CAGiversary!
This is true only if they are running some sort of "deal". If you had taken your WW up there on a normal day, and they offered you $25(?), would you have still done the deal? Most, if not all of the games people are mentioning here are "newer" titles that are coming up with the best deals. I'm sure GS will sack these trade in prices shortly once they realize they aren't able to make a huge markup on the resale.
Emphasis on when I said "these deals" are not always so bad ;)
They must be lowering trade in values alongside these "deals" because I was offered a measly $20 before bonus for Crackdown and $6 for Chromehounds. These games sell for $55 and $26 used. The bonus brought them up to the bare minimum (and what I expected before the coupon) I was going to trade them for, about $30 and $10.

I walked out and laughed. GameStop is becoming such a joke.
Crackdown's value was probably a stock thing, they probably have several used copies of it.

Damn...I have GoW and Oblivion just sitting here and I would clear more money on them than when I bought them (well break even on GoW and 10% profit on Oblivion). I usually abhor trading stuff to EB/Gamestop....but now I'm contemplating it. $80.85 is tempting.

While I still want to hold onto Oblivion (waiting to play the expansion once/if the glitch is removed), I too have a copy of GOW that I paid ~$40 for at launch.... A great game, but I've had my fill over the past six months... tempting....

I feel the same way about Oblivion, but I don't really play it right now and think I could probably pick it up for cheaper in the coming months.

My copy is the collector's edition and I just don't dare part with it ;)

Just got these prices quoted over the phone:
Xbox 360
BF2:MC - $9
King Kong - $5

No thanks I can get my $10 i paid for Kong back plus maybe a lil extra pretty easy on Ebay. Plus BF2 is my personal copy but the only game I really haven't been playing that much of...

Dont forget the 20% extra trade in credit when you pre order Halo 3, just put down the 5.00. I traded in 2 copies of Graw 2, 1 GOW, and Star Trek Legacy and got 189.00 credit. They also excepted my edge card. I got more games and am going back today!

That is going to be ~extreme~ YMMV. The 20% pre-order bonus and 50% two game bonus are not supposed to stack, as they are seperate promotions, and the vast majority of stores will not accept two copies of the same game in the same trade.

trade in, get your 50% and edge card and put it on a gift card. then use the gift card to get the extra 20% and edge card again?
trade in, get your 50% and edge card and put it on a gift card. then use the gift card to get the extra 20% and edge card again?
LOL, you mean then trade in your giftcard?:applause:

I jumped on it...

GoW - $24 + $12 + $2.40 = $38.40
Oblivion - $25 + $12.50 + $2.50 = $40.00

Total - $78.40

Bought Super Paper Mario and preorder for Pokemon Diamond.

Then I went and spent $400 on a new surfboard....haha.

Probably heading out tomorrow to trade Diddy Kong Racing and Wario Master of Disguise for what GS's site says should amount to $45. Not bad for 2 DS games.

I'm considering trading Warioware: Smooth Moves and Trauma Center Wii, but I don't really want to part with Warioware. I did beat it, though, and it's got a fairly high value for just being released. I wonder what Trauma Center trades at.

ok just got back from EB. listed below are first the original trade-in values and then the actual credit received after promo plus edge.

New Super Mario Bros. cart $15-->$24
Kirby Squeak Squad cart $15-->$24
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii) $22-->$35.20
Kameo (360) $8-->$12.80

Total credit: $96.00

I had a few sealed games that they refused to price for me unless they let me open them which i decided not to do.. weird policy because after I left the store I called another EB and they gave me trade-in values right away. The values below are original values without promo or edge.

Rapala Tournament Fishing (Wii) $17
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed (PSP) $7
Samurai Warriors State of War (PSP) $8

The first store also gave me no hassle about combining edge with the promo - in fact they asked for my edge to give me the extra 10%.

Traded in Twilight Princess and Gears of War for $81 of credit. I got denied at the first location because the games were not on the same system, but the second accepted both games. Not too shabby!:D

Twilight Princess $27
Gears of War $24

alright nobody's really brought it up yet, but is there any way we can really milk this deal by buying games from other stores (Gamerush, etc.) and trading them in?

See this is EXACTLY what I fuckin mean! There is NEVER any specific policy with EB/GS! They make it so that SOME assholes will say "They have to be the same system!" and some won't!

This pisses me off so much!
But congrats on that! I too wanted to trade in TP & GoW in hopes to get $81 in credit!
How did you get 45 for COD3 if the trade went down to like 18.
oops i meant i bought it for 46 at the time

Does anyone know the current trade value of Trauma Center Wii?

CAGwiki says 22, but its old. I'm looking to trade it with Warioware Smooth and 2 sets of 2 $15 DS games to get a DS Lite and a preorder on a Wii game.

Here were my base trade-in values. I was told that the two titles had to be for the same system, but it seemed it was because the clerk was having issues, not because of a restriction. :(
360 - Gears of War = $24.00
360 - Phantasy Star Universe = $14
Wii - Zelda: Twighlight Princess = $27
Wii - Far Cry = $5
Wii - Open Season $5

I got $60.80 total with coupon + edge for Gears and PSU. I traded Far Cry and Open Season for a new Super Paper Mario. (I kept Zelda to trade later this week after I play Super Paper Mario since those two will net about $91.20, together).

$152 in trade ain't too shabby when I paid $155 + tax for these games originally: $60 (Gears) + $45 (Z:TP) + $16 (PSU) + $17 (FC) + $17 (OS)

By the way, the way they calculate trade in value is to take the base value of the game and add 10% of the base for Edge, then add 50% of the base for the coupon. (ie, Gears was $24.00 + $2.40 + $12.00 = $38.40).
Anyone knows how much splinter cell double agent Wii can get @ GS?EB? thanks
Ok called a GS got the quote for $9 for Splinter Cell Double agent Wii 4/14/07

Today's values quoted over the phone -
all 360
Over G Fighters $12
Splinter Cell Double Agent $9
Blazing Angels $14
GRAW $8
Call of Duty 2 $7

that's pretty low considering they're 360 games!

traded in some DS games today 4/14:

Harvest Moon DS: $10
New Super Mario Bros: $15
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: $7
Elite Beat Agents: $8

With 50% and Edge card it went from $40 to $64.

I'm quite surprised that Elite Beat Agents only got $8 trade in - I guess it's just not a popular game...

Also, they let me do more than 2 games with the coupon. Code still worked fine.
that's pretty low considering they're 360 games!
Not really. Most of those are fairly old games or recieved dramatic price cuts over the past few months. Plus they probably have a lot of those games already.

Just got back.

The only unreported trade in price of the games I traded in is Trauma Center for the Wii. It was $18.00. That should be changed in the wiki, as should the fact that Original DS hardware trades for $50, not 2x.xx as it says in the wiki.

I traded 3 sets of 2 games, 2 Wii and 4 DS. They said since it said nothing on the coupon, they'd let me do it, but usually they limit it to 1 per person per day.

They did, however, require 3 coupons.

What I did tonight is I had several DS games and went to Gamecrazy..they usually give a buck or two higher on stuff..so I printed out the from page PDF and they honered it so I made out better, by 5 bucks on one game several on anothers.:applause:

Awesome. I'll have to give that a shot.

All in all I made ~$200 for Warioware Smooth Moves, Trauma Center Wii, Wario Master of Disguise, Diddy Kong Racing, NSMB, Kirby Squeak Squad. Great deal.

Damn. That's so terrible.

We really need a thread on here where people can offer a little more (with shipping) above what EB is giving people and folks can offload games that way.

Based on my trade experience, 10% more is based on your original trade-in price, not after the 50% promo. total is $222.4 not too shabby.

Yes, you are definately right. For fear xbox 360, It will be like $29-$30 shipped. Still a very good deal for any CAGers.

Well without the 50% I don't think people on this site are dumn enough to trade-in at EB/GameStop. Selling on eBay on making a trade list here makes for a much better deal on both ends.

If I could add one thing to this website...and it would take some work, but it would be to have a system where all games are priced on CAGWiki for a stated value (like I said, a lot of work from the moderators)...These values would obviously be more than trade-in, but less than buying used at EB/GameStop. It would serve as a middle ground for everyone so we don't have to get screwed. We would upload our for sale games, somehow so that a potential buyer could go to CAGWiki, type in the game he/she wants, and that game comes up with the various people selling it AT THE STATED PRICE made my the moderators.

Some might ask how would people pick who they buy from..."some people's games may sit there unnoticed..." Easy, the games are sold in the order that they are uploaded in to the "system." If there is demand for your game, upload it and you know, within due time, it will be sold. Everyone who uploads games has PayPal, checkout occurs, and yeah...PERFECTION.

I tried to dump them all at once and ran into an idiot employee who did not know how to apply a coupon. I only ended up dumping 2 of my games (oblivion and RS), but I am going to dump the rest tomorrow.

I ended up biting on this. I traded in the following:

Twilight Princess: $27.00 + $13.50 + $2.70 = $43.20
NSMB: $15.00 + $7.50 + $1.50 = $24.00
Saints Row: $16.00 + $8.00 + $1.60 = $25.60
COD3 (360): $16.00 + $8.00 + $1.60 = $25.60

Total: $118.40. I paid about $140 total for these four, so not bad. I used the credit and paid the difference for a Pink DS Lite for my girl.

I'd like to know what Valkyrie Profile: Lennth trades for. I have Rayman for Wii and would gladly trade it, but I don't really have a 2nd game. My CC has a couple more VPs though, so I could get another one of those and possibly turn a profit on that.

Was this the add with the B2G1 on Xbox games? It was posted in one of the GS topics here but now I can't find it. It was in the title thread.

I was able to get the extra 20% more by reserving pokemon DS. Nice! After 50%,20%and 10% edge, it is $30.24 for Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Not too bad.

CheapAssTrader.com CAT = sister site of CAG for trading. Register the domain.

I traded in 4 DS games today (4/14):

Contact
trade in value= $9
bonus 50% = $4.50
extra 10% = $.90
Total Trade Value = $14.40

Big Brain Academy
trade in value= $8
bonus 50% = $4
extra 10% = $.80
Total Trade Value = $12.80

Castlevania: DoS
trade in value= $7
bonus 50% = $3.50
extra 10% = $.70
Total Trade Value = $11.20

New Super Mario Bros.
trade in value= $15
bonus 50% = $7.50
extra 10% = $1.50
Total Trade Value = $24

Employee even tried getting me the extra 10% by preordering (I put down the full amount on Touch The Dead), but couldn't get the system to add it. Also got the full-sized Transformers movie poster by putting $5 down on it.

I think I left my receipts in all my game cases, now when someone buys Contact for about $25 used they'll see the receipt from CC for $16.96 and NSMB used for $29.99 w/receipt for $24 new from Target :)
can you trade 2 games but on diff systems i.e. god of war 2 and zelda?
Ah ha, a trick question! Yes, you can trade games from different systems. No, you cannot combine God of War 2 and Zelda for the deal. PS2 games are not eligible, only current gen platforms.
