It was noted in another thread that GTA: San Andreas will be 29.99 for Xbox and PC in the upcoming CompUSA ad for June 12th, by Showstoppa. He said he would get a scan of the ad soon, so I believe this is legit.

I belived a deal like this deserved it's own thread, since this is an awesome deal that got buried in a different deal thread.

If you pricematch it to CC or BB, that's an extra 10% making the game 27.99. I know I can wait that extra week for 22 dollars in savings.

I dont understand why you would start a whole topic if you dont even know if its true.

But I was also hopeing to cash in on this, so hope its legit.

Someone said the same in the original $5 CC sale thread.

Shit happens, and sometimes it's extraordinarily cool shit.

Well the person posted it in another topic. So no matter what it would be discovered. Not to mention most people seem to get these ads day in advance, plus it would be nation wide.

CompUSA offered Madagascar $20 off the retail price ($39.99 --> $19.99).. so this deal isn't that far fetched, i'm sure it'll happen

Exactly.

cant you just get it at circuit city on thursday, and then pricematch it to compusa at a later date? they allow that right?

Just wait to make sure the deal is real. Unless you don't care if you end up paying $50.

i dont, ive waited a long time for this on the PC..

i also have a great backup, its called Frys :D they usually put the big games on sale for $30-$40 the friday of the week it comes out, so i can just PM it there.

I have a question about price matching. The closest CompUSA is a good 2 hr drive away; can you price match at stores if there are none in your area?

I was waiting to pick it up for $40 as it might as well eventually enough be advertised somewhere like in a Fry's ad or at CC. If it was $29.99 so soon, I'd be all over it. The PS2 version hasn't been as low yet.

On their policy, I believe they have the "must be in XX mile radius" thing, or something like that for it to be PM'ed.

They also did this with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (PC). It was 49.99 for 29.99. Awesome deal if true. Here's hoping.

Very nice. Is this one going to be $50 MSRP?

This is one of the few games I'd even somewhat consider paying full MSRP for, so I'll be all over this $30 price.

They also did this with the Star Wars III games. All versions went for $29 on one weekend.

This is sweet, for $60, I can get both versions.

Yes, you can do it, as long as it meets all the pricematch criteria:

1) It's in stock at CompUSA.
2) It's properly shown at the ad as being a $29.99, out-the-door price, not after rebates or any other foolishness.
3) CompUSA is a local competitor in your area.
4) You bring in the reciept within 30 days after your purchase.

You're boned.

"Nearest local competitor" would be within 25 miles of the Circuit City store, from what someone in their customer relations department told me.

I would be al over this, but I can't wait another week and I really need to get rid of this game stop credit. I would of bought the episode 3 game for $30 though

For the reason you just listed. Showstoppa seemed to be pretty reliable, he had a good post count so he's active in the community, but this deal was lost in a Gamestop free 2 day shipping thread that probably didn't interest many people.

At least making it it's own thread lets everyone see it, and probably in a day or so someone will pop up with an advance ad making it legit. But for now, its out there so people know, and don't blow 49.99 this week when they could have saved 20 bucks.

I have a feeling 29.99 will be even lower than Fry's prices.

During Black Friday weekend, Microcenter was selling GTA:SA for $25 or 30 so it's been down that low. Just not lately. :)
just curious, does the pc version of GTASA let you play multiplayer online?
There was a mod for VC and 3 that allowed multiplayer, called multitheftauto. Im sure theres will be one for SA.

Where do people get advanced ads from?

And if it is true, could I just pm it to BB, and use the GGC?
And if it is true, could I just pm it to BB, and use the GGC?
Yeah, that would be sweet. $22.99 for GTA: San Andreas! So lets hope this'll work.

Why would you PM something if was in stock at the store you're PM'ing it from. If it were in stock why wouldn't get it at the store with the lower price.
Why would you PM something if was in stock at the store you're PM'ing it from. If it were in stock why wouldn't get it at the store with the lower price.
Cause if you PM it, like at CCity, you get 10% the diff. off. (if they sell it for 50, and you PM it for $30, you get it for $28)
I have a question about price matching. The closest CompUSA is a good 2 hr drive away; can you price match at stores if there are none in your area?
NO... stores that are not in the same area will not price match stores from other towns...
Why would you PM something if was in stock at the store you're PM'ing it from. If it were in stock why wouldn't get it at the store with the lower price.
Because I don't feel like driving 25 minutes to CompUSA, but I can drive less than 5 minutes to Circuit City and get an extra 10% off.

Hmm...GTA:SA for $30 or MG:A for $30 (at Fry's)...already got GTA:SA for Xbox...must...resist!
Why would you PM something if was in stock at the store you're PM'ing it from. If it were in stock why wouldn't get it at the store with the lower price.
Let's say that you go to Best Buy to PM CompUSA's price. Maybe you happen to have a Best Buy gift card that you want to use, or you want to purchase using your Best Buy credit card, or you want Rewards Zone points. There's several reasons why you would want to PM.

Yes, there will be:

Here's the site for the past multiplayer mods (GTA3 and Vice City):

I'll be picking up the PC version this weekend. The only problem is that being originally developed for the PS2, the graphics are simply horrible by PC standards. Great games though.

Ummm, not necessarily true. I PM Fry's, which is like an over an hour away, all the time at my local Best Buy. It won't hurt to try.

Yeah, CompUSA does this every now and then to try to get you into the store and buy other things, "loss leader" is the term I think. I'll be pricematching this at CC.
Doesn't COMPUSA retro pricematch--you could buy it there now, and then get the diff refunded if it goes on sale on Sunday?
I believe they do but I want to make sure this is true before I buy it. Plus I will go to BB to get my RZ points.
