Ashlee (?) Simpson misses her cue and walks out on the performance.

I thought even lip-synchers could sing their own songs a little bit, but to just walk out and not even try to catch up. Embarassing.

I wonder if they'll leave it in or edit in the dress rehearsal performance when it starts hitting the later time zones.

Switching between ESPN and SNL. Good thing I switched to SNL at that moment. Nice excuse there, though. Good stuff.

Oh, and you'll have to suffer through the first half of the show to see this "performance". It's her second set. She does this "dance" and completely forgets.
 
didnt even think of that WSB.. i do have a feeling this is one of those rare moments you wont see again though.. so if anyone on the later time zones has a tape ready.. i would record it!

No they weren't. She already played that song earlier in the evening. They were supposed to be playing a different song. Seems they had the wrong music AND vocals queued. The band just played along after they realized what happened. Ashlee walked off the stage.
 
This is actually the first time I've seen Ashlee Simpson do her songs or anywhere. Usually it's just a picture of her face or something, but what look is she going for?

I thought that punk/sk8r girl look was already being done by Avril Lavigne?

So she was lip-synching to the wrong vocal track? I turned it to SNL right when this was happening and she was hopping around on stage looking confused and then walked off. I thought her mic was busted.

Jesus, why can't she just sing live like all other legit performers? That way, she would have looked less like an ass and just sang the same song twice. All of her crappy songs sound the same anyway, so nobody would have noticed.

yeah, as previously stated, they started playing the pre-recorded vocals for the first song she "sang" on the show when they were supposed to be doing a second, completely different song, which is what caused the whole debacle.

the best part of the whole thing was the look on the faces of the guys in her band. it was something between "that's what she gets for lip synching, i hate her" and "this backing up ashley simpson thing just keeps getting worse. i wish i was dead."
 
Oh wow, thanks for the clip. Its so fucked up how she just walks off the stage and leaves her band hanging while they just look at each other, smile, and continue. Why not just continue the song with the crew?

DTW posted one earlier in the thread too, though it craps out for me 15 seconds before it says the total time is. Either way you get the idea...she's already long offstage by then.
 
That was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. I hope this creates a backlash against all the lip synching pop musicians. Isn't this what killed Milli Vanilli? I am going to show this to all the pop loving girls I know.

I commend the band for continuing. They all just looked at each other, said fuck it, and kept playing. Awesome.
 
haha you would think it would only be funny the first time you see it.. but nope, its fucking hilarious every time i watch her TRY and play it off.. haha wow..
 
They showed it on the west coast, but they edited her pre-recorded lyrics out. So she just ends up dancing around and looking stupid.
 
It's official, it was NOT edited out from the later time zone showings. Here in L.A. we got the clip BUT it sounds like the lowered the initial voice track where she is singing the same song so that it is not immediately obvious that she was lip synching.

You can't do Weekend Update without Jimmy Fallon? He is by far the worst person that has ever done weekend update (save for maybe Dennis Miller and Colin Quinn). He can't make it through a single joke without laughing. all I know is I am glad he isn't on SNL anymore. It means it will only be 6 months until America forgets about him.
 
 
Doesn't she know she's supposed to knock over the mic stand and then break into '(Whats So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding?' That is the tradition for flubbed song openings on SNL.

On the contrary my friend Tromack, with an Oscar caliber performance in the world wide hit movie Taxi, America shall forget him in about 1-2 months, if not already.

Well, I know Taxi flopped, but I think it made him last just a bit longer. I would have given him 3 months, but then it came out. I doubt he'll get another movie. But it will still take 6 months until people say, "Hey, whatever happened to Jimmy Fallon. Oh well, he sucked anyway."

First off, I can't blame her for not wanting to sing the same song she sang earlier in the night. That was just a mistake on SNL's end (but is also an example why lipsynching can result in humiliation). I really wish I was watching it when it happened, but I was out getting drunk and flirting with females.


The only think I dont get was why she was dancing like a mentally challenged monkey.

I agree that Colin Quinn was one of the worst Weekend Update anchors, but Dennis Miller? He was absolutely one of the best (along with Chevy, Norm). In fact, he was the only reason to watch SNL during the debacle know as the 1985 season (the one with Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Downey, Randy Quaid).

That's one of the newest style of hip-hop dances I've seen in competition clips online. Done right it's supposed to look like your body has no bones in it and the joints of the body jerk the rest of it around.Of course, she had absolutely no idea what she was doing, but sadly, it is considered a legitimate dance form :whistle2:(

Messes up her lipsinking and blames it on the band who actually bother to play there instruments, I'm sure they could just fake it to but by actually doing something they get shafted, well isn't that nice :evil:
 
The ONLY reason why I would watch SNL is becuz of Weekend Update. I actually thought Colin Quinn was good. Tina Faye is good too imo, but that guy jimmy does suck. SNL imo is stupid, they aren't funny. They seem to laugh at their own jokes alot. Worse person in there has got to be that guy that plays Mango.

MadTV is 100 times better than SNL.
