Half-Life 2 - The Orange Box

I just received this recently. PSN name qig
I'll play occasionally, but I have so many new (to me) games now I'm all over the place with them in any given day.

Hey everyone. I'm the CAG PSN Gaming Group coordinator here. A few people told me they would love to have some CAG TF2. Now, I do not own the game and I'm not sure how the online works, but if anyone would be interested in a TF2 night, say so in this thread (because I want to see a show of hands as to who is interested). If there is enough interests, I will dedicate a time slot as a CAG night. My new goal is to get many games involved. Also, I will see who is interested in administering it.

I've been playing this game on PS3 myself ever since I picked it up from Target (25$ after coupon) I don't have 360 or a decent PC so this was pretty much my only choice. That being said its great so far. I'm still playing HL2 and it runs smooth most of the time. Frame rate does hiccup once in a while, but that hasn't bothered me much. I did have one lockup though, when I was loading a level on Portal it got stuck on the loading screen. Another time I got stuck in some terrain in HL2 and had to suicide. Pretty annoying but hasn't happened enough to really frustrate me and I'm pretty far into HL2 now.

Definitely pick this game up if you can find it for 30 or less. It's even a great value at 50$ with all the games you get, but this is CAG isn't it? Hope to see you all online soon; I might hop on once I hone my fps skills a bit more.

I inherited this game recently from my brother who decided to buy the PC version since I own the PS3 and moved out (with my PS3 of course).

I would be game to try this out. I have never played it, ever. Nor have I played an online game since Quake, the first, on a PC no less. The closest thing to a first person shooter that I have played since Quake was... Drake, if that counts?

I'll post again, if people would really like a TF2 night, I need to hear from someone who would be interesting in leading a TF2 night. From there, I'd have them setup a TF2 night thread, along with instructions on how to get into a game with other CAGs (like do you have to be on someone's friends list, find a particular server, etc.).

I just got this yesterday since targe had it for a dirt cheap $14.98.

I need to learn TF2 anyway >_<

also playing through portal, finally.... took me long enough.

oh and yes, I'm interested in a game night, though I think I'm not great at it.

Same here, I just got it and I would be interested in playing around 10 or 11 EST

I've been playing Team Fortress 2 for about a week now, and earlier today I got a message saying "No servers found" when I try to connect. The internet connection is fine and I've tried almost everything I can think of to fix it. I can't find any information relating to this besides the friend list error (don't currently have this problem). Does anyone have any information that would be helpful in resolving this? Thanks in advance!

I just picked this game up for $29... and can't put it down. I must say that I was worried after hearing about all the negativity. I am half way through The first HL2, and while there are instances where it is not silky smooth, it is never an issue, and shouldn't prevent people from buying the game (IMHO).

Are the other episodes more problematic? Or are they all as good as the first one?

Especially now that it is a bargain price, it is fantastic value. Almost done portal, and have not tried TF2.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, just wanted to be on record stating that it is fine.

The part that is the most problematic is at the end of Episode 2 although it still isn't unplayable. Given how much cheaper the PS3 version is compared to the 360 port, if you can't get this on computer, PS3 is a fine choice.

I played HL2 for the second time. This time around I'm really noticing some dated gameplay design, it just feels like Valve pushed the platforming aspect of the game a bit too much. I often feel like they force you to move around unnaturally to get to the goal. And loading is beyond annoying. Not a bad game though, it just has that weird pc game feel.

Portal on the other hand is pure genius. Loving every bit of it for the most part.

Anyone playing TF2?

Sometimes the server goes down, but for the most part the online play is great. I haven't really experienced any serious lag or anything. And boy do I love the artstyle!

The only thing that I can really say that annoys me about the Orange Box is that I keep getting this crackling sound. I'm not sure if it's my ps3's fault, the game's fault in general, or I just got a bad copy.

In case that sounded too negative, I feel like I got a good deal!

I can easily answer this.

Yes there's still a lot of dedicated players. And for the most part it's always easy to find a game "if you like 2fort or Dustbowl" However finding a game on any other level is a far harder thing to do. So I always use Well for CAG nights since most people never play Well, Gravel Pit, Hydro.

Dang.. I was just searching this thread to see if I was the only one this was happening to. I thought it might have had something to do with the voice chat while I was playing TF last night, but I switched over to Portal and had it going on too. Valve really handed us PS3 owners a shit sandwich with the way 'they' released this game. I would have been happier with a PSN TF2 downloaded and a shred of support after release.
