Guitar Hero wIII - Thread of Bitchin' Friend Codes and Killer Graphics

!!!

So... I get back to my (poopy) "hometown" and kick Strell's ass in Smash Bros for a while, and then I get home. My sister is all like "hey, you should open your present early - and I said "okay, fine." So, she gives me this large box, wrapped very neatly, and as I open it: BAM GHIII!!!

Man, this is -awesome- and I'm very happy that I got it!

I'll add everyone when I'm back in D-town where the internet is better, although I promised Daroga that I'll get my Wii online. In any case, I'll add my "bitchin' Friend Code" as soon as I'm good and ready. Let the Good Times Roll!
DLC, wut? When did they add Wii DLC?
LOL, yea sorry, no DLC on Wii yet, but aren't they supposed to add it? I thought that was the rumor.

Who is getting Guitar Hero III for Christmas?

Make sure if you are getting GHIII that you sign up for the official CAGs tour group! Here is the link to sign up:

CHEERS!

I dont know if anyone here knows, here is the number for the replacement disc to fix the mono sound 1866-780-8286. Call for more info. It would help if this was on the front page maybe.

You can also pre-register for replacement discs online:

http://www.activisiongameexchange.com/

Looks like we'll have to be without our GH3 disc for a while before we get the replacement:

Once the replacement discs are available, the replacement program will begin. We will send you a disc replacement package which will consist of exchange instructions, a replacement disc claim form, and a postage paid envelope for you to return your current copy of the Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Once you receive your package, please complete the claim form and return your original game as directed. Once we receive your game, we will mail you the free replacement disc.

Ugh. That replacement program still makes me nervous. My GH3 disc'll get lost on the way to them or the replacement will get all scratched up in transit.

Why, yes, I am a pessimist. Why do you ask?

Did you make that tag in your signature?
Did you make that tag in your signature?
Yeah, it's a PHP script I cobbled together over the last few days using the info from the GH site XML feed. I'm kinda testing it out right now. Should update as your latest performance stats update on the site.

Here's some of the profiles I ran through it last night to test it out.

They look sweet. I'd want one but well I'm only good at easy so I'm not sure I'd want to broadcast that on a daily basis lol
They look sweet.
Thanks. :) The background and character graphics are dynamic as well...shows the last venue and character played.
I'd want one but well I'm only good at easy so I'm not sure I'd want to broadcast that on a daily basis lol
Well...I'm not too keen on displaying my stats, either. I was just writing the tag script to see if I could figure out how to do it.

Apparently, the official word is that the XML feeds I'm pulling only update every 6 hours. So they're not exactly up-to-the-minute stats, unfortunately.

Our store finally recieved some Wii GH3 bundles after being out of stock for almost a month. It looks like the Dolby Pro Logic II graphic has been removed.

Which one should I get it for GH 3? The old or the new?

So... they fixed the issue by removing the DPLII graphic so they aren't falsley advertising, rather than fixing the game audio, or are they just adding confusion/pushing out the rest of their borked disc stock? Brilliant. I've never really cared about the issue, but I suppose I should put in my registration for the fixed disc.

Put that link in the OP.
Can you get downloadable songs for guitar hero? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to this.
Not yet but they claim to be working on it.

Looks like we will be SOL of playing our games while we wait for the replacement. Just got this e-mail

"We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the status of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Wii replacement discs. The game has been approved by Nintendo and is currently in manufacturing. We expect to have the replacement discs available in February. Once we have the discs, we will contact you and then proactively send you a prepaid return envelop with a game exchange claim form. You should return the completed form with your current copy of the game. Once we receive a completed claim form and game, we will send you the replacement disc. We thank you for your patience and support."

So you do have to send your game in and wait for them to send you a fixed one back. At least it's getting fixed.

Hmm... that's kind of a pain. You'd think they'd take a CC deposit or something in lieu of returning the game first.

Wonder how long it will take them to turn around and ship the replacement disks?

The best part of that email, they just sent it to: everybody and didn't BCC: it, so now I've got the emails of most of the people who bought GH3 for wii!

I would absolutely insist on them sending the game first. It's their error.
Hell the old disc is a worthless piece of garbage and should be just thrown away.

WOW!!!!! That's so unprofessional my head is spinning! Where did that email come from?
As if the original problem wasn't unprofessional enough, I guess they had to prove it wasn't an isolated incident....
They could probably actually get sued for that as it's a breach of their customer's privacy.... How many email addresses?
Does the wii have a hard drive? Or will it store it on an SD card.
The Wii has a hard drive but it's very small. 512? I might be way off

Anyone know if they will have a web form to fill out when the replacement discs are ready? Or do I need to call?
There's a web form, cause that's what I used. couldn't tell you where it is though
Thanks, you prompted me to do a little googling and found this.

So is anybody still playing this? The CAG forum over at GH.com don't seem to be getting much action.

I've resorted to just waiting to get matched with random strangers and the occasional player from the GH forums.
The Wii has a hard drive but it's very small. 512? I might be way off
It's flash memory, rather than hard drive. It is 512MB I believe, but of course not all of it is usable since it has the OS and channels etc. on it already.
Just got a replacement disk mailer. 3-4 weeks for replacement.
 Seriously?

I'm getting the 360 version from a freebie site and was gonig to replace my disc before loading this on to eBay, but 3-4 weeks? God damn. Really disappointed that it even happened, that it took so long to rememdy, and that the rememdy process seems to suck.
Just got a replacement disk mailer. 3-4 weeks for replacement.
Bout freakin time - but 3 to 4 weeks! come on

Jeez, 3-4 weeks is insane. Surely they should have everything organized so that when they receive you disc the replacement gets mailed the same day. That's pretty poor form.

Makes me glad that I bought a second bundle a couple of months ago. At least if I replace them one at a time I won't miss out on playing for a month.
You can check the status of your envelope here
Thanks for that link! It says my envelope was mailed out on the 11th.

Freaking ridiculous. 3-4 weeks? Between this and the $60 pricing for extra guitar controllers (that require my $40 remote to work), I'm starting to wish I purchased the 360 version.

I'm curious as to why you went with the Wii version in the first place if you have a 360?

It's great for people who only have the Wii, but it would seem that 720p (less lag on HDTVs), downloadable content, and the pricing you mention would make the 360 version the better choice of the two for those of us who own both consoles.

Yea, Activision's handling of the pricing and customer service for this round of GH's screams greedy, uncaring corporation.

Ill send out my disk once Brawl comes in. That plus finals week, and then spring break should be long enough.

I filled out the form just now, didn't even realize they were starting to send these out. 3-4 weeks is an absurd wait considering that this is a problem that was discovered months ago. Oh well, at least some good games have come out for me to occupy my time with, and when SSBB is out, I won't really care anymore.

What seems more ridiculous to me is the pricing for the extra guitars. It just doesn't make sense. I highly doubt that when they start selling the game individually (I imagine they would when they get those 1st & 3rd party guitars out) it'll cost less than $50 like the pricing of the bundle compared to the individual guitar would suggest. The 3rd parties should just release their guitars for $20 just to undercut RO/Activision.

Man, they really fucked up on this one.

If it's like it's been on other consoles, I don't think they got game only versions until a Second GH game was out in a bundle. It makes sense at that time as people who only want one guitar and buy the new game in a bundle would only be interested in buying a game only version of the previous games.

Now that I think about it, that's true. With the obvious exception of the overpriced Rocks the 80's. Did that ever sell in an official bundle?
I'm curious as to why you went with the Wii version in the first place if you have a 360?
The 360 stays put in my media room. The Wii is normally hooked up to the plasma in the living room, and since the appeal of GH to me is primarily social, I went with the Wii version.

It's been the right choice in that regard - we've had a group of friends over a few times since I got the game at Christmas, and as a party game it's a hit.

I'm just a bit miffed at the way they're handling the Wii version.

Just got my envelope today. I really hate the way Activision is handling this replacement program. They couldn't even bother to send an envelope that had some form of a tracking number on it?? All it is is a media mailer with a $1 stamp and their address on it.

I'd have no problem mailing out my old disc this way if I already got a replacement in advance because then I wouldn't really care if my old one gets lost on the way to them.

Like Lan_Zer0 said, I'll wait until I have SSBB before I mail out my GH disc.
