Halo 2.5 really is coming
Im sure the Xbox 2 will be powerful enough to emulate the Xbox. Besides, if the Xbox 2 is backwards compatable then they will continue to sell tons of copies of Halo 2, which will make Microsoft very happy.
The problem is the change in chip manufacturers. I think they may need to get rights or something from nVidia to make their new ATI chipset emulate the NV3A (I think that's the GPU in the XB at least), which nVidia probably wouldn't want them to do, since nVidia was a little sour about MS not selecting them to produce the XB2's GPU

I played Halo 2 during the FFXI downtimes or when people come over and demand to play Halo 2. I have to say... I really dont like the game that much... and probally for all the reasons you all have read before (thus no need to mention them... and kick the dead horse). The idea of a Halo 2.5 is brilliant from a money making standpoint. Further, making 2.5 another cliff hanger (would be frickin annoying) but allow for further iterations of the game, and make MS/Bungie more money. I have read about a possible directors cut; however, I have no intention of buying it... or Halo 3 for that matter. I will simply rent them. As for online... it is totally not fun to have a poor connection lead to a massive owning. So, I kinda stopped playing online too. I have really become unsatisfied with XBL. Sorry so long... just my 2 cents.

The solution to your problem is for you to get a better connection.

Simple, really.

I don't know why you would lag if you have broadband. 1 night and I mean one night I had two straight games of lag and that has been it. I play quite a bit too. You can't let the quality of your internet dictate your opinion of the game. I think the game is brilliant from a multiplayer standpoint. Even though the sword is unbalanced, balance is by far the most appealing feature of this game to me.
online co-op Feb. 9th
Is this guy being a jackass or is he telling the truth. I am ignorant to the truth and this post went without a counter-remark. I am very curious cause that would be really cool.

Not as simple as one would think... I would have to move... I live in South Texas... lets just say... my connection is "The best of what is available". Still you are correct... better connection would solve this problem. You know... I have been chasing a better connection ever since I got my first PC. Way back when 24 Baud was standard and 96.6 was a dream. Nah... got to finish school... so... wouldn't be worth it to move... one day maybe. :D

EDIT: its chasing not chacing (my middle name is chace... so yeah.. )

It's because nobody knows and he is just spitting out internet rumors that more than likely aren't true. We will se Feb. 9th, but Bungie themselves have said that no such Feb. 9th thing is true.

Well... my problem with the game is really a sum of many faults... not just lag problems. I just don't enjoy the game...
Ahh, that sig cracks me up. I wonder how the first person to do that discovered it?
first person to discover they could squat on a body lying on the ground?..... not that hard to discover..
Marathon is the GREATEST FPS EVER!!!

Sadly its because of Marathon that I haven't been to happy with Halo. I keep compairing the two and Marathon is just so much better. Even to this day thanks to Marathon Apleph One I still play it. Its one of the few games that stood the test of time.

I would really like to see Bungie port Marathon over to the Halo engien. And do a Re-Release.

just had to get my two cents in. =P
I completely agree, but I duobt a game named "Marathon" would sell too well in this day and age.

Have you been naughty or nice? Maybe Santa cares about that when delivering Christmas gifts but we here at TeamXbox have a present for you regardless. You can wait until Christmas night to open your gift or keep reading for what might be the very first real info on Halo 2 Director’s Cut.

OXM was the first to report about Halo 2.5 revealing that the game is planned as an Xbox 2 launch title but now you’re going to read the very first details, straight from one of our most trusted sources:

“Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut will be there.”

Although our source didn’t specify which HDTV resolution the game will run at, HDTV’s lower spec is enough to get excited. Can you imagine Halo 2 running at 1280x720?!!! We also wonder what was meant by “all the stuff people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut.” With this kind of top-secret info, you don’t ask; you simply listen. We cross our fingers that this will include online co-op, more multiplayer maps, and the final conclusion to the Halo 2 story.

“The technology that powers Halo 2 has been designed from day one to take advantage of the next generation hardware,” the insider added. “In Halo 2, the Xbox was pushed to its limits but now the game will reach new heights with the advanced hardware.”

But that is not the only info our insider had for us as soon after he dropped the bomb: “Now, here is the twist. Halo 2.5 will come preloaded with the optional HDD. It’ll be one of the two reasons to get the Xbox 2 that comes with a hard drive. The other reason… well, you’ll just have to wait”

Sounds crazy to us but that’s what we have been told. Interestedly, if this is true, the rumor confirms the existence of, at least, two editions of the Xbox successor. Last month, we reported about the supposed Microsoft plan to release three versions of the Xbox successor. Although never in console history has an add-on sold enough to represent a large percentage of the install base, the inclusion of Halo 2.5 would probably sell millions of hard drives and/or other peripherals that includes this special edition.

And supposedly, there’s still one other reason…what could that be?

Guess the bit about it coming in 6 months was off, but it's looking like bungie developing halo 2's engine for use in future projects and halo 2.5 are becoming a reality.. And I got such a backlash for saying that..
