Guitar Hero wIII - Thread of Bitchin' Friend Codes and Killer Graphics
Blah on Aerosmith - I'm still waiting for U2 Guitar Hero. Then I'll bite.
Meanwhile, I'm fairly excited. Lots of bashing on Kotaku from people I can only assume are much younger than me and/or have no different taste.

I said it there, and I'll say it here. I want Guitar Hero: Mötley Crüe.

I have nothing against Aerosmith. I just remember seeing something on Joystiq about a possible U2 GH and my head exploded is all.

Yesterday I received the envelope and form from Activision to mail back my disk for the replacement. I filled it all out and brought it to the post office today to send it out. On a whim I decided to make sure that they had slapped enough postage on the prepaid envelope they sent out to me. Sure enough, the woman working behind the counter informed me that the dollar postage would not be enough and it required another 30 cents. I'm not sure if she was inflating the postage unnecessarily but I figured it's only 30 cents and better to be safe then sorry. Just wanted to get the word out to my fellow CAG's in case they screwed this up.

The one dollar postage should be more than enough; however, I agree with the "better safe than sorry" approach.

Nonetheless, keep us up to date on how long it takes you to get a replacement back. It sounds like it could take up to two months, if you're factoring time of delivery to, put into the system, processing, and shipping replacement back to you. So any actual data would be nice before I decide whether or not to ship it back.

They're making you guys pay the postage? Jeez... you'd think they would cover that seeing as how they've raked in millions from the game and knowingly lied about the audio format.

Yeah, that seems really strange, especially considering that they're even going through the effort of mailing envelopes out to people.

Yea I figured a dollar was enough too, I was just checking to be sure. The woman at the counter asked a coworker if the mail was considered a "flat" or not and the other postal worker agreed that it would need more postage. After the email fiasco I figured anything was possible.

Also I'm not worried about the shipping time as I'm one of the suckers that bought 2 bundles so I could play with my girlfriend and others but I'll post when I receive my replacement. If I remember correctly the form said something like 4-6 weeks.

Its complete bullshit that you have to return the defective disc first, pay postage on it.

They should do what lots of other replacement plans do, send a replacement disc with a prepaid return envelope, and take your credit card number. If they dont receive the defective disc back from you by whenever, they charge your card the cost of the replacement they sent you.

Has anyone checked this out yet:

The form is down right now, probably because this popped up on SlickDeals, but it looks like they will pay you over $100 plus shipping costs if you send your game and controller to them. If someone really wanted to and this is true, you could rebuy the game once remastered discs are included and make a little profit. Too much work for me though.

Even though it seems like everyone is trying to figure out how to ditch their GHIII for Wii (except for us poor and friendless people who can't afford Rock Band when it comes out)

Gamestop has extra controllers finally listed in their ad

Cool - thanks! I guess I kind of understand why people want to dump their GHIII, but I'm keeping mine. I'm bad enough at it that it's still fun when I pick it up and stumble through intermediate songs.

this is a bit of a strange question...but is there a way to make the Wii GHIII guitar strum bar not 'click' when, well, strumming? it just seems like there should be a way to silence that little bugger without causing detriment to the guitar itself.

any info or input is helpful...

Not sure why my other thread was closed as it wasn't out of hand or off-topic.

Anyway, I picked up GH3 today and it has the star right above Activision on the CD. I heard this means it does have stereo sound, which is a good sign for anyone looking to buy GH3 at retail.

Finally picked up a second bundle last night. Wife and I played co-op for about 3 hours, cleared medium. Going to go back through with switched roles (I was playing lead) and then move on to hard.

And now we have a spare disc and can send off our original for replacement. :)

Did anyone else who sent in their orginal disc to get the surround sound replacement disc receive a free faceplate for their guitar?

I received a fire/phoenix faceplate in the mail yesterday, completely unexpected, but a nice little surprise. Activision sent a note with the package that thanked me for my patience when I sent in my disc, which I got back a week earlier.

So this makes total sense. We had a major lag problem when we bought our new TV. We tried everything and then magically one day the lucky number lag fix everyone else used started working (31 or 32ms I think).

Now we just bought a new guitar and the lag is back again - on both single and multiplayer! A restart and everything is back to normal. WTF Guitar Hero lol

is anyone good on guitar hero? I just played my first game and i totally sucked. ive played real guitar for 10 years and i didnt think i was going to suck that bad. playing on the hardest level using all five fret buttons seems impossible

I can't even do Medium (the blue button just ain't happening for me). But I rock on Easy and I love it, so no shame here.

I too am horrible at pretty much evrything but easy. I love easy, and can 100% a pretty good portion of the songs. Medium is not so good for me. There are more notes though, so even though I screw up a lot I can get decent percentages on some songs. Not many though.

ok, well i feel a little better. i started on medium and doing ok, hitting 90 percent accr.

but the tom morello boss battle is a pain, how the heck do you beat the boss.

I did much better on Medium when I picked it up randomly a few weeks ago. Got 80-some percent on the one song I did. But Easy is my home.

Sent my old bundle in for a refund since I got in on the sick Amazon deal. Might actually start playing again since I have few games available to me while packing.

I did the same thing you did with the Amazon deal - you already got yours then? My tracking info has the package bouncing around various parts of PA still. Kind of annoying, but I guess I'm not in a hurry. Although we just moved and for the first time are in a house where the wires for the surround speakers are already embedded in the walls and there were speaker mounts in place, so I'm excited to start playing more.

GH3 is gonna cost me like $8 out of pocket now.
