Guitar Hero question

I just bought the official wireless Guitar Hero 3 quitar for the PS3. I plugged it in and all seemed fine but when I tried to play the origianl GH for PS2 it did not work. Are the old titles not compatible on PS3 with the new quitar?

No guitar hero 1 and 2 do not work with the guitar on the PS3. You can play them with the controllers but that no fun.
