering these go for double that on ebay. (NOTED: Edited because I don't what the hell I'm talking about--typical according to many :)

Also, keep in mind its a 50/50 chance you'll end up with a bootleg version, as GBA Pokémon games are some of the most bootlegged games ever, and Gamestop does not validate whether or not the cart is legal or not. Your best chance (though not guaranteed) is to pick up one with a foil label, as that was the official Nintendo label, at least for the initial releases.

That coupon is pretty weak. GS payouts for GC are probably horrible to begin with. The Wii must double GS's resell volume on the GC games--instead of the standard 6 resells, it must be closer to 12-16. I have always wondered if the average buyer is even aware of GC compatibility, much less how many of them take advantage of it.
It's a fair deal considering these go for double that on ebay. The only diff between the versions is your starting Pokémon (Google it for exact details) and maybe 1 or 2 other critters throughout the game--otherwise it is the same game as all the other ones.
The starting pokemon you choose from are the same.

There are about 20-22 Pokemon that are exclusive to each version.
Wonder if the ACII limited edition went down in price as well?
That would be pretty cool. I'd jump on the lmt ed for $40 even though I have finished AC1
