I really want to get into this game and unlock some of the bonuses for Guild Wars 2, but I'm having difficulty finding the game cheaper anywhere reputable. Also, some of my friends are saying that the unlocks are near impossible to do within the time left, so what do you all think? Should I invest $50 for the game or is there somewhere else that I can purchase from for less that is still trustworthy? I'll probably really enjoy the game regardless.

Useful information:

Location: Atlanta, GA.
Payment methods: Paypal, Amazon, credit cards, sex (will blow your mind for a cheap new copy of Guild Wars Trilogy & Eye of the North or at least the CD keys )

Guild Wars has never been particularly cheap. It's that whole free-to-play thing. Means they never discounted the game or expansions much.

Also, while it may not be impossible if you devote the next month straight to Guild Wars to get some unlocks, the stuff you have to do in Guild Wars to get the unlocks in Guild Wars 2 is not at all "quick and easy". It's difficult, particularly if playing solo, and time consuming. Enjoyable, though. I've always liked Guild Wars.

As someone who has played it casually since it came out and has multiple maxed characters, I'm not going to be getting anything significant in the way of unlocks, if that gives you any idea of how difficult it might be.

If you are the sort of person who can get a character to max level and raid-equipped in WoW within a month, you might have a chance to get some unlocks. If you can't, you probably can't.

You might still enjoy the game, though, and have plenty of time to enjoy the storyline (as long as you don't get sucked into arena fighting and not get around to the storyline). It's a good game, and a decent set of stories. And Guild Wars 2 will be a sequel, so knowing the prior storyline might be of some use. And from what I can tell, Guild Wars won't be shutting down anytime soon.

Thanks for the reply. I heard about how the unlocks take quite a while, which doesn't really scare me off. I think I'm going to give it a shot because even if I don't get any unlocks, I'm sure I'll have some fun. Now to just figure out the best place to purchase.
I would say your best bet is definately eBay. Just look for new sealed copies.
I've been checking ebay once in a while and the cheapest I've seen has been maybe a single dollar cheaper than a digital retailer like Steam or NCSoft's store.

At that level of savings, I'd rather just spend it through the official stores. The only ones I've found at reasonable discounts that I might want to take advantage of are from places I've never heard of before and am not sure of their quality.

Gamesrocket is legit and cheap to boot. Got all the expansions and the base game for $30 compared to $50 pretty much everywhere else! :)

Most retailers clearanced this game (and expansions) long ago. Your best bet is probably through the Guild Wars client itself.

Thanks for the info, but I already bought download keys for the Trilogy ($20) and Eye of the North ($10) from Gamesrocket for less than the official client's $30 and $20. They registered properly on NCsoft's website and all, so now I just need to play through with my friends. :)

Nice! If you want to play sometime let me know. I haven't been on in awhile and it'd be nice to hit some PvE with a real group of people before 2 launches.

I could have swore the official client had them marked down, but perhaps they marked them up with the pending release of GW2.
