GS won't let me cancel a pre-order!

CAGiversary!
Can they do that? They say that they can't cancel my pre-order for BF:BC2 since I received a beta code. But after playing the beta, I have absolutely no desire to ever buy the game. I ordered it online and they haven't charged my card yet, but they certainly will when it ships.

What are my options? I really don't want to buy the game, but I also don't want to have to cancel my credit card...

Just let it ship then return it to a local Gamestop. I've never had to do this but do believe it will work.

[quote name='From GS.com Pre-order section']Low Price Guarantee
Pre-order any product, and if the price drops before the release date, you will be charged the lower price.

Payment Processing
Your credit card will be charged only when your order is processed. In some cases, we will process your order and authorize your credit card up to 10 days before the release of the product. This allows us to get the product to you faster.

Availability
Occasionally, manufacturers will limit the amount of a product available. If this happens, we will process the online orders in the order in which they were received.

Promotional Items
From time to time, GameStop.com will offer a special promotional item with a pre-order. Due to limited availability, these items are only available while supplies last.

Note: An order cannot be cancelled once the pre-order item or code has been supplied.

Delivery
Orders containing both pre-orders and in-stock merchandise will be broken into separate shipping groups. Each group will be shipped as soon as the merchandise becomes available. Handling charges will apply to each shipping group independently.

In an effort to ship pre-orders as quickly as possible, sometimes we use external resources to “drop ship” merchandise to you directly from the source. This eliminates the time it takes to ship product to our warehouse before shipping it to you. Due to the tight time constraints, some orders will not make it into our drop ship process. Those orders are shipped directly from our warehouse, usually on the following business day.

Some of the order types that will typically miss our drop ship process are:
  • Pre-orders received by us too close to the release date. Cut-off dates are normally three or four days in advance of the ship date.
  • Postal orders like, P.O. Box, APO/FPO and Value Shipping.
  • Pre-orders that fail our credit authorization process.
Pre-order Release Dates
GameStop.com works tirelessly with game publishers to ensure accurate release dates on our site. Occasionally, publishers run into problems during the production of a game and the release date must be changed. Sometimes dates move forward; more often they move back, and frequently they get changed more than once.

If a game is scheduled for release far in the future, the vendor may not even give us a date. In those cases we rely on the collective wisdom of our buying staff to estimate a date based on their knowledge of the industry and the vendor's history.

We guarantee that we will always post the best release date information available at the time of our posting. We know that you want that hot new game yesterday, and we want to be the company that gets it to you quicker than anyone else.

Wait until the order is processed and shipped, and when you get it, take it back to the store to return it. Unless there's a dollar amount listed on your invoice for the pre-order bonus, they can't bill you for it.

What Shrike said. I doubt the invoice would even have the preorder bonus on it since it wouldn't be packed in the same shipment. Just return it to the store and have GS eat the cost of shipping it to you.

I feel like a charge back would be too much of a hassle. I say do what the others said and just return it to a store when it ships.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I had preordered one of the Rogue Squadron games for the gamecube and it came with a demo disc that you could pick up before the time of purchase. After trying the demo I decided I didn't want to pay full price for the game so for me to be able to cancel the preorder I had to return the demo disc.

I never did understand why you could only get a demo to a game if you pre ordered that game. If I want the game badly enough to pre order it then giving me a demo for it is no kind of incentive. If nothing else this happens, someone plays the demo and doesnt like it then they dont want to buy the game from them. Then if you dont like it your stuck in your situation where its a pain to get your money back and nothing happens but your time is wasted.

Seems to me if you pre order one game you would get a demo for a different game. Then again the whole idea of using just a demo as a pre order incentive is really pretty cheap, Ive never thought "Hey if I pre order the game I get a short unfinished version of it I can play before I can play the real game".

I liked it better when just a stupid demo wasnt exclusive to anything, if you wanted to try it you could either get a free demo cd from a store or download the demo for any game.

Paying 50-60 dollars for a full game just to get the demo is ridiculous. It is a waste of money in the first place. You could of waited until the demo gets released on PSN, or rent the full game at a rental store. Can't say I feel your sympathy. Next time, try not be so impatient.
