You'll have to wait for awhile after it comes out to get it though, no?
I tell you what? If he buys it for me from them I still would have to think about it.

Family video and new releases doesn't work that well with me. I would say it's a good deal if you don't mind waiting weeks to get it.

anyone know if they charge right away?
there's ONE dollar pending on my bank account from familyvideo. if they charge me all of it, Im over my funds.

lame. they better not.

according to their FaQ they'll lock out the funds required once you place your order so technically yes they will charge as soon as you place though the actual transaction isnt completed until your order physically ships. It can varry on your CC/bank but usually a pending transaction doesnt actually trigger an overdraft fee because the funds havent technically gone anywhere yet, but still not the best of ideas to charge something if you cant pay for it..

How do I cancel my order real fast then?

nvm, I found out how. But oh well, I'm sure I can't cancel it in time, and you're right, they arent taking money from my account, so I should be fine.
Amazon just sends you an email saying you didnt have enough money, so Im hoping they will as well.
Anyone else catch the irony?
haha i see what u did there. cuz its a "family" video and grand theft auto is not a "family" video, so like it's not family-oriented hahahahahahahahahaha!!!

No they don't charge until the item ships.

Yes, it can take time for new releases to ship--a couple games I got right away, like a few days from release, but others took a couple weeks longer than it should've.

As for canceling, I haven't done it, but many CAGs reported problems canceling games--often receiving the item even if they canceled weeks in advance.

I wouldn't order from them unless you are going to commit to the order and if don't mind potentially waiting a long time to get the game.

I have ordered many games from it and i ended up getting the games before the weekend of their release or max on Friday. They don't charge you until they ship it and canceling the order is not a problem. I had to cancel Haze which i pre ordered thinking its gonna come out in Jan and later i just had to give them a call to cancel it. So far my experience with FV has been excellent.
Does not apply to any game! Tried getting Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam for PS2 and guess what... DENIED!!!
I am not sure what you did but, it works for any games. The code is SAVE5NOW. it should show up in the total before clicking accept.

Got my copy of Orange Box a few days after it came out from Family Video, and ended up paying like $45.00 shipped.

That being said, I pre-ordered the special edition from them for $80.00, and DMC4 CE for $65.00

The SAVE5NOW coupon only works on purchases $50+. Downhill Jam is not over $50.

I've had the same experience with Family Video as gunm. Primarily inconsistent delivery times. But I'm willing to wait to save $10-15.

I have also tried to cancel an order before - only a couple of days before the game released - and they couldn't stop it from shipping. If you need to talk to customer service, I'd recommend calling rather than email, but if you are trying to cancel, good luck. Make sure you really want something before ordering with them.
so how long do you have to wait to actually get it?
I and others have had good experiences receiving Tuesday releases on Thursday or Friday with budget shipping. Other people have had problems with FV I guess but my experience with them has been excellent. Since I got the new release by the weekend I was happy I didn't go any higher than budget shipping.

All I know is that I preordered Phoenix Wright: Justice For All from them and had to wait weeks after release to get it.

I've never had a problem with FV.com, and I pre-ordered Halo 3 & 2 copies of Call of Duty 4. I even had a game stolen via USPS and they sent a replacement next day UPS.

Great deal ... hopefully they'll be good at getting the game shipped shortly after the release date. I ordered Gears of War from them shortly after the release date and it took about five days to get it.

Every game i pre-ordered till now was delivered on or before every Friday of the game release week which is pretty awesome for 99 cents.

*cough* buyswapreturn *cough*

yea, when i order from them, i usually buy from a walmart and target to play it now, then just return the copy i got from family video when it comes

I've preorded three games in the past few months from FamVid. I usually get them about 10 days after the release. For most games that's fine, but not for GTA4. I want that day one.

I've preordered Wii games and have received them on Friday of release week. It was deepdiscount.com that didn't get me Metroid Prime 3 til way after release.

I spoke too soon, they canceled my DMC4 pre-order the other day.

"Not enough stock" or some such crap, this worries me about GTA. Oh well, I'll just pre-order it in a B&M store as backup.
