It was noted in another thread that GTA: San Andreas will be 29.99 for Xbox and PC in the upcoming CompUSA ad for June 12th, by Showstoppa. He said he would get a scan of the ad soon, so I believe this is legit.

I belived a deal like this deserved it's own thread, since this is an awesome deal that got buried in a different deal thread.

If you pricematch it to CC or BB, that's an extra 10% making the game 27.99. I know I can wait that extra week for 22 dollars in savings.

Plus you gotta restart the entire game. Considering how large the game is, is that something you really want to do?
I got Batman Begins for the PS2 at BB yesterday. So I am going to exchange it for the Xbox version. Should I have any trouble?
You must have skills since it doesn't come out until the 15th.
Since you have it already, how does it compare to the PS2 version (assuming you have that one too). I wanna get this but not sure if I should waste another $30 on the same game.
I wasn't going to crack it out of the shrinkwrap until the PM was done, so I won't know until then.

Once I do, I'll post something about it.
no I just got really lucky and they had it. I also had the hand $5 off coupon for the PS2 game.
Then either you're lying or they are blowing the street date by nearly a week.
Oh, the deal is available online now.
Awesome. Are there any free shipping codes? The closest CompUSA's an hour away for me.
Theoretically, I'll end up with it for $22.99.

Bought it yesterday at BB for $44.99, $49.99 with a $5 RZ cert thrown in there (showed up in email yesterday).

PM should drop it down to $27.99 from $49.99, which nets it out to me at $22.99, and give me $22 + tax back from the transaction.

According to the CSR, the RZ cert shouldn't interfere with the PM down to $27.99 from $49.99, even though that it lists it on the receipt as $44.99 after $5 RZ cert.

I just wish that their registers would treat the RZ cert as payment instead of a pseudo-coupon. We'll see what happens.
Yeah, I hate how they handle the RZ cert . . . I asked about returns and they told me that you don't get the credit back. What they do is reissue the cert and send it to you in the mail . . .

It'll be interesting to see what they do in your case.

5.00 shipping if ordering online, making it $34.99 +tax (if any). Still not a bad deal for those that don't have a CompUSSR around.

i can confirm that the ad is in the sunday paper
i looked at 2 sunday papers the first one didnt have it in it and the second one did, so either someone took it or it was incomplete

I had the ad yesterday but that is because the newspaper in my area puts sunday ads in the saturday paper for subscribers.

I've printed out the scan of the ad, Compusa's page, and the fact that its listed instock at a store 30 miles from here . . .

Now to get BB, CC or Walmart to match it . . . fingers crossed.

I dumped my PS2 version a few months ago to get this one.

IF I take the ad to a BB or CC to price match, they automatically give 10% after the pricematch also or is that something you have to ask for? I've never pricematched at CC and BB has never done that for me.

CCity will, that's how they do it. Best buy, good luck. If you ask, they might. Or if you ask, they might say it's only if you buy it there,t hen find it cheaper and come back. I go to CCity now

This same shit happened to me.

Went through THREE mother fucking newspapers, not one of them had the damn ad.
I get this worthless piece of shit ad every other week, and the ONE WEEK I wanted it , it dosen't show up.

At BB you don't get the 10% if you purchase it and price match at the same time. So you have to purchase the game first, then go to CS and have them price match it for you.

Just scored an xbox version at compusa.
The way the employee looked at me when I asked him for it, you would of thought I asked them for a 300 baud modem.

I can just take my ad into Circuit City and get the games pricematched right? I dont want to have to goto CompUSA and buy it.

I just got back from the CompUSA in Jacksonville (on Southside). Looked like the only had about 10 copies for Xbox total. I was going to try to price match at Circuit City which is in the same area, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle to save $2 to have to wait 20 minutes for them to call the store and verify its in stock

So how does the Xbox version compare to the PS2 version graphically and control wise?

:EDIT: And everything else

I just picked this up from the store in Buckhead. I prefer avoiding CompUSA if at all possible - the employees don't seem to know (or care) much about anything.

I remember CompUSA having store ad's out in the store, so just grab one and show it to one of the employees. If they refuse then you can start as much shit as you want because it's clearly there in the ad.

I had no problem getting the price correct. It just took them 20 minutes to even locate a copy in the store. The manager tried to tell me that it was just released today and that's why they had no idea where it was.

Just scored 2 copies @ BestBuy, they called my local CompUSA and got the price from them. It took a little longer but I didn't have to find the Ad and there wasn't a "limit one per household" on it either.

Has anyone tried out the PC version? Just wondering how well it runs. My computer specs:

Athlon XP 1800+
512MB RAM
64MB Radeon 9000

Besides the video card (it calls for a 128MB card), I meet the recommended specs. Vice City ran pretty well for me, can I assume San Andreas will too?

I'm running it on a P4 2.1ghz, 512MB RAM, with a 64MB Geforce MX440. I have to run it on 800 x 600, though, otherwise the framerate is way too slow. The framerate drops when I've got a lot going on on the screen at once sometimes, but overall it runs pretty well for my specs.

I think you'll be ok, you'll likely just have to run the resolution low.

Picked up the PC version at noon. It was the last copy in the store an hour after they opened. Also, at 9:00 this morning, the PC version was sold out on CompUSSR's website. (looks like the Xbox version is gone too).

BTW, I love DVD games. No more disk swaps during install.

My god, how many times are you going to ask this!?! Read IGN! Read the San Andreas topic in the XBox board! Take some initiative and find out for yourself instead of asking the same question 2 or 3 days in a row!

I went to the Tacoma, WA compusa. The store opened at 10am and I got there at 10:15am. I couldn't find it on the shelf so I asked someone that worked there and she said that they only had 6 copies and she knew at least 3 had already been sold. I ended up getting the last copy though. So the Tacoma store is sold out already.

No one can answer this?
No one can answer this?
Generally, that is how it works. Some CC CSRs are sticklers for certain rules, so there may have to be a CompUSA within a certain radius of the CC, and the CSR may call CompUSA to make sure they have the game in stock.

whoo hoo! price compared at BB and got it for 20! (it also helped i had a 10 dollar reward zone gift certificate from buying the misses a Ipod a couple months ago). but somehow i dont think we can start listing cheapass deals with "first, but a 300 dollar mp3 player...."

Go to Circuity City. Find game on shelf. Take to register. They scan it. "I'm gonna price match that.."-you as you bring your ad out. Show them the ad. They look at it. They either A: type in price match or B: call a manager (who will price match it, sometimes if it's over X amount, maybe 20? they need the manager). Make sure they hit the "Ok" on the 2nd menu (Or just say "I get 10% the diff. too right?") cause then you'll get 2 extra bucks off.
Pay for game.

Leave.
Play game.

Argh. I hate playing PC games in low rez, but I guess playing SA in low rez is better than no SA at all.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Xbox/PC) $29.99 at Fry's Electronics until 6/14.

This was at my store (Palo Alto). Perhaps to match Compusa? Good deal, check out your Fry's if you can't find it, they usually have very good stock.

I spent way too much today...

I picked up GTA:SA for Xbox & PC at CompUSA Schaumburg, IL 15 min. after opening. The price is too damn good to pass up.
(Xbox for custom soundtracks & replay mode, PC for custom soundtracks, higher resolution, and a chance to test out a new joypad I ordered recently)

I only saw a slim handful of both versions on the shelf (GTA:SA for XB was actually on the "floor" of the game rack)

I also bought a copy of Medal of Honor: Eurpoean Assualt (XB) for 29.99 (8.1/10 by IGN).

Then I noticed something:

1 copy of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Limited Edition (Xbox).

I haven't seen this on a store shelf since the first few days of its release. I snagged it.

Needless to say, I have a lot of game time ahead of me, and my wallet is very thin. :)

PM'ed @ BB. I had used the GGC when I bought it on Friday, and somehow my price after PM was $25 (pre-tax)?! :whistle2:k

The only thing I can think of is that they allowed me to use $3.00 from the GGC - $28 post PM minus $3 GGC? I'm not complaining. :)

Thanks OP! :D

the only thing i can think of is they gave you 10% off the total original price ($50)... this happened to me one time when i PM (when it should have been 10% the difference).

I PM'd at CC for $27.99 with no problem at all. No calling CompUSA to check stock either. Apparantly one person had does this before me, so they already knew the drill. I also picked up NASCAR Sim Racing PC for $9.99.

same exact story at mine.

just walked in, grabbed an ad, they told me they sold out, weren't going to give me a raincheck, and that i'd have to wait til they scoured the entire store for the rest of the stock.

took the ad down the street to CC and got it for 27.99. the extra 10% off at least covered the gas it took to get down to Compusa and be disappointed.

good call - didn't think of that :)

Took my copy I picked up on Friday, and went to BB to PM it.

The rep at CS ended up pricematching it to $27.99, when the computer knocked another $2.20 off. I raised a question at the difference in what I was getting back, then she looked at the computer and saw what she did. She went back and did the same thing a second time, and couldn't fix it. She shrugged her shoulders and gave it to me for $25.79.

After my $5 RZ cert, I scored it for $20.79 + tax.

Doubt I'l find it for that price for quite some time.

PM'd at Best Buy this afternoon to get the Xbox version. The clerk did call but apparently CompUSA had it in stock and he approved it. Well worth the trip since I had a Best Buy giftcard.

Thanks for the info OP!

I had the same trouble others did when I tried to pick up an XBox copy at the local CompUSA (west side of Madison, WI). The rack was empty, so I asked a nearby employee. He said that he didn't think the XBox version was out yet, but he'd check the computer. He came back and said that they had none in stock.

I grabbed a copy of the ad and was on my way out the door (to see if I could get the nearby CC to pricematch) when I ran into a friend who told me to take the little paper price tag from the rack up to the information desk. The gentleman there punched in the item number and found that there were 5 copies in the back. He went and got one and I was set.

Oh, and thanks again Roufuss and Showstoppa for pointing this out.
