It was noted in another thread that GTA: San Andreas will be 29.99 for Xbox and PC in the upcoming CompUSA ad for June 12th, by Showstoppa. He said he would get a scan of the ad soon, so I believe this is legit.

I belived a deal like this deserved it's own thread, since this is an awesome deal that got buried in a different deal thread.

If you pricematch it to CC or BB, that's an extra 10% making the game 27.99. I know I can wait that extra week for 22 dollars in savings.
wait, so does best buy actually do pricematches AFTER youve bought games(like how circuit city will adjut the price 30 days after purchasing it)?
Yes, they will give you thirty days to come back.

Hey, Showstoppa PM'ed me... he has the ad, but nowhere to host it. I suggested imageshack or XS, but if anyone else has any ideas, let him know.

I'd host it for him if I wasn't so busy these last few days.

He already posted it on page 4.

But remember, they will only price match it back while Comp USA has that lower price. So once Comp USA's ad expires, BB and CC will no longer price match it.
Thanks for the scan. Time to go figure out who to pick it up from. Unless BB ponies up some RZ certs, I'm thinking it might be CC who I get it from. Around here, the BB's are hard as heck to get PM's out of. Jackass regional manager, from past experiences.
Best Buy is giving TRIPLE reward zone points on GTA:SA for Xbox and I think PC next week... it's best to PM it from there.

Or it may be this week... can't remember atm.

If you price match, will you still get Triple Points?

And here is my plan for getting San ANdreas, if anyone sees problems please let me know because I haven't PMed at BB before.
1. Go to BestBuy and pick up a Gamer Gift Card with 50 dollars on it.
2. Come back and pick up San Andreas (next week so I can get 3x RZ points).
3. Go to Customer Service and get my "refund" for the PM.

Should that work? I wanna get the game cheap as possible, even though it's worth the whole 50. With the GGC I will end up getting the game for $22.99 plus tax.

Picked this up today at BB and of course then I see this thread. Oh well, I'll just get my difference + 10% back Sunday morning with the ad.

GGC + PM is YMMV and might not work if you're trying to get the game PM'd after the fact. PM + 10% only happens on the back-end of the transaction. They'll do PM at time of purchase, PM + 10% afterwards.

Your best luck might be to do PM for $30, then use the GGC for another $5 off, though these days, the computer gets funny when you do a manual price change, even with it being a PM.

The last time I did this was last week, when Area 51 was on sale for $44.99, and $34.99 for RZ members. Their computer didn't see the price for a RZ member, so they had to do it manually. Then I used a GGC on it, and it didn't work and had to be changed manually down to $29.99. If the computer would see the price correctly in the computer at $34.99 when it was rung up, due to my RZ card, it wouldn't have been an issue.

Any time they do a manual price change for a PM or otherwise, the coupons don't work and they have to do another manual price change for the coupon's deduction.

Not saying it won't work, though thinking you'll get it for $22.99 might be a forlorn hope. $24.99 might be more doable, though don't hold your breath on that one. I'm aiming for $27.99 after a PM and might just go to CC to not deal with the hassle of BB.

The only reason I'm going to BB is because it is across the street from GameStop, whichis having a B2G1 free used game thing again.

I might just take the 27.99 price, but does the GGC show up on the receipt? I guess it could show up taking the 5 dollars off... I'll just go tomorrow and see what I feel like doing and what will be easiest but saves me a good sum of money.

It doesn't show up as a GGC, though I think it shows up like this:

GTA: San Andreas Xbox .................................. $44.99
$49.99 with $5 off

If buying it at the normal price. I could look tonight and tell you the exact text, if you wanted to know for certain.

No, you don't have to do that. I was just trying to see if I used a GGC if they would then still price match it when I came back next week with the ad.

I've been on the end of that, and what they'll do is give you the difference back.

Say you bought it for $50 w/o a GGC, they'll give you back $22, which is the difference of $50 - $30 * 1.1, netting a final price of $28.

If you bought it for $45 w/a GGC, they'll give you back $16.50, which is the difference of $45 - $30 * 1.1, netting a final price of $28.50.

Since you use the GGC on the front of the transaction, you get back $0.50 less, since you're starting at $45 instead of $50.

Okay. I guess I won't use the GGC then. More of a hassle anyways. Thanks for the advice.
Wow Compusa has some killer deals. My GameRush deal for $29.99 isn't looking as good now. :(
It's all good because at least the price for the CompUSA deal is around the same as the Gamerush deal. One is good if you don't want to spend cash and the other is good if you have the cash for it.

I think, realistically, the best you'd end up with would be the $24.99, with a PM at time of purchase + GGC, though that would take a very easy-going customer service rep that would let you pull it off. $22.99 is do-able ($27.99 - $5 from GGC), though it's a much bigger longshot than the $24.99 ($29.99 - $5 from GGC), which itself is a longshot.

I'm just going to go to CC and deal with them there and get it for $27.99.

I'll probably do the same but at BB because I am going there already anyway.
I am unable to pick this up Sunday. Do you think there will still be copies left on Monday?
That depends on the store, but you should be able to find a copy on monday easily.
I am unable to pick this up Sunday. Do you think there will still be copies left on Monday?
how about picking it today, tomorrow, or sat? if i'm not mistaken compusa does the 30 day price guarantee thingie, and will adjust the price for you while the sale is live.

I guess Ill be doing that on monday.

I'm picking up this game for $28 at BB even though I'll probably end regretting it when my sealed copy is still unopened and the price drops.

You think Rockstar will package GTA:SA in a trilogy set soon?
Will this be avaliable on their website?
why dont you go to compusa.com and check?
or is your typin finger broke?

Well the sale doesn't start until Sunday.

"Will" implies this will be happening in the future, not right now.

29.99 you say, might be worth picking up. I have it on PS2 however does anyone think that the graphics and load times will be worth it. I have heard that the load times are somewhat faster. However I have heard nothing about graphics.
However I have heard nothing about graphics.
..have you bothered checking the XBox forum either here, GameFAQs, IGN, Gamespot, or ANYWHERE on the net?
The load times are almost nonexisitent on PC. The graphics are awesome, too.
Wouldn't it differ though depending on your CPU and ram?
anyone know if target will price match?

id rather drive 2 minutes than 20...hehe
dont think target price matches, at least from all the times i've been there they wouldnt

walmart might price match it and knock off a few bucks
i got wario ware twisted from a frys ad PM $25 knocked off $3
total was $23.64 and the game is great so far
so try wal-mart, i'm gonna price match at wal-mart and return my unopened copy back to best buy

No they do not price-match any longer.

There's still plenty of milking left to be done. I saw at Walmart the other day that GTA3 had made it into the budget boxes for $9.xx.

As for GTA:SA, I hope they still have it on Monday when I go (otherwise I'll try pricematching), because I was at my CompUSA on Tue. and they already had it on the shelves.
They don't.

I hate that I have to wait one more day when I have the ad in my possession. But, I will probably be at the store when it opens tomorrow to PM this at CC near me. I hate when I don't have extra cash to spend everything seems to be on sale that weekend and when I do have some extra cash I can't find anything on sale.

Theoretically, I'll end up with it for $22.99.

Bought it yesterday at BB for $44.99, $49.99 with a $5 RZ cert thrown in there (showed up in email yesterday).

PM should drop it down to $27.99 from $49.99, which nets it out to me at $22.99, and give me $22 + tax back from the transaction.

According to the CSR, the RZ cert shouldn't interfere with the PM down to $27.99 from $49.99, even though that it lists it on the receipt as $44.99 after $5 RZ cert.

I just wish that their registers would treat the RZ cert as payment instead of a pseudo-coupon. We'll see what happens.

Since you have it already, how does it compare to the PS2 version (assuming you have that one too). I wanna get this but not sure if I should waste another $30 on the same game.

I got Batman Begins for the PS2 at BB yesterday. So I am going to exchange it for the Xbox version. Should I have any trouble?

no

I'm assuming that im going to have to get there at the store's opening in order to score one of these...I hope I can stay motivated.

To people to who have both PS2 and Xbox versions of the game:

Is it worth buying the Xbox version even though I already own the PS2 version?

Probably not, the only new things are widescreen, 480p, and a replay feature. Not worth a re-buy IMO.
