halo 2 = hype?

Ive played halo 2 beta and it doesnt live up to the hype at all. I just didnt find it as entertaining and addictive as the orginal. The weapon power adjustment feels 'too' realistic and now i cant pwn with the pistol. well really, it just doesnt live up to the hype. After played the beta a few months ago i just watch the commercials and think that that is more fun. thats just my opinion so let the flaming begain i guess....
 
Dude, you're just the first of the upcoming waves up disappointed/enraged fans. Halo 2 truly didn't live up to the hype. It's a decent game of course, but nothing more. Multiplayer can be fun if the right settings are there, but Campaign sucks regardless.

It's all just a culmination of Bungie's drawn-out lies.
 
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but please understand that not everyone is entitled to a Halo 2 topic.

GTA San Andreas didn't live up to hype either IMHO.

Opinion, everyone has one, and unless your Jeff from Gamespot or another high end reviewer no one cares.

True that. Not everyone will like the game, there will always be haters. But if the majority of the "professional" reviewers give it a 96% or better as an overall average, It's AAA title that most will find worth their time. Not everyone is paid by Bungie to say "It rules!".
 
I just hope the campaign is a little more varied this time around. No more of those same-looking corridors leading to a room then the same thing over and over that was evident in the last part of Halo.
 
Well, personally, I much preferred the Campaign levels of Halo 1 far above Halo 2's Campaign, despite the repeating environments which were a little more noticable than in Halo 2. For anyone who gives a shit about the Halo 2 storyline, everyone can agree -- it simply sucks ass.

If the game wasn't fun enough several months ago, they will have changed it. They're not making this game to put out a boring experience. That's why it has been in development for 3 years.

Well, your opinion has sucky statements backing it up.

This game has a good chance of not living up to expectations. Which now is expected of this game, and kind of tones down the expectations, IMO.

Based on Game Informer giving it a 10/10 and OXM giving it a 9.7/10 (highest score given by this magazine), this game looks to be awesome.

Best Sweeney impression I could do. Now, who wants to Sweeney me? :)
 
Halo had a story?

Seriously, I'd get Halo 2 at launch if I was still living in a dorm. When I lived away at college, we played Halo for about 2+ hours a day every day for a year straight, usually 8 players at a time, and on occassion 12-16. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't appreciate Halo nearly as much as I do.

I'm not saying I pirated it (although it's possible), but just for your information, an English final version of Halo 2 also started circulating around the net a week or two ago.
 
The first one didn't even come close to living up to the hype for me. The game was like a 5.5 out of 10. so I'm not going into Halo 2 believing any of the hype, infact I'm going in with the mind set that the game is going to blow monkey balls like Halo 1 did. In my opinion.

The ads are really making the story look cool. But as I said I'm going into the game expecting the worst.

I just find when you get a game based on the hype you are expecting God's gift to the game world and when the game doesn't blow your mind you get all pissed off at it. That's what happen with me with Fable. I also find you can't base how good a game is going to be based on the companies past titles. I freaken Loved the Marathon series. but Halo didn't even come close to living up to it.

Anyway, I am somewhat looking forward to Halo 2, expecting the worst. Hopefully I'll have a somewhat fun time playing it.

I like the storyline, and I played the multiplayer on thursday in chicago.. it was awesome. Different, but still great.

Anyway, I'm sure multiplayer will be overall a success, but you'll be in the minority if you really think the storyline is good. Have you even played the game, or are you just guessing it will be good? Because from commercials and the like, the story does look good, I'll admit, but play through 'til the ending and let's see how many other people will say it didn't suck.

I'm looking forward to it, it makes me happy. I read the books and I like the story. Does it make you happy to act like bungie rammed a live bear up your ass which you can only remove by bitching about halo 2 on message boards as much as possible?

You konw in a few days the game will be out and all this.....







...will just start all over again. There's bound to be someone who dosent like the new game and some who concider it the 2nd comming. And both sides will meet right here and continue to bitch at each other. And there's not going to be any real way to resovle it unless it's painfully obvious someone was busy diddling themselves during the development of the game... which while I dont a half a flying fuck about the FPS genre I'm still pretty sure they wil have atleast tried to live up to the hype even if they failed. Which once again is totally up to your personal interpretation.

I do speak sub-mediocre French, so I got most of the in-game dialogue, but I also played the English version afterward to clarify everything. It's not like it takes more than 5 hours total to beat the game again. Yeah, the English version has slightly better voice acting, but no matter which language you put the story into, it sucks.

So what about those of us who aren't amazingly huge dorks that read books based on video games? Am I going to find the story line shitty? At least anymore so than the first Halo? Seriously, was there a fucking plot to the first one.
So, aliens and humans fight? Never seen that before. And there is a super weapon? Never been done before. And there are mutant zombies? Holy shit, those have never been touched before.
Seriously, did anything happen in the first Halo besides a lot of people and aliens dying besides Master Chief. And I got to be annoyed and generally pissed off by (an invincible) Guilty Spark.

While I am sure Halo 2 won't fully live up to the hype (essentially no games do), I'm sure it will still be good. And all the people saying that its story sucks, especially compared to the first, have to be retarded because the first had nothing that could be considered a plot. It's like saying that eating horse shit is far worse than eating dog shit. If you liked the dog shit, I don't see why you are bitching about the horse shit.

And I'm drunk. And everyone should see The Incredibles.
 
Call it what you want, but I think it lived up to the hype fairly well. Of course it couldn't live up to the hype it had (nothing could), but it did come pretty close, IMO. Gameplay, anyway. I haven't gotten too far into it yet so can't say anything for the story.

Why. That's rediculous. I enjoyed the 5-minute demo more than I enjoyed Halo, and that's a fact. Why should I shut up?
