I just got Time Crisis 3 for my ps2 and along with a couple of guncon2s. The game is quite fun, but I'm disappointed to discover that not only is the remaining light gun collection for ps2 quite limited, and most of them have terrible reviews. I would like to get Point Blank 2 from the psx days, but sadly it is not compatible with the guncon2!

What do you guys suggest? I figure I could try down a pair of guncon1s and PB2, but that is hardly ideal. I see that Japan got the "Gunvari collection" which contains PBs 1-3 and Time Crisis, all compatible with GC2. But I believe it's pretty rare, and I would have to mod my ps2 to play a japanese game, right?

Any ideas? I enjoy time crisis 3 and will pick up 2 soon, but I think it'd be fun to play a more "game-based" light gun game (like Point Blank) after completing the on-rails Time Crisis games.

Yeah, it's a import game so you would need swap magic, flip top, or mod your PS2. I have Gunvari Collection too, it was tough to find. If you eventually get the PS2 to play imports, I can sell you it.

If you're not good at soldering, I would suggest the swap disc and either a flip top or a slide tool. There is also a Virtua Cop collection for Japanese PS2, but I forget its name.

Resident Evil: Dead Aim and Dino Stalker were pretty interesting, I thought.

more Guncon2 games, Endgame, Starsky & Hutch, Vampire Night. Other imports Virtua Cop Rebirth (JP)/Virtua Cop Elite Edition (UK), Gunfighter II (EU), . Police 24/7 (UK)/Keisatsukan, The (JP), Resident Evil Survivor 2 Code Veronica(UK)/Gun Survivor 2 Biohazard Code Veronica (JP).

Light gun games tend to get bad reviews so don't go soley by them. Vampire Night and Ninja Assault are great games that got horrible reviews, but you wouldn't know unless you played them.

BTW, I'm still waiting for a House of the Dead compilation for PS2

Hopefully someone will read this, or I might have to start a new thread. Do any of you know if the PS2 gun games allow a single player to use two guns (or at least have single-screen multiplayer)? I used to love going to the arcade and playing Area 51 John Woo-style. :)

I'm waiting for Virtua Cop 3! Nothing beats slowing time down so you can shoot bullets out of the air.

Ninja Assault and Vampire Night both allow two players on the same screen. Vampire Night was co-developed by Sega and actually feels a lot like a House of the Dead game. Each gun will be a different "player" and therefore has its own life meter. Time Crisis 2 has an unlockable true dual gun mode for a single player. This game more than any other makes you feel like Chow Yun-Fat.

Virtua Cop Rebirth should as well, but that's import only. Endgame might also, but I'm not sure.

Oh hell yeah. I was waiting to get bored of TC3 to pick up 2, but that's reason enough to grab it on the way home today. :) Time crisis 3 doesn't have that mode?

How does the dual-gun mode handle reloading?

I haven't finished TC3 personally, but other users have stated it does not. It makes sense, though, considering TC3 gunswitching mechanic makes it a bit complicated if you're wielding two guns at once. Aside from dual gun mode, I found the Special Stage in Time Crisis 1 for PS1 (the hotel stage) to feel the most like a Hong Kong movie.

I think the same as single gun. You still have to press or release a button to duck/reload (although for obvious reasons pressing it is much easier when you're using two guns). I do remember I used to reload by pressing the d-pad below the hammer (well, where a hammer would go typically on a real gun). It works out okay since you have twice as many bullets per reload. You could also just press the butt of the grip to reload as well, similar to how you might do it in real life.
