Same price ($9.95), which one to get?

The Source edition:
Winner of over 50 Game of the Year awards, Half-Life set new standards for action games when it was released in 1998. Half-Life: Source is a digitally remastered version of the critically acclaimed and best selling PC game, enhanced via Source technology to include physics simulation, enhanced effects, and more.

The Original edition: Named Game of the Year by over 50 publications, Valve's debut title blends action and adventure with award-winning technology to create a frighteningly realistic world where players must think to survive. Also includes an exciting multiplayer mode that allows you to play against friends and enemies around the world.

Which one would you get?

The source version, duh. Why wouldn't I?

Hey, here's Fable. And here's Fable with extra chapters, more equipment, and generally overall better. They're both $19.99. Decisions, decisions.

This shouldn't be something you should think about. This is a no-brainer. Stubbs the Zombie wouldn't even need to debate. Get the Source version.

I wouldnt consider it that obvious of a choice. There the matter of gameplay, when you add a huge factor like physics to a game it tends to change the gameplay alot. You don't get to play the game in its original form, not that it is nessarliy bad.

Personally I would get the Source version any way becuase I can't stand ugly 3D graphics in a FPS.

I was just worried if the source thing will make the Gameplay too much different (good use of english) from the Award winning original one, but then again, It is enhanced. Then again then again, I could just get both.

if you want both get the silver pakage of half-life 2 it comes with both.

Edit:nevermind they changed the pakages.

uhhh the game play is not changed at all, the physics are simply for like the ragdoll stuff and maybe boxes, i tried it out and it was pretty much same thing but with ragdolls and prettier water.

Thank you for the info:D

Go check Targets for the platinum collection of Half Life. A lot of places have it on clearance and for only a few dollars more you could have Opposing Force, Blue Shift ,CS, and TFC along with half life.

The differences are not all that major from what I have seen from screenshots and what people have said.

If you are looking for a total conversion onto the source engine, these people are making a redone version of the original

If all your wanting to do is play the Single Player of Halflife, might as well get Halflife source. If you want to play some of the classic mods/ user-made single player mission packs (and there are tons of great ones) which have not yet been ported to source (or will never be ported to source) get the original verson.

Thanks a bunch, Ill be getting that when it comes out...

As for HL2, Ill be buying the Platinum Pack come next month

Half Life source was a major disappointment. Instead of Valve working on addon for HL2 I wish they would remake HL correctly.

I already have HL2 and source and etc. I just want to play HL, no mods etc. If HL sourc kills the fun of HL i will get the original.

Why would they remake HL1? It's just HL with Source applied. The water looks severely out of place in it (it looks great while every other texture is meh).. other than that, like the guy above said, the changes are just cosmetic.. rag doll physics and water are pretty much the only difference.. Source makes it funner when you pin people to the wall with the crossbow :)

??? Source yes or Source no?

Halflife Source doesn't include the Hi-Def texture pack that was released, vastly improving the look of characters and enemies. I'll take better-looking characters over ragdoll.
