I just picked this up for the hell of it. After installing it, I see that there's no original Half Life included with it and Day of Defeat Source isn't included either.

Is this new? I thought Half Life was included on most/all Half Life 2 accounts. Not to mention, I thought that DoD Source was supposed to be included with HL2, HL Source and CS Source.

Did Valve decide to be even larger dicks?

I'm aware of what it says on the box, however, I don't remember any HL2 set stating that HL came with it, but most of the steam accounts I saw had HL on the list, short of my own. This includes two friends' accounts and 2 cafe/store places that had games on their computers.

Are you saying that no HL2 purchase came with HL? That you had to buy it seperately or part of the gold package?
 
HALF LIFE 2 GOTY EDITION DOES NOT COME WITH HALF LIFE/DAY OF DEFEAT/ANY OF VALVE'S OLD GAMES. Now that we have that said, only the collectors edition has Half Life Source/CS Source. If you want Valve's backlog, you can either purchase it in store and enter the CD Key on Steam or you can buy one of Valve's online packages, most (if not all) include Valve's entire backlog.
 
There is a HL Collector's edition out, or if you poke around a bit, you can probably find either of the Platinum Collections out, which should contain the following games:

Half-Life (original edition. I don't know if Steam will patch original HL to HL: Source.
Team Fortress Classic
Counter-Strike
Blue Shift
Opposing Force

You might want to try either gogamer.com or overstock.com.
