Guitar Hero (Game + Controller) $50.00 @ Walmart *YMMV*

Gamerguy

CAGiversary!
I went to my local Wal*Mart Supercenter (Beach Blvd in Jacksonville FL) to get some pictures developed and passed by a display with about 30 or 40 Guitar Hero bundles. The sticker price still said $69.xx, but there was a pink sheet of paper on top of the display with a handwritten "$50.00." The $50 price is what came up at the register when I got it.

Good luck to anyone else looking. I tried doing a search to make sure this hasn't already been reported, but the search feature isn't working at all for me. >>;;

Oh man if this is going at all WalMarts I will definitely pick it up. Been holding out on this game for a while now. Anyone able to confirm this? My closest WalMart is about 20 miles away.

Wal-mart deals are almost always YMMV--I was by there yesterday (not for gaming reasons) and observed that the price of GH at my store is $59.xx

they had the same stand of guitar heros very similar to how you described at my wal mart. they must of had 50 of em. anyway the price said $70, but I saw no sign that said anything about bieng $50. I should of had it scanned.

Other people have reported getting the bundle for $35 at Wal-Mart a month ago, but at 99% of Wal-Mart stores this bundle is still full price. Unless your store has an ignorant manager that doesn't realize this game sells fine at full price, you're probably not going to luck out.

I picked one of these up for $35 on clearance at Meijer a couple of days ago. The box was sort of opened, but inside everything was pristine. I don't know if it was on clearance *because* the box was open, or if someone did it while it was on the clearance shelves. All the other clearance stuff seemed to be unopened. Anyway, I was happy. I wouldn't have picked up the game otherwise, but it's a lot of fun.

I picked one up at Kmart for $35. Tried to get another one at a different Kmart and it rang up full price. It definitely is a YMMV deal.

Weird, most K-Mart's are usually pretty standard across the board. I just saw one of these at K-Mart today, had no clue they even stocked the game, it might be worth going back to check it out if it will ring up $35.

I've been looking for another one at that price too. I may just buy it at a different store and see if I can get it adjusted at that particular store as that's probably the price that it would come out to be. I've been looking for another controller (even a used one would do) so that I can hack it to play wirelessly.
I know that EB/Gamestop didn't take them is as trade ins. Too bad.

i went to 2 walmarts in st. pete FL, one had them regularly priced, even had a display table at the front of the store. the other had them on sale for 60 on tyrone blvd.

My Wal-Mart *clearanced* them to $58.xx a few months ago. Ok I guess.

Completely unrelated, I went to Best Buy yesterday and in their overstock area they had at least 300 Guitar Hero bundles. The market is so saturated now that the price is gonna plummet soon enough. Probably right around Thanksgiving before Guitar Hero 2 comes out. If you don't already have it wait until you can get it for $50 or less.

Not to sound like a dick but I dont understand why people post Wal-Mart deals. Usually NOBODY will ever find the same deal in another store. This is more of a "bragging rights" kind of post.

This type of game tends to only sell well at Christmas...they might wait until after Christmas to clearance it out as they'll sell a ton at Christmas when people can't find Guitar Hero 2 (which will probably be rare this Christmas like Guitar Hero was last year).

I know Best Buy pretty much only sells DDR bundles at Christmast...I talked to the manager at the store closest to me and he said they don't have STOCK these bundled games at his store until Christmas. He said they consider them seasonal items.
