GTA 4 isn't doing much for me yet
While SR2's story wasn't very memorable (Hell, I don't even remember it). It was still fun. There are a lot of games I play, but then halfway through it just gets repetitive and I just want to reach the end. But Saint's Row 2 was different. Don't get me wrong, I still love good games like Bioshock and Braid, but Saint's Row 2 is that kind of game where you can just relax and just have some mindless fun.
How does Crackdown compare to SR2? I heard they had some similarities.

I need to go back and beat GTA IV. I mean I liked the story and found the story missions a lot more fun to do than Saints Row 2, but my whole problem with the game was it's seriousness. I love Saints Row 2 a lot more than GTA IV because of how over the top it is.

Crackdown is over the top in the sense that you're a super-powered cop that can lift cars, jump buildings and the like. It's not too similar to SR2 as in there are no specific missions that you have to start. They're (almost) all available at the start. The likenesses are that there are 3 gangs to eliminate. Add in open-world and that's where the similarities end. I found SR2 to be a bit more fun and it is much longer than Crackdown. I still enjoyed Crackdown, but comparing it to SR2 is a tiny bit of a stretch.

I'm a fan of GTA IV and enjoyed Prototype more than most reviewers, so I'll probably pick it up sometime before the second one is released.

Crackdown might be the only game of this type I've ever finished (really tore through it-it's really fun).
I loved everything about GTAIV except the lack of checkpoints and long driving distances during missions.
Those were probably my biggest gripes, along with just finding missions boring and repetitive after a while.

But if there had been checkpoints, I probably would have powered through and finished since I put so much time into it before scrapping it. Even with use of taxi's etc. the lack of check points in longer missions was just unbearable for me, given my hatred of replaying sections of stuff over and over to get past one sticking point etc.

Yeah, I can put up with some pretty stupid bullshit from a game, but the lack of checkpoints - coupled with some of the most kamikaze drivers I have ever seen - had me ragequitting a few times.

Ugh, yeah seemed like I was hit more often in my few hours playing that than in all the other GTAs I've played combined :whistle2:D

Well for all the times I disagreed with you I gota agree that GTAIV is probably one of the most over rated games of all time. Even Kanye West would agree to that.

Just pissed off they gave me an achivement for doing the tutorial/intro level. Now I'm stuck with that forever.

I might grab the PC version again down the line for under $10 though.

Saints row got that horrible respect meter, doing generic side quest to progress, thats 3 times more frustrating then anything in GTA.

The whole realistic is a natural progression, makes it different, its still too damn long though.
It boggles the mind that so many of you prefer Saint's Row 2 to GTA4. SR2 was one of the corniest pieces of shit I have ever played. That was so bad it hurt my brain. I guess it stands to reason that people prefer corny garbage to good games just like they love their Michael Bay movies and shit on quality work.

Also anyone shitting on the cars is crazy. Just because they all have different attributes and the game doesn't play like your favorite arcade racer doesn't mean the driving aspect wasn't really solid. Just because they have realism factored in doesn't mean that any vehicle in the game was flawed in a bad way.
i hate most of the stuff michael bay does that said there is more fun and diversity to be had/experienced in sr2 over gta4. gta4 looks a millions times better than sr2 buts theres alot to do to keep you busy in sr2 especially as far as side missions go.

gta4 does have better car/vehicle mechanics and a better combat/shooting system and i like the online modes in gta4 better. that said i only play gta4 for racing.

in their pursuit of making a more "realistic" gta game gta4 lost alot of what made the previous gta games , especially san andreas, so great.

I actdually liked the first Transformers movie pretty well, for what it was. And although it was bad, Transformers 2 was far from the worst film I've seen (zero plot and racist robots and all)

I can't believe I'm sort of defending Bay...at least so far as "hey, his movies don't make me puke, and kind of held my attention for two hours" ;)

I recently came back to this after finishing the Episodes from Liberty City. The expansions were good, the main story isn't so much.
