I got an email with these Half Price Books coupons celebrating a new location this weekend in OKC.

These coupons are good at every Half Price Books!

This is a great opportunity to pick up some cheap games, movies, strategy guides, etc.

Half Price Books is based out of the Dallas area but they have locations around the U.S. Check out the store locator to find your nearest location: http://halfpricebooks.com/find_a_store.html

Half Price Books usually sells USED items. I have seen every kind of video game from Atari 2600 to PS3, Xbox360, etc. HPB also carries new "closeout" computer games. You never know what you are going to find. It is also a great place to pick up old game guides.

I am weary about this one, not that its not valid but that it wont work in all stores. It may say all stores but I think im going to call one locally and see if they have heard about it first before getting too excited.

Thank you. Please report back.
Time for more comics! lets hope this works.
I went to one of these stores for the first time last week and all comics were $1. On their sign above the register it said all comics are half of cover price, so my comic should have been .50. Does anyone know if they are $1 chainwide or are they typically half of cover price?

Yeah, don't count on any rules like that for comics. They will claim an exception for anything worth more.

HPB is an excellent chain. I shop there a lot. Thanks for the coupon, TC!

Half Price Books Hi Slappybob, the coupons are for the celebration of our newest store in OKC, so they are only good at our OK locations. Are you signed up for our mailing list in order to receive coupons like these for your local stores? If not, you can do that here:http://www.ilovehalfpricebooks.com/signup.mpl. Thanks!

From their Facebook page.

I haven't had a chance to call a local store and I have an email in to their website. So far not looking good.

Probably meant half off cover price unless otherwise marked. The store gets its name because it charges half the price on a book's cover.

Their website shows one other store in all of Oklahoma (same city as the new store). You would have thought that would have added the state to the coupon.

Since no one else has said anything I wanted to let people know that my store in Madison, WI took the 40% coupon today.

My wife ended up picking up Heavy Rain for $18 ^_^

I just got back from HPB in Seattle, WA and the coupon worked perfectly, thanks OP!

Good bump!

It's worth noting that these coupons, while similar to previous ones, are actually superior if you live outside OK. Why? Because nobody knows about them!

During prior coupon events, the stores got mobbed and cleaned out. But the stores here were shocked when I used these coupons. They never gave me a hard time, but they did say, "You're the first to use these!" :D

to 4tygames, thanks for posting the coupons!

I'm going to visit my local HPB tomorrow and see if there is anything worth picking up :D

going to try this in a little bit. Actually excited about the prospects since, as someone else pointed out, unlike the national coupons, very few people probably got this email.

Success! Ended up buying Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for like $6. I know that isn't a super amazing deal, but I've wanted the game and this way no shipping crap. Might go back later to grab Fable II for $5 or Modern Warfare 2 for $10.

No problems using the coupon at Northtown store in Minnesota. Unfortunately the Sega Saturn system was gone. Settled for "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader" HC for $6.48. Thanks for the post.

If anyone's looking for it, the HPB on Campbell and I-75 in Richardson, TX has FF 7 (Black Label) for $40. $20 after coupon. Just a heads up for anyone in the area.

I finally live in the same state as an HPB, but its about one to two hours away. Is it worth driving that far for one of these stores?

Just for reference, the location would be the Berkeley,CA location.

Maybe you could call ahead and ask an employee to check a particular section (i.e., non-sports 360 games)? CAGs aren't supposed to call ahead, but maybe it's safe enough in this case since the coupon seems pretty low-key.

Went to my local store to use the coupon today but I couldn't find anything worthwhile. :(
My dad got a book with the 50% off coupon though, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

ended up going back and getting Modern Warfare 2 as well, so in total got Ultimate Alliance 2 and MW 2 for a whopping $17 total. Not bad. Thanks OP!

Used the coupon at the Frisco, TX location today. I found a xbox360 LEGO Indiana Jones / Kung Fu Panda combo disc marked at $4.98. Part of the sticker was torn off, so it was probably supposed to be $14.98. So, I took it to the employees in the back and they confirmred that it was supposed to be $4.98 (probably because they didn't have time to look it up and they didn't really care). So, at 50% off, I got two 360 games for only $2.70!! Great deal! Thanks!!!!

Picked up several good books this week (thanks, OP!) but scored a nice little game just today. Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, in fantastic shape, plus a mint copy of the strategy guide, all for about $12.15. :D
